As a former student of this establishment and professional stylist myself, I am severely disappointed by how downhill my school has gone.I want to start by saying my stylist was fantastic, she did everything correct that she was told to, but for some reason was unbelievably unconfident. She was nervous every step of the way but couldn’t seem to get any reassurance from her superiors. I cannot fathom how awful the staff at this school is to kill such a talented young lady’s confidence that hard.As for the service, like I said she did a good job with what she had, but the products available to her were a complete joke. I entered the salon with the intention of purchasing products to use at home, but after today I will never touch Paul Mitchell products again in my life nor will I ever recommend them to my own clients.My hair was two different, Very light colors before my service and all I needed was for them to be a single color that was not too dark as I work outside and don’t wish to overheat. It should have been an incredibly easy color job. After three hours and three different methods of processing my hair I saw zero change at all as if whatever they put on my hair had no pigment whatsoever. The final product looks awful and feels awful to the touch, like straw, as well as burned my scalp quite severely. I’ll be stripping this out at home and doing conditioning treatments on my own time.Finally, the covid protection was virtually nonexistant. Masks seemed to be optional and every stylist and guest, and all but maybe two or three that Did have a mask on had it pulled down off their noses. The clients and stylists were packed like sardines into two tiny rows of seats despite there being an Entire extra two rows of seats they could have used and an Entire extra room of seats that was closed off. There were no physical barriers between clients, no noticeably accessible cleaning materials for stations.I made a point of bringing all of this up to a teacher who simply said ‘thanks for letting me know’ and proceeded to do Nothing about it.I wouldn’t gripe on the health issues of the place except I know for a fact just a few short weeks ago the school had a massive outbreak within its very walls, resulting in dozens of students and clients becoming infected. It just appalls me that they care so little about their students or clients.

We arrived on time for my daughters appointment only to be told it would be a few minutes. We could hear students laughing and carrying on in the back for the next 20 minutes. We also heard staff members complaining about customers running late as we waited and waited. I inquired about the wait. The first staff member said that the students had to deeply sanitize their stations between customers. The student should be just a minute more, we were told. Ten minutes later, as the noise from the back was growing louder, a second staff member stated that could not make the students adhere to the schedule. Students only took customers when they wanted and the Paul Mitchell School staff could not enforce their adherence to the schedule. We waited for THIRTY MINUTES before giving up on the student. Why does the school not teach customer service and professionalism as part of their curriculum? Dont waste your time!

First and last time at this place. I know this is a school and these are students but this was probably the worst haircut I have ever received and I requested a phase 2 student so I would get someone with more experience. When I arrived I had to wait over 30 minutes and they seem unorganized. I told the student that I only wanted 1 inch cut off my hair and to just follow the cut I had. I also told her that I didnt want my hair to be choppy and to not add any layers. Unfortunately, I got none of those things. Paul Mitchell should probably teach their students how to measure because my cut look choppy, especially in the back where a good 2-3 inches was cut out, especially in the top layers. I usually ask for about an inch to be taken off and have never ended up my hair so short and choppy in the back. Also, most of the highlights I received about 2 months ago at another salon were cut out when she chopped off the top layers.

Heidi and Skylar both awesome, they went above and beyond trying to get the particular color I wanted. The instructors were very involved but not over bearing. Excellent experience!I will be going back. Great job girls!! Yall sure know your colors.

Paul Mitchell School of Cosmetology and Hair Salon is One of the Best Schools that Teaches their Students the Most Current Styles and Beauty. They Did Such a Great Job on My Highlights and I Cant Say Enough Awesome Things about Them!

It’s Friday 1-8-2021 and I have an appointment for 9:30 it’s currently 9:50 and nobody’s here! It’s only raining outside but there is literally absolutely nobody here and I always come here since I was a little girl but this is terrible I’ve never had this experience! Plus there isn’t anyway I can get in contact with them to ask what’s going on and there have also been people here waiting! This is terrible management!

I love my hair. went platinum and it came out great. But I will say I felt like a mannequin the whole time. Everyone spoke around me and about me but I was rarely spoken TO. I had to figure out what was happening off what I heard them saying to others. Im a talker and I love the salon experience but I spent 4hrs there and spoke maybe 5 sentences because that how often anyone addressed me and wasnt talking about their lives or what to do next. At one point I was in the wash bowl and heard her say thatll need to sit and then she was gone. Had no idea if I could sit up or anything. Came back and immediately started washing with no warning or comment. I felt very out of place and it was far from professional. At one point a teacher was talking bad about another client to the students that were working on me like I wasnt even there. Like I said love the results, hated the experience.

Went there for balayage and a cut and it’s exactly what I wanted. I love it and had a great experience. If you need anything done I recommend asking for Jennifer she is so good and thorough!

Excellent products very pleased. My curls are bouncy now without taking any efforts . Damaged hair is healing.

I have frequented this location in the past.I have received services on both sides: novice and more experienced stylists.My stylist this evening, Sky, was phenomenal. She had an eagerness to learn and was very thorough and accomodating.The rating of 2 is due to the lackadaisical and unprofessional attitude of the lead instructor, Kale. I had a wash, conditioner,protein treatment and blow dry.... took 2.5 hours. Kale passed through MAYBE 3 times. The other novice students were basically assisting and training this stylist. When she asked questions, I observed that she was usually having to wait for him to accommodate other stylists. The more experienced stylists were supervised better than Sky was by Kale. I intervened after seeing 4 clients who had received combinations of closing, styling, hot press come and go. Sky as left on her own to trim my hair, other students continued to assist her as much as possible. When Sky completed the trim, and requested Kale to verify I was good to go, he was busy styling another students customers hair [ which now was the fifth customer ]. At this point, I went to request that Kale honor Skys request. He and I exchanged words when he disrepectfully attempted to reprimand me for requesting that he give the clearance of her work, [ Kale had only passed by once to look at the hair after the other students had instructed Sky and assisted her with a third of the blow drying,the wash and treatment ]....Kale had wanted me to wait until he finished with another customer [ who arrived after I had already been there for quite some time].The rating would have been a 5 had it not been for Kale. Sky is a young novice stylist with great potential and deserves more. I am a customer and DEMAND more.The school promises all services are performed by students with direct supervision of an instructor. TODAY this was a broken promise by Kale in regards to the school standard, the student and the customers expectations.

K,so never having my hair colored, I choose highlights. Not realizing this was a long process was my own fault. It took a week or twofor me to become comfortable with my chosen colors. After examining my hair now I love love love my hair! Having fine thin hair the slender baby lights are purfect in my hair Thank you so much!

I was not impressed with the front desk staff staff. I believe the front desk is the face of the company, who sets the tone and vibe of the experience they’re about to receive. Sadly, I did not make it past the desk to receive the services I needed. Employee was not very friendly, unwilling to work with us and also had a snobby tone to her. There were two girls at the desk when I walked in. The one to the right did smile and greet us. However, the other girl who was tall, with short wavy burgundy hair barely acknowledged us, and I had to approach her to tell her I had an appointment. She told us to have a seat without asking us what we needed to get done. Her assumption was that my 9 year old daughter needed the service when I clearly stated I needed a cut and balayage, but of course she never asked so how would she know! As the stylist came to get me, I asked if it was ok for my daughter to be with me. Your front desk employee failed to explain the rules of not allowing kids back to begin with, but I offered to pay for services for my daughter to get done as well so I could still be seen. She explained that If her services did not take as long as mine she would not be allowed back there. Of course, lacking in people skills saying it in a way that upset my daughter, and giving us no other option but to reschedule. At this point, I’m frustrated so I tried to reschedule for when I could get a babysitter. I asked her if I could reschedule for next weekend and she answers, yes! When I suggest it for Saturday she said “we’re closed!” I booked this appointment a week in advance, sat in the lobby for 10 minutes only to be told I couldn’t go back there with my daughter. This has been such an inconvenience. I understand you’re policies of not allowing kids back there, but I offered to pay for services for us both. You would think there would be other options there, and a more competent employee that was willing to help us. I’m just not impressed with this location.

I was treated like gold as I needed a color correction (a process indeed!) and these ladies treated me with such kind respect, came up with corrections based on their expert knowledge- that is why I love this place, they dont just want to do your hair- they want to get it perfect just for you!I just went back after 5 years! The process takes a while, so plan in some hours- but very high quality! See Stacia for the best job!!

Very mad at how my hair turned out. She warned me it would come out warm. She never said orange like a pumpkin. Very pissed and she chopped my hair off. Its not even a cute cut my face is long so short hair looks dumb. Than she left toner on my scalp line and back of my neck. Really. Yall are supposed to be decent yall just suck. Very unhappy. Dont ever get service from Savannah or her teacher Kelly.

Amy is very good and personable. She made sure I was comfortable and knew the steps she was taking and the process. Very patient and did not pressure me into buying anything extra. She gave me some good advice. I feel like I got a good deal and will definitely be back & ask for amy

Went in for highlights, wash, cut and style. Left out looking like someone literally chopped my hair off blind folded. This was my worst experience at a hair school. I didnt get highlights because the instructor advised me that because I had a relaxer, the product they use would just burn my hair out. So I decided to just do a wash and cut, big mistake. The lady who did my hair pretty much downed me in water because she was too busy singing instead of paying attention while washing my hair. That was the second sign that I should of left , but I didnt because she bragged about how good she cuts hair. I showed her a couple pics of how I wanted my hair cut. When she finished, with assistance from 2 instructors, my hair looked like a chopped up mess which was far from the pics I showed her. So disappointed.

This school is amazing i graduated from Paul Mitchell the school Gastonia in November 2013. I learned a lot from getting my education here. We have an amazing director and learning leaders here they are willing to do anything to help you become successful in this industry. I love Paul Mitchell the school of Gastonia so much i decided to come back and become a Learning Leader. I ♥ MY PAUL MITCHELL FAMILY SO MUCH !

I love going to Paul Mitchell and have been going to this particular located for 5 years +. The learning leaders are there to assist and I always feel welcome.

Be prepared to spend some extra time at your appointment; but, the staff is excellent and strives for complete customer satisfaction. Remember that these are students, though; so, you may have to offer feedback to your stylist or ask your stylist to check with her supervisor. Myra is an fabulous supervisor and Brittany is an amazing student stylist! Paul Mitchel is an EXCELLENT value for the cost!! If you have not tried Paul MItchell in Gastonia, give it a try...youll see that they are customer-focused.

Love they use great quality products. Its takes awhile to get through the process but all of the students in advanced learning stage 1 and stage 2 are great! Well worth the drive and time spent!!! :-)

Horrible service on yesterday! Whos hair do you know of dries in 20 minutes with a roller set? I went to work thats barely 10 minutes away, and the back of my hair, that was rolled last mind you, unrolled like I NEVER sat under the dryer! The instructor came over ONCE to answer a question, did not help fix the problem, and did not come back during my visit! The fellow classmates were very rude! I like that they seem to be a close family, but the instructor was a little too friendly with the students and also appeared to have her pick of students that she stayed with longer than others!

Melissa was a fantastic hairstylist for me today. She was very personable and friendly and she helped me pick out exactly what I wanted for my hair. I love finding someone at Paul Mitchell that I would be willing to come back for specifically.

My daughter (15 years old) and I love it! I recommend you to go there. For the hearing impaired, they are good with patient and will do anything that you request.

I had a wonderful experience with Cherish Carter as my hairstylist. She did really great! She gave me wonderful information on the products and services I received today it was a breath of fresh air to find someone that cares about my hair as much as I do and cares to keep it in perfect health.

Last time I had went I had an awful experience and was very iffy to come back, I had come any how and got Amber, she was AMAZING! She understood what I wanted and she got into action. I have definitely found someone that I can trust and keep up with! Will be going back as needed.

Service was great! The initial highlight coverage was too full so I scheduled another appointment to fix my hair. Nothing was really wrong it was just not me. The staff was very understanding and fixed it for me with no additional charge!

First visit and used phase 2 of their school. Enjoyed the fact Christine was personable with her consultation phase. Still here and feel confident I will like the results!

Had a horrible experience, I was supposed to get a level 2 student and instead got a level 1 who didnt know how to even hold a pair of scissors. She tells me after she has done my highlights that shes never done highlights before on a human...what?! Then she also tells me that she may have messed up on the pattern of the highlights! Ahhh after being there for 4 hours she finally rinses my hair, she then proceeds to tell me that I can come back another day to have them toned....um no you need to do that now. After another 30 minutes of waiting they finally tone my hair. Then they send someone over to help her dry my hair. The cut is AWFUL! Looks NOTHING like what I want. So the instructor comes over and tries to fix it but cant. A few days later I have dry, straw like hair where she did the highlights. So now I have horrible highlights, a bad cut and dry/damaged hair! The absolute worst experience, I called to speak to the director but never got a return call. Definitely do NOT recommend them.

I had the pleasure of Elizabeth Honeycutt working on my hair. She did a phenomenal job on this thick fine mop I have. Im so grateful for her patience and skills to execute a beautiful cut & highlight. I am extremely happy with my results!

Brandy Lanier at the Paul Mitchell school did my hair for a Christmas Dance and did an amazing job, She and everyone at the school was wonderful, I have to admit it was probably one of the best salon experiences that I have ever had. I have been going to Paul Mitchell School for a year now, I like most of the hair dresser that I have seen. I have only had trouble one time and Tonya done a good job fixing it like I wanted it. Kayse Wilson done a wonderful job on my hair today so I would recommend both these girls. I think Paul Mitchell school is a great place for these girls to learn.

I really enjoyed myself with my daughter at Paul Mitchell the staff was awesome and I have to give a very Special shout out to Victoria she was so sweet and kind to my daughter she did at excellent job to my daughters hair my baby is only 2 years-old and for her to sit in the chair like a big girl was a moment of goodness which by all means she doesnt like sitting for along time anywhere but Victoria made it happen I am so grateful but also will continue my services at Paul Mitchell well like they say 3rd time is a charmer but in my case the 1st time is a charmer🤗🤗🤗

This school is fabulous! They have great energy, are very welcoming, and the students are well suoervised. My hair looks amazing after going to April Leslie. The environment is fun and relaxing.

I love getting cuts, highlights, and especially the awapuhi treatments. They always provide excellent service and a great environment. they are never in a rush to get you out of their chair, Im always 100% happy with my hair.

Do NOT go to this school unless you plan on staying there for hours. Ive been to this place twice now. The first time I told them I wanted my hair colored a medium brown, I even showed her pictures and pointed to the brown I wanted in a color book. When she finished my hair, not only was it 5, nearly 6 hours later, my hair was black. At that point I planned on never going back. A few months later I decided since I was just wanting a haircut Id go back, who could mess that up right? I was wrong. When I called, I asked for a Phase 2 and they put me with Sierra. I got there, and they told me I was going to be put with someone else. This girl was named Tiffany. I told Tiffany I wanted a Marilyn Monroe style haircut. While the teacher was explaining what to do to her, she was gossiping to her friends and the teacher had to continuously repeat herself.. very unprofessional. The last thing Ill write about, how long do you think a haircut should take? Certainly not 4 hours because thats how long it took them. The teachers excuse? She wanted to teach the student. Wow. I will not be back. Ever.

I absolutely love it here ! As soon as you walk into the door your greeted with so much warmth and welcome. All of the students are nice as well as the instructors.

Unprofessional. I have an event Friday and my hair will not be done because I had to wait 40 minutes for my appointment. I had to leave because I live 30+ minutes away. Do yourself a favor and pay the extra money for professional service.

To be fair, this review is about their finished product - the stylists that come out and go to work. After seven okay hair workers, I found a true stylist. The first time I walked in I was so embarrassed by what another hair worker had done. After 3 or 4 visits, Im getting complements from total strangers on how wonderful my hair is. Three in one day! She told me that the moment I walked through her door, she had a vision of what to do. She (and her co-worker/owner) are truly inspired stylists. She knew right away what would look best and OMG, did she ever get it right! I have never felt better about my appearance. So if youre ever in beautiful downtown Cramerton and you want the best stylists in three counties... there is only one and its on Center St and its a Salon...

Cj was simply amazing and has been every time I have been here!!! Never disappointed! Kind staff, great instructors ! I will continue to come back!!

I went to school here back in 2006. Shortly after I graduated I started working at the front desk. Now about 6 years later I am the Worksheet Specialist and the Admissions Coordinator, I love this school and everyone who has been here!

I have had my hair cut and colored there several times and they have always done a great job. It does take a little longer than usual, but it is definitely worth it.

First off... I will never spend a cent on ANY paul mitchell product again. Ive been going here for highlights for the past year or so but my last experience was total BS. I went o get a full head of highlights with some brown lowlights witha hint of violet. As im telling my stylist what I would like she looks at me and says i just wanna let you know that I hate doing hair. Why would you say that, after sitting there for almost 4 hours they go to rinse my hair and needless to say the brownish red lowloghts bleed in with the blonde and my hair looked like cotton candy.. I went back the next day to get a redo and all they did was add a few more blonde highlights. My hair continued to bleed and fade. I called and tried to complain that I HATED my hair and would like a refund. The director said she couldnt refind me my money but if i was interested she would arrange for my hair to be redid in Stage 2. I said I would have to wait to see when i have a chance. The lady at the front desk had called to inform me that my phone charger that was left the night of my first appointment was there and that I could come pick it up, I had at this time set up a appointment to have my hair redone since I couldnt get a refund. I went to the appointment that had been set up for a redo and the dang school was closed for hoilday break. As i am sitting in a empty parking lot I called the director and left a voicemail needless to say I never got a call back... well I had went in with my mom for a perm and the lady upfront had aaked me about my appointment and what had happened I told her and she made me a new appointment to have my hair redid since the school was closed.... Well they day of my redo appointment I sit there for over a hour and the lady over the night shift says im soory we cant do your hair and its gonna cost me around 80 to get it fixed!!!!! like are you for real???? Yall are supose to fix my hair from the last screw up.. I swear ive never been more embrassed and pissed off. Yall screwed my hair up and promised to fix it and didnt I wanted my money back and said no then promised to fix it a couple weeks later to give my hair some rest time, aet me up with a appointment when the school is closed for hoilday, then give me another appointment and Im suppose to pay.. Hell no, I want my damn money back or my hair fixed.. I will never be back and my family will never go again. Ive always used Paul Mitchell products but no not anymore. Worst customer experience of my life!!!!!!!!!!!

I went in for an all over chunky caramel highlight, what I left with was a blended 4 color blonde/orange color and with sections on the bottom completely missed. It took 6 hours and I still did not get anywhere close to what I wanted.
