Had a wonderful time at this super charming studio. Great staff very knowledgeable, encouraging and supportive of a fun creative experience. Beautiful historic setting with that friendly Galveston community vibe. My sister and I did the Glass Fusion class with Amy. It was great, we would highly reccomend. Cant wait to go back. Thanks Clay Cup for making us feel so successful with our projects.

Walk through the door into magic! Almost anything you can imagine is possible to create in this artist studio~ well organized shelves filled with the supplies you will need to bring the artistic child within you to life. There are colorful glass doodads to make lovely projects, paints, resin, clay to paint and lots of instruction and encouragement. It is a Wonderland.... you create the beauty and they clean up the mess. Beverages available for sale including red and white wine to help free the artist within.

I have been coming to Clay Cup for a few years and have never had a bad experience. The owner, Amy, is the nicest person! Shes constantly checking on guests to make sure they dont need anything and are enjoying their experience. When family visits, I always bring them to the studio either for a class or as walk-ins, and we always have a wonderful time. I brought my mother in this weekend for Mothers Day to do a glass fusion class and we had a blast! On top of the cost of the project, patrons are charged a studio fee. This fee covers all the behind-the-scenes work Amy and her staff do to complete projects, such a glazing and firing pottery, firing glass fusion projects, and to cover the cost of supplies. I HIGHLY recommend going! I now have projects all over my house :)

We’d been looking forward to going here all week and called ahead yesterday to verify walk ins for any project any time which the lady on that answered the phone confirmed. So we planned our day to go there today after brunch when they opened (12:00) only find it closed at ~12:30 🙁 We called and got no answer, so we walked around the Post Office District for awhile to see if they’d open soon. We called again at ~1:50 and a lady answered and said they opened at 2:00 today (although that wasn’t noted anywhere and all of their posted hours said 12:00). So we went back at ~2:15 only to find out you aren’t allowed to do the only 2 projects we were hoping to do (glass fusion & resin art) without first attending a class apparently (which have none scheduled during the 2 weeks we’re here) because they’re “higher risk of cutting yourself or burning yourself or your nostrils if you’ve never done them.” We were the only ones in the studio and there weren’t any other classes on the calendar today… so I’m also not sure why the employee couldn’t have just taken the time with us since we were the only ones there anyways…? We ended up leaving without doing any projects as I already do ceramics and painting at home, so we weren’t going to spend our money doing those. We are quite frustrated as this info is also not noted anywhere on the website (actually both glass fusion and resin art are listed ON the walk ins page….) and we wouldn’t have wasted most of our day waiting to go had we known we can’t do the projects we wanted anyways 🙁

We went for a Mothers Day outing. The employees are very sweet. The pottery is all prices over $12 & you are charged an additional $5 as a craft supply fee. With myself and my 3 kids we paid a pretty pricey bill. It was a special day and my little artist loved it. Good pick from the hubby!

There are so many different opportunities to express your creative side here. They offer classes or you can walk in and paint canvas or pottery. Everyone is so nice and helpful. Every time I visit, I leave with so much peace and joy. I definitely recommend this studio to everyone

This art studio is great. My husband and I had a great time painting here. The atmosphere is calm, quiet, and peaceful. The owner is incredibly sweet and went out of her way to make sure we could pick up our pieces before we left Galveston!

****Update**** I got them back and we love them!Pictures are added as well!I absolutely love the service theses 2 ladies provided. The black/brown headed lady was the one who dealt with us, and she was the bomb!We painted the pottery. It’s not a place to make pottery which I thought it was at first. But we still had fun!! If we are ever back in Galveston, we are definitely coming back. The pictures I’m posting are not the finish product. They have to “fire” them, and then they will mail them to us. I will update when we receive them.

Absolutely love this place. Amy the owner is wonderful; very knowledgeable and helpful. I thoroughly enjoyed painting my gnome with my wife, brother and high school friend. What a way to tap into that long forgotten kid in me. I’ll be turning 50 in a few months 🤪

This was super cute and really fun to do, if you live far away theyll fire your pottery (if you choose to paint some unfired pottery) and then mail it to you. I had a lot of fun with this and it was pretty reasonably priced considering all the paints and glazes they offer. I cant wait to see how my little bowl is going to turn out!

We had the place to ourselves, so we were able to talk with the owner of the store. She was able to give us one on one tips on how to do our paintings. The store was very comfortable and clean. The shop owner was very knowledgeable and personable. We are definitely going again when we go to the island again. Thank you Mrs. Owens.

Visited this place several times. Friendly staff! Was excited to see growth for Clay Cup but I will never again pay $5 per person for studio fees. In the past 3 years I never paid a studio fee. I expected the up in price in ceramics - understand expansion costs... For me, a friend, and son spent over $75 for tiny pieces and 1 hr of painting. Things such as coasters used to be five dollars each - now 6 each, The seahorse dish used to be twelve and now it was 20, ring dish used to be 10 and now 17. All in addition to studio fees that werent mentioned before hand. I never saw if thats posted or not but to a returning customer we surely dont walk in expecting it. I never intended to spend that much for an hour. When youre expecting to spend $30 and then get a total of $58 for 2 pieces..... disappointed. Not going to return and sad to see this for a local business.

Clay Cup Studios is one of Galvestons Best Kept Secrets. From the first time I walked into the studio I felt comfortable and very welcomed by the staff. It is my go too place after a long stressful day. I love going to the new studio. It is very relaxing to sit and paint. It is a great place to meet new and old friends. They have parties, classes, family night, available for all age groups and all occasions. The staff is friendly, helpful and Professional. They are also very involved in the Galveston Community. I really enjoy going to Clay Cup Studios. Walk in and visit the studio, sit down and enjoy painting just like you did as a kid!

Amy is a wonderful teacher. We were visiting from out of state and she made us feel at home. She made sure we had all we needed to make what will hopefully be beautiful ceramic keepsakes. This turned out to be a fun, creative way to spend the evening. If we lived closer I would definitely drop in again. Thank you Amy.

Amy is AMAZING! She helps explain what the different paints and glazes will do on your pottery. The pottery will take a few days to be completely finished (glazed and placed in kiln), but this is a wonderful place to try your hand at painting pottery, canvas, scarves, or making glass art pieces. Amy goes above and beyond for her customers.

My daughter and I absolutely LOVE Clay Cup Studios! Amy and the rest of the staff are patient and helpful, always offering kind words when we dont feel that creative. Amy is always adding new creative lines to give us more and more things to try, from painting ceramic to painting canvas to glass fusion. We always look forward to her next classes. Even in the summer when things get boring, she offers camps for the kids that are not only packed with artistic projects but economical as well. We ADORE Clay Cup!

The owner, Amy, went above and beyond when I hosted a bachelorette party on a Friday night. Not only did she create a customized painting for us girls based on the brides wedding theme, but she let us stay late once the party ran long. We really enjoyed our time at the studio and the outstanding personal service is hard to beat. Amy, I wish I could give you more than 5 stars; thanks for everything you did!
