El Camino College is right off of Crenshaw Blvd and Manhattan Beach Blvd. The community college is under construction throughout their entire campus. The campus itself is pretty decent sized for a community college. I would suggest a foldable scooter or foldable bicycle to get around, parking looks like it has enough to fit their entire student population and Disneylands overflow lot as well 😂Check out their website, and take a course even if you have already been to college, thinking about going to college or even if you cannot even spell or even read what I am writing, take class!

I used to be a student here before transferring to UCLA. I recently had to do concurrent enrollment in the Summer at UCLA & at this college as I needed to take extra classes for PA school. I was Pre-Med before I changed my pathway to PA. I needed Microbiology to be able to apply for this cycle. However, by the time my enrollment time came up, the class was full. Before the class was full, I emailed the professor & asked if I could get an add code but no reply. I waited for 2 days before emailing the dean of life sciences, Amy Grant & explained my whole situation to her, that if I don’t take this class, I’d have to defer my PA application for another year. I did my paperwork for concurrent enrollment with this school early on in the year. However, she was not having it & did not show empathy to my situation & said that she could not help me in any way. I am now at my wits end in trying to find another college to take the class & having to do the concurrent enrollment paperwork again which takes time.

This campus is huge and offers just about any subject you can think of. The buildings are on good shape and theyre constantly improving them. The instructors are in general really really good. I only wish the instructors at universities were as good. It takes a special kind of person to be an excellent teacher and the hiring process at this school selects teachers based on their ability to teach effectively, which may sound like an obvious thing to do but it is not how every school operates.

Worst administration ever. Id give negative 5 stars if I could. I briefly attended this college six years ago and am still enduring a nightmare against their poor accountability. I provided two forms of evidence for residency tuition and they stated that I was approved and should start attending classes while waiting for a formal notice letter before paying. I continuously checked in every couple of weeks to check the status wherein the guy on the phone always assured me I was approved and to wait for the letter. I attended for six weeks only to receive a notice that I was declined and owed the school over $2000. I immediately dropped the class I was taking and expected to have my charges dropped.Whoops! No go! Come tax season they intercepted my tax returns claiming I owed the full amount. I petitioned the school, arguing that their messaging had been akin to bait and switch (which is illegal) where two weeks later I received a response that said that a committee had approved my petition and all fees were waived.Wow. I actually thought they had resolved the issue (and in a timely manner, to boot). I did not have any issues for two tax years, until I receive a letter this year STATING I OWED THE AMOUNT IN FULL AND THAT MY TAX RETURNS WILL BE GARNISHED UNTIL PAID IN FULL.Apparently I have to submit another petition to get my money back as people involved in my first case have all conveniently retired or moved on. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME HERE! IM STILL FIGHTING TO GET MINE BACK!!!

El Camino College has a beautiful campus, relative to the surrounding area. The few staff I have spoken to are responsive and reply to questions with a great degree of accuracy and reliability. Navigating around the campus is a pleasure, even when lost, since the landscaping is done so nicely. The only problem is the website, which seems like a haphazard cluster of pages that are somewhat related. The staff Ive talked to helped me navigate the page and sign up for courses.Edit: The website has been updated quite recently and it is much easier to navigate.

Do not call trying to get something done. I called to ask a question since it is out of my way to go to after I transferred from there. The first time I called I was on hold for 90 minutes and no one ever answered . I decided to call of work the next day to go to admissions and get the information I needed. I paid $6 which is a good price to get my gd certification sent to my current school. I had this done on March 15, 2019. My current school Cal state LA has not received it yet. I have tried calling el Camino multiple times and never get an answer as I give up and hang up after 90 min of being on hold. Today I am going to stay on as long as I need too. While writing this review I have been on hold for 60 minutes already! This is ridiculous. I have the copy of my receipt and everything ready let’s see if they ever answer ( I have been to their offices before and they have multiple people working there just sitting on their desk therefore I do not understand the lack of attention to their phone lines. Not everyone has the access to just drive to the school to get an answer!

Good school aside from the fact that MESA director Arturo Hernandez is probably a racist.A little background: Im a poor (literally) underrepresented minority, and MESA is a University of California state-run program designed for first generation college students and underpresented minorities in STEM majors. The program helps said underrepresented minorities transfer to four year institutions. As a student of El Camino I applied to the MESA program at the campus, personally told Arturo Hernandez that I may become homeless if I dont get into a four year university, and he decided not to let me into the program on the grounds that I wasnt taking enough units at El Camino (I was a full-time STEM student with my course load split between several campuses in order to fit my schedule). In other words he punished me over semantics because I was trying to get ahead. If youre abandoning low income minorities over arbitrary rules like that, what purpose does the program serve?

This campus offers a variety of trades and a successful completion program for students interested to transfer. Word of advice to the reader, disregard the critical reception of fellow commenters. Its very likely theyre either dismissive, snobbish, immature, and dont ulitize resources to an advantage. Some students may not want to consider receiving a two year degree, since theyve been conditioned by society and secondary education systems that one is only able to become marketable or respectable if theyll possess a bachelor degree. Thats simply a false charge and a narrow projection to declare. Since universities are ridiculously expensive and many students arent employed once they graduate. Thus, community college is an alternative and has dozens of programs for any student interested. In some cases, a two year program can be more helpful than a traditional four year degree and can save as well make money. Many students lack a strong foundation once they begin college. Its is a wonderful start to develop skills if one lacks confidence academically. After two years or so, the transition to a university will be much more rewarding and enjoyable. With that said, this is an exceptional community college, I also love the atmosphere and location of this place. Ive learned so much from faculty and students alike, in fact, Im almost done with my studies. Ill definitely miss this place.

So far I have really liked my experience at El Camino. yeah, getting classes is hard to get into....ESPECIALLY when you wait a month before the semester starts to register. chances are you wont get too lucky. But if you are a student on top of what you need to get done, you prepare with time, you dont really care about social cliques, and you are there with a set mind of what you want, then El Camino is the college for you. Also, do a background check on your professors before registering for classes. in my time there I have been blessed with amazing professors but I have heard of select few who might not be really good. Counselors can be a lot easier to reach if you set an appointment with them in advance. The only thing I would say I dislike about El Camino is the area. Kind of a sketchy place to be at after sundown, well at least I wouldnt take evening classes there.

I was very disappointed at the service they provided at the ECC admissions office. The part time students who work there were so nice. But the full time front desk staff were horrible. The lady who processes the high school students concurrent enrollment forms was rude and temperamental. She almost rejected my form because I had made a scratch on the form in order to make a correction. She then made a big deal about needing an approval from her boss who in a second gave one knowing how unreasonable her accusation was. The front desk people rarely smiled and the whole atmosphere of the office was icy. The people at the testing center, the orientation, and the counseling were excellent. The two stars are for them.

No stars. I have a mental disability called dyscalculia which I have medical papers dating back from 2005 and diagnosed by the school. Ever since I graduated high school in 2016 and enrolled into El Camino, I’ve been declined by my disability and stated by one of the disability counselors that I look fine and if I were missing a limb then I can be in the disability program. Another counselor from the disability program who’s on a wheelchair told me just because I can’t pass the math subject due to my disability that “college is not for everyone”. I had a GPA of 4.0 and it lowered to a 3.3 because I had to repeat mathematics 2 more times without accommodations and dropped. I’m an excellent student and never in my life have I ever heard “college is not for everyone” from a counselor who’s suppose to help students not persuade them to leave their education. I had many more bad counselors here. I don’t know how many more students who are in my position have been told to leave and have left the school due to these worthless counselors who are there to sit on their asses and criticize students specially the ones who just graduated h.s. This piece of s**t of an event, has made me think of dropping out of college and it depressed me so much. That was until I found Otis, and considering that my major is art, this school works out great and they don’t need any math from me. Other than this b.s, I had good professors in many other subjects and I’m transferring this year, but I’ll never forget how this school treated me from start to finish.

Some of the professors are great while others not so much. One in particular tried to fail me and would go out of her way to have me drop or fail the class. I couldnt drop the class since i was in a program that if i dropped i dropped out the entire program. I went to the math department to explain my situation with friends as witnesses and who she was doing the same too. They wouldnt listen or anything. Staff is one of the worse i have experience as if they are competing with the DMV or Comcast for #1 in worst customer service. I tried to get priority registration since i was in foster care and the lady with the low fade was straight up rude and even asked me why do i want priority registration. Also i didnt know about the chafee grant for foster youth under 24 well i didnt get that. I tried getting information all around campus and they were just completely clueless about what i was asking. They never pick up any phone calls. The only good things this campus has is the Chemistry teachers, MESA, and half the MATH department. Good luck if you plan on going here. Oh and the counselors are the worse. It seems like only Keyes is the only qualified counselor here. They try to talk you out of your major and the schools you want to apply to. If you need an Ed Plan Keyes is the only one you should talk to. Everyone else just wants to throw you into CSUDH.

I was a student here in the late 1980s-early 90s. I must point out one teacher: Judy Kasabian in the math department. She was an absolute nightmare,. Kasabian was rude, sarcastic and downright obnoxious. She taught Algebra in that huge auditorium. Kasabian and Mr Veroda were in charge of everything. I loved it when Mr Veroda taught the class, however, when Kasabian taught the class, it was horrible. At that time, her hair was black, just below her shoulders, kinky, and always pinned and clipped back. Her nail polish was always puce. Her grooming was good. She never smiled. Her mouth was always in a horizontal slit. Her eyes were icy and cold like a sociopath. She was approximately 45 years old, in 1991. She did not encourage students working together. Two students would be working together quietly in the back of the room, and she would stop the entire rotunda to reprimand, because people were talking. She was more of a distraction than two students factoring out a polynomial. She snapped gum into the microphone. She absolutely chewed like a cow. Her manners were atrocious. She used to leave the class early to hit her afternoon classes at UCLA. A student made a complaint about this, and the classes at UCLA were suddenly not a priority. Until that point, she was going to leave early on a class for which we had paid.If a student had to leave early, it had to be approved and verified with the two young women who were responsible for taking attendance by the head count of who was in their assigned seats. If a preordained arrangement to leave early was not made, the entire class was stopped, and the student was put through an inquisition. One woman was quietly trying to leave, when Kasabian said in a loud, raised voice, where are you going? The woman replied, I need to change my pad. Kasabian looked like a fool.I feel very strongly about this, because we were adults, we paid for the class, and we were there to learn, not be mocked. Kasabian even sat back and gloated when she told a student to leave the class for talking. This was unnecessary.I can even remember a dress she wore at that time: 1991, during the Desert Storm War. The reason I remember the dress is because it was the only outfit she wore that made her look a bit on the feminine side. It was a two piece dress: orange skirt, orange and gray horizontally striped top. Therefore, with her chewing gum into the microphone like a cow, her cold demeanor, and her gloating and ego trips, I feel Kasabian is a teacher to avoid at El Camino. She ruined my experience there.Name Judy KasabianEvent Type BirthEvent Date 28 Jul 1951Event Place Los Angeles, California, United StatesGender FemaleMothers Name Garoian
