We booked private dance lessons with Dorothy for our wedding! I literally cannot stress enough how overlooked the first dance is for most couples. In my extensive experience as a wedding guest, it is easily the most awkward part of the reception to witness two people shuffle around a dance floor for 2-3min with not one sense of rhythm between them. No one wants to ruin the party spirit because you cant even do a dip without dropping your bride.Having a coordinated first dance was so helpful, took the overthinking right out of it for us. Plus Dorothy really listened and took time to choreographed something simple but elegant and appropriate for our skill level. Are we winning an dance competitions? Probably not, but we had fun, we felt more confident, and our guests enjoyed it! :)

I am not so much in dropping reviews, but felt the need to share the experience of trusting this Dance Academy for my daughter’s first time in HipHop dance.I have always wanted her to try it out.She started with Pre-Hip Hop and Ms Dorthy moved her up right way giving her advice that she could challenge herself better. Well we are so glad we took her advice. Ms Dorthy’s way of teaching the kids is amazing! She is firm, yet sweet at the same time! I see such dedication she puts in every day! The energy she puts is contagious 😊It has been 6 months only, and my daughter has gone from pre-HiP-Hop to Junior Competition!Ms. Dorthy’s choice of music and choreography is great! And challenging.I enjoy seeing my daughter improvement in discipline and focus. She can’t wait for Tuesday and Thursdays classes!I truly recommend Charade Dance Academy! We are happy we found the right place!

Dorothy helped choreographed me and my husband, then fiancés first dance for our wedding. She was very patient as we were both very awkward and kept on forgetting our steps. Over 6 lessons she managed to create a memorable routine for us which turned out to be one of the best parts of our wedding reception. I cant thank Dorothy enough for helping make our wedding a night to remember.

Charade dance academy teacher Dorothy Ho is amazing first dance teacher for weddings. She not only taught us a great choreography for my husband and I, but she truly cared for us to have an amazing dance for our wedding memories. She came up with the most unique and beautiful dance! she even help us choose a beautiful song that wasn’t the typical wedding first dance song. She is the most patient teacher and although it’s just a first dance, she made sure that every detail of movement were done right so the overall look of the dance would look beautiful. We really believe our wedding highlight was our first dance!!! We really didn’t have much time because my husband and I procrastinated on the first dance, but she really came in and taught us the entire choreography in only 2 classes! I highly recommend Dorothy teacher as your wedding’s first dance choreographer. You will be left with very entertained guest and beautiful memories with pictures/videos of your dance☺️

Charade Dance Academy has such a friendly and welcoming staff! 🙂Tammy is very sweet and helpful with any questions you may have about the dance studio. Miss Dorothy, one of the teachers at the dance studio is not only a very talented dancer herself, but she also has the passion and patience to pass along her various dance skills/knowledge to others! My daughter loves coming here to learn with Ms. Dorothy and has grown in her overall self confidence through the art of dance. She participates in the mini tumbling/jazz, hip hop, and ballet classes! Definitely recommend this dance studio if you are interested in having your kids join the dancing world or are just trying new hobbies out for them!

Charade Academy is the best, period. I’ve been to countless dance studios for my daughter and this one is hands down the most caring, talented, and honest group of individuals that I have encountered. She always tells me how much better this studio is in comparison to the others and wants to keep coming.If you are looking for a place that gives consistent improvements and a friendly environments, this is it!

I really enjoyed dancing and learning with Ms. Dorothy! She taught me and gave me dancing tips at my school at low/no cost! I thank her for that. I almost just feel bad. Anyways, if you are looking forward to take dance classes, you should take some here! She brings a positive vibe and will gladly take anyone. I even got in better shape because of her and her other staff! She also has lots of experience from dancing for many many years and winning many dance competitions such as World Of Dance I am sure of. Overall, if you are looking forward to learn more about dance and become a better dancer, enroll in Charade Dance Academy! You may feel tired or feel doubt/regret about joining (like I have), but in the end, it was all worth it. Ms. Dorothy and Mr. Crane doesnt disappoint :D

My daughter started ballet at 2.5 years old at Charade Dance Academy. (We’ve added Tumbling classes lately). She totally enjoys going to her dance lessons at CDA. Ms. Dorothy is a great teacher. She’s very patient with the kids. The school is quite active on creating different programs for students, Summer camps, parents’ night out, performances, competitions... I highly recommend Charade Dance Academy.

Ms.Dorothy is a wonderful, professional, and hardworking dance instructor. In Pre Ballet, the children work and build upon their flexibility. She helped my son get over her fear of splits. I was very impressed with how well Ms.Dorothy handles my son and all the other children in the class.My son is also in the pre hip hop classes. He always looks forward to attending class and especially loves Ms.Dorothy. She has helped him in his first steps in dance, and has nurtured his love for dance!The studio here is very spacious and clean, bigger than all the other dance studios that is in garden grove. I strongly recommend this studio to all!

I already wrote this on yelp, but i think parents should see it on here too . If i could rate this academy 0 stars, i would . This is the worst dance academy ive ever been to . One of the dance teachers is extremely rude and disrespectful . They scam your money and use excuses for it . As a parent, i dont recommend signing up your child to go here . They charge for a unacceptable price . The costumes cost $90+ when they are actually $30 she charged us way more and lied to me and the other parents . She favorites kids and targets my child for coming 1 minute late because of traffic . They made my daughter do 2 minute planks for being ONE MINUTE LATE! I regret signing up my child here and do not recommend this academy .

I love this dance studio. My son is one of the first students at the studio and we have been with this place ever since. Ms. Dorothy is such an amazing dance instructor. She is teaching pre hiphop and she has a lot of patience with kids. She finds ways to entertain the kids and also challenge them through different dance routines. I am very happy to find a place where my son can learn and have fun at the same time.

I loved the choreos, tips, and opportunities that she has taught me and gave me. I only had one problem. I was in the competition team but I left not because I was busy or financial issues but I knew that I was scammed. I heard that our costumes where really cheap but she sold it for over $100 and then changed it to $60. She lied to me and and many other people. She knew that we couldnt pay a lot of money for dance but I spent more than $110 for dance when we had the opportunity to go to the competition for free. She kept changing the prices and making excuses and lies about a lot of things. Overall, if you are looking forward to taking dance lessons here, I highly recommend it. The teachers are very experienced. If you are going for the competition team, I highly dont. Basically, you have enough money and you arent afraid to spend it on anything, taking lessons here or etc. is the right thing for you. Sorry for the harsh review but I am stating from my experience and point of view as her competition student/dancer. Heres something positive though, I heard she is working at Jordan Intermediates dance team for no cost or favors. Im really happy to hear that! I hope she treats the members right!

I first found this place when my team needed somewhere to practice. I had the pleasure of meeting with Dorothy and Miss Tammy for the first time after they were so kind to rent out their space to us! They were so kind to my team and I, and we really appreciate all that theyve done and have been doing for us.My teammates and I end up attending Cranes weekly Hip Hop classes on Thursdays, and it is by far the best Hip Hop class that Ive ever taken.Crane is so knowledgable that I felt that I have improved as a dancer. He knows exactly what I need to work on and how to work on it. Id never thought that I would ever be able to dance the kind of choreos that he teaches, but I am starting to get better and better each and every week.The best part about the classes is that it is an environment where everyone is encouraged to focus on what they want to focus on as opposed to just learning a choreo just to perform it.Overall, Im so happy to have found Charade. Its basically like a home for my dancing hobby. Thank you Dorothy, Crane, and Miss Tammy for everything!!

Charade dance academy is a great learning place for dancing and choreography. We learn difficult choreographies but our teacher Ms Dorothy always motivate us and assists in helping us grow. I was a part of the competition team in charade dance academy. It didn’t only focus on dance choreography but we had growth in building relationships and bonding with eachother. Without our amazing directors we wouldn’t have been able to grow so much and be where we are right now. When we achieved 1st place, we felt so happy because we achieved our goal. Charade dance academy is different from other dance academy’s because it’s not only focused on one subject. The academy has a variety of different genres of dances to focus on. Our teachers always helps the students grow and become better in dancing. It helps us learn new techniques which includes waacking, popping, break dancing and so much more. I am very grateful to be a student of charade and I’m so happy to improve and learn more dance moves to become a better dancer! From my experience charade dance academy is a step up from just basic dancing and it is a place for dancers to grow and develop new skills and techniques.
