Ive been to many gyms and I can easily say that this one has been and still is the best. From the culture here to the lessons and the overall environment, this place is stellar. Professor Alex and Professor Josh have been more than welcoming to any and all those that step foot in the gym. I highly recommend coming by and seeing for yourself. This place is awesome! They have classes 6 days per week. Convenient class times. Instruction is top notch. Family friendly environment to learn. It does not matter what your goals are, fitness, self defense, or competition training, this place will work great for you.

Our family has been with Gracie Barra Garden Grove for 4 years now. This academy is the BEST! The entire staff is there because they actually love the sport. Nothing feels forced and they are passionate about the sport and teaching others. Coach Natalie is extremely skilled and wonderful with children and Professor Alex is truly one of a kind. Coach Alex does a great job instructing and mentoring his students. He is a great communicator at all levels. It doesnt matter if he is speaking to adults or engaging with the youth of his program the point and precision of what is being taught will always be learned. He just has a way of articulating what he is teaching. I have a college student, a high school student and an elementary student in Barra Gracie Garden Grove. Hes great with all three age levels.

Coach Alex has managed to turn my shy 5 year old into a strong and confident 7 year old. This was no mistake, its obvious that Coach Alex puts a lot of time and effort into his curriculum. We have made friends with a lot of great families that train at Gracie Barra Graden Grove and have come to think of them as our extended family. Dont waste your time (or your kids) with some watered down martial art that wont really help them should the time ever come......Bring them here and Let them have a fun, safe time with Coach Alex and give them the gift of confidence, mental and physical strength, respect and a martial art that has been proven time and time again to be the most effective in real combat situations!!

I am a student of GBgardengrove, been with this dojo for about 11 months . in my opinion this school is the best, from the senior instructor prof. Alex d’hue, prof. Josh, coaches Justin, Yvette, and Leo. These people lead by prof A.d’hue will teach you safety, techniques, build your stamina, and have a mindset of always improving and never stop growing as a jiujitsu practitioner .I also had the chance of being with prof. Alex d’hue outside of the dojo. Last week I took an intro class. I havent seen many martial arts schools with a clean, white modern look like this- reminded me of an art gallery. In just the one hour class it was apparent that professor Alex is not just a gifted martial artist, but an equally talented coach.

This location is awesome. I am new to the sport and have been timid to begin for months. I am glad to say I got such a warm welcome at this place. Its very beginner friendly.The instructors really made me feel comfortable knowing I dont have any experience in combat sports, and they took the time to go through my own goals with me. Im not exactly looking to get into the UFC anytime soon... Just a new hobby and getting fit.Alex is awesome! I wasnt bullied into trying anything I wasnt yet comfortable with. It was very personalized.Every student gets personalized training. They wanted to know what my goals were. Was I trying to get fit? Was I trying to fight? We all come with different goals, and they actually took the initiative to ask what mine were and what I was looking to get out of this.Franchises are not all the same. I cannot speak for other locations, but I definitely recommend this location to those seeking expert and personalized training.

I think it is hard to find an instructor who is good at both teaching and performing the skill itself, and Alex DHue is one of those people. I have trained with Alex for over five years and can say that he is one of the very best instructors I have trained under. This is the best BJJ school!!! My son has been here for almost 5 years. The coaches are very nice and approachable, Coach Alex always conduct kids classes with focus on technique and discipline combined with playful and friendly environment. And that makes the kids not wanting to miss any classes. I was looking for a fun, practical way to get back in shape. UFC inspired me to check out my nearest Gracie studio. I called ahead to Gracie Barra in Garden Grove to express my interest, and they graciously agreed to let me audit one of their classes. I attended the adult, no gi Jiu Jitsu class held on Thursday evenings. I felt both challenged and welcomed by the coaches and students. Unfortunately, a new work schedule has me on a regular shift that doesnt end until the class is over. If provided the opportunity, I would love to continue training with these guys. Ive been at Gracie Barra Garden Grove for a few months now; previously I trained at another academy and would drop-in about once a week at GBGG. Eventually, those once a week drop-ins turned to training all week at the academy. From the very beginning Professor Alex was very friendly, enthusiastic, and welcoming. Ive been going to Gracie barra garden grove for a little over six months now, I was training at another jiu jitsu gym and would come by for drop ins once a week. My one day a week started turning into two days, three days until I decided to make the switch. Professor Alexs passion, love for the sport, and teaching made me want to be a part of Gracie barra garden grove. Coming from someone who trains jiu jitsu watching coach Alex teach the kids is something special. I recommend this gym not only to the competitor, but to anyone wanting to get in better shape and learn something new.

Professor Alex DHue is not just a friend, hes a brother.Its not easy finding great coach. Prof. AlexNot only has the strongest credentials, hes also got the practical experience of the highest level competition. Hes Otavio Souzas (4X Wold Champion) first black belt, hes a Marine, hes college educated, hes fought MMA, the list goes on.Ive trained at other places under somehighly touted coaches, and to be honest, its one thing to be really good at Jiu Jitsu, and another at being good in teaching it. I always struggled with the language barrior of some of the other coaches.
