I only had a very short experience, but that was surely negative!I wanted to ask information about an English test, the person replying ignored the question and informed me that a course is £16/h and whether I want to proceed? Her name was Veronica, whom is one of the registered owners of this great company (check it online)I have politely asked again about the test, there the reply came - I quote - No, we don’t. Thank you for your enquiryI am just glad, that I could experience the great customer service quality before I have given them any money.I can send the emails to anyone who would question that happened.

Gisoel (Glasgow International School of English Language) is a great academy which helped me a lot in improving my language skills. I attended class everyday, morning and afternoon, for two months with the objective of preparing for my Academic IELTS exam.I was not even scared or nervous right before the test, instead I felt confident in my knowledge thanks to all the practice I’d done at Gisoel Glasgow. Finally, despite my low expectations, I was surprised in getting my amazing results: 8.5 overall, 7.5 writing, 8.5 speaking, 8.5 reading, 9.0 listening (9.0 being the highest mark in each category). The environment is one of the best, totally diverse and stimulating. Not static at all in the teaching method and and very multicultural with students from all over the world (e.g. Pakistan, Russia, Kazakhstan, Spain, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Italy, Bolivia, Brazil…) that come and go.I also had the most fun and would honestly recommend this school to anyone who needs help refreshing their memory or improving their language regardless of their level, as the teachers here at Gisoel Glasgow engage with the students on both an individual and a collective approach.

When I arrived at Gisoel I had not studied English for 5 years, so I was very nervous. Luckily I had teachers of different nationalities and accents, which gave me the confidence to work in English in any situation. Every week we do IELTS exams and practice each language competency separately with specific techniques. This way, taking the test becomes a matter of course. In addition, teachers tend to score strictly so that we have realistic expectations. But, unlike traditional schools, they always give you constructive feedback and even provide you with additional material if there is something you want to go deeper into.If you would like to experience this way of learning, then this is your school!

In my experience, I enjoyed the course very much, the environment of the class with all my friends, I also liked the activities that we did (speaking and grammar specially), I think that the school need to focus more in listening part, but the best way to learn English is practising, and to practice we need to speak, and I love speaking in this school. Great teachers.

I had the time of my life in Glasgow and I loved studying here. I studied in Gisoel for 5 weeks and they are amazing! They are in the city centre, whats is amazing because you can go all around the city centre in few minutes. They have more than one teacher and i loved it because you can learn a lot of experiences. And even though they have the same methodologies, each teacher teach in a different way and it is great because if you dont like a teacher specifically, it doesnt mean that youll need to get used to him because they have another teacher. Their methodologies are great and dont be shy about speaking because they have a lot of conversation :) im already planning to study there again next year! I really recommend it!

I just attended a six week General English course and I have to admit that it wasnt the best. Although this school might have a potential, there are many things to revise and improve.I started this course with a B2-C1 level, so I expected the course to be suitable for me.During the first week, I learned that I have been put in mixed class, with people with different levels and goals. In the first week, we did only IELTS exercises which were too easy for me. So I asked to receive private tuition, which they accepted to do, though Ive never received any. Instead, we started to do CAE Use of English exercises everyday, even though there were people who couldnt understand them because they were just too advanced for their English level. For 5 weeks, we only did this kind of exercise, without any writing, speaking or listening. We would just receive the answers without any explanation at all. And for the first hour, we would just read the newspaper without the proper corrections, making everybody bored and dissatisfied. Whats more, sometimes some teachers have also been rude with some students without any reason, also making up some crazy rule about clothes. I hope somebody will take into consideration my suggestions. Wish you the best!

Good DayHere is my real experience in this school. I was in this place for 2 months, so I can speak with knowledge and substance. I hope it will be of help to many who are thinking about Studying in this school.About this place:1. Before you start the course the owner, Veronica, puts a lot of pressure on you to pay, assuring that there will be no place. FALSE, the school has few students.2. Do NOT expect to have a placement test at the beginning, they will only put you in a classroom with students of different levels (A2-C2).3. Do NOT expect to learn much. They will NOT teach you more than filling out loose-leaf sheets, reading the local newspaper and filling out loose-leaf sheets again.4. Do NOT expect to have a class structure, they can simply place you in General English some days, even if you have paid more for IELTS preparation.5. Do NOT expect to have air conditioning in summer. They wont even have a simple fan, and the environment will become impossible.6. Dont expect a great teaching team. I highlight 2 excellent teachers, Katrina and Kashif, very professional and pedagogical. Unfortunately the school does not have a clear teaching structure, there is no program, and everything seems to be improvised at the last minute. I repeat, it is not the fault of these 2 teachers.7. Do NOT expect to have facilities to socialize. If you do, it is only thanks to your own means.8. Do NOT expect to have a space to heat your food. They only have a room of 3 square meters, with a table, 4 or 5 chairs and a garbage can. There is nothing else. Its the kitchen.9. Do NOT expect to have a 100% concentrated teacher in the classroom. You will always hear the rude screams of Veronica sitting in her office calling the teacher on duty. This can happen more than once a day, I assure you.10. Do NOT trust the 5-star comments on google. Dont believe the comments invented in the page of this school. I can attest that those who gave those grades were forced to do so.11. Do NOT expect to have an invoice to back up your payment, if you have not asked for it. I recognize that if you ask for it, they send it to you, they delay but they send it.12. Do NOT expect to have many activities at this school. The one I saw the most was waiting for the clock to go forward making only fillings.13. Do NOT expect the school to respect any discount you obtained before entering. If you have any inconvenience or you want to make any modification in your classes, you will NEVER have any refund, and you will NEVER be respected the original discount. Keep in mind that you are only seen as a bag of money, and they wont care in the least if you have to leave the course or you have to pay more.14. If they believe in despair, I can attest to having seen that at this school by being left with almost no students. Dont be surprised if one day you get an offer of 50 pounds for recommending a friend to enroll in this school! What a great promotion and seriousness! Honestly, I wouldnt do this to my worst enemy. (photo attached)15. Do NOT expect great infrastructure. You will have 3 classrooms there, one of them with a door to another room, and you will constantly see people come and go, in the middle of your class. And dont look up, a lamp could fall, as it is only attached with tape (photo attached).16. Finally, if your thing is to throw away your money, waste your time and not learn too much, this school is perfect for you!As I know that Veronica will be happy with this comment, here I will be waiting for her answer. Nor would I be surprised if she threatened to show me my partial evaluations. She has done it before. For your own good, KEEP AWAY from this school

Please DON’T go to this school.1. Very small school, only TWO classrooms, but more than 20 different courses available on the website. How is it possible?Basically, students at all levels are put in the same class. Which means A1-A2 students dont understand anything and don’t learn anything, on the other hand, C1-C2 students are bored and also don’t learn anything. Of course theres no placement test. But according to Mrs. Veronica, the owner: „mix of levels is normal practice for any school as classes cant be created for each and every level that makes no sense.” Yeah, right. Other schools simply dont offer courses which they cannot create.2. Not all teachers are native speakers.3. Lessons with up to five different teachers in one week.4. Absolutely no curriculum. The first exercise in the morning is reading Metro (a free newspaper which can be found on the bus), then there are some random exercises the whole day, every day. And if someone, for example, enrolled in a 16-hour course instead of a 20-hour one, she or he is simply asked to leave the classroom one hour earlier in the afternoon, in the middle of an exercise.5. Many weird rules. Coffee and other hot drinks are not allowed in the classroom! Warm food is not allowed in the dining room! Hot food can be only consumed standing (!) in the pretty nasty cluttered kitchen.Additionaly, the owner of the school, in her replies to the google reviews accuses students that they didn’t learn anything because they weren’t talented enough or because they weren’t long enough in the school. This is very interesting reading and another mark of the school’s professionalism. Here are a few quotes which fopefully also will help you to make the right decision:„I suggest that you either review or remove your comments, or I will take action.”„The issue is that some students come to the school and are quite frankly not IELTS level. (…)This student should be ashamed of himself for this unjust and unfair review.”„Reyes found it difficult to understand the difference between singular and plural and continued to make these basic, fundamental errors in writing tasks.”„She had a totally unrealistic approach and expectation of progress in IELTS. Reyes review was negative and rather vindictive.”„mix of levels is normal practice for any school as classes cant be created for each and every level that makes no sense.”I hope this review will warn at least some people. Unfortunately, it seems that honest reviews disappear between myriads of 5-star ones, suspiciously written in perfect English.PS. I’m writing under a pseusonym, because I don’t want to be attacked personally, like all the other authors of negative reviews.Best regards.PS2. Reply to the Response from the owner:Instead of responding to any of my complaints, the only thing you do is wondering about my identity?!Half of my review is just your quotes, and all the rest are facts.Im attaching a photo of the classroom, Im also sending confirmation of my payment directly to google. (And it was the worst spent 200 pounds a week in my life.)

I thought so much about my review because I had conflicting feelings. In the end, I decided to write a sincere review to prepare future students and help the school to improve itself. In GISOEL I met nice people, both colleagues and teachers. I think Kashif and Louise are excellent teachers, theyre both human and professional in their job. I appreciated Veronica, Head Teacher, for being comprehensive with me, even though Id recommend the staff to be less strict about the rules, especially about clothes - the room can be very cold sometimes. One important thing to notice is the lack of an initial and final level test to understand your own improvement (it would be useful for the teachers as well).I would also consider to create different classes based upon each students English level. I understand this is a structural need, but maybe it doesnt help so much to improve and learn. Furthermore, I really think reading the METRO for an hour everyday is useless, but it is only my point of view.Sorry, but I also found boring doing the same exercise everyday, reading more than 40 new words for 2/3 hours a day, simply guessing the solution. Its impossible to memorise, so I think that instead of learning so many synonyms of the same word per day, it would be better to learn 2/3 synonyms and to increase grammar rules, speaking section (with eventually corrections) and listening (it would be great to read again the listening text with the teacher). Anyway, I think Ive improved my english in the first three weeks, even if I felt constant in the following three. So although my general judgment is GOOD, I really think there are only some things to adjust and improve to became PERFECT.I hope you will appreciate my suggestions.I wish you all the best!

It’s time to review.1. It’s important to specify that in 1 month and half I did not expect to become a mother tongue. But choosing “General English* Intensive 25 hours for week” I hoped to improve my English.2. I’m 27 and freelance, so in the life I have different things to do, but I have I choose this course for learning and improve English...so accordingly I left my normal life for dedicate to the study with commitment and goodwill.3. The previous point is important for to specify that I didn’t want waste my time.4. The staff it isn’t capably to build a relationship with the students.5. The lessons consisted in a print where the students had to write words, this, without explanations or other. So these became a run for find the correct words became very unless for all, also because almost always one or two people answered.6. I think to see maximum 10 words on blackboard ... after 1 month and half...I think this isn’t normal in a English classroom when the people spent our time and money for learn a foreign language.7. I think that it isn’t clearly for someone that the “students” in Gisoel are ADULTS. We didn’t chose this school for learn manners lesson and for to be treated as a child.8. I left my last 3/4 days because I considered unless, I preferred studied at home with a good English book9. They recommend good grammar books10. The price it’s really competitive. I believed in it a lot.11. Good point. It’s near to the central station12. I knew new friends13. They have a really professional website14. Sorry for not Italian people but I would like conclude this review with a Italian idiom, yes because in Gisoel they really like idioms (especially the boss), we have dedicated days only for idioms, very important for English language but maybe not in this fase, indeed, I think I do not even remember one15. “il gioco non vale la candela”Simone

Hi! Im an student who has spent 8 weeks in Gisoel. I was in the IELTs course. It is true that during the first week we were doing IELTs stuff. But last weeks they join us with the general english students. We did unuseful exercices which make me got bored. They dont focus on the necessities of the students. My main necessity was the writing skill. Its true that its impossible to focus individually with each student. But in this case, all the IELTs studens needed the same. And we just did writting once a week. Last week I had an argument with them and after that we did  writing twice with the intention of getting a good review...because lately, as you can check, they just have bad reviews. In addition, every day we wasted one hour reading the metro (the newspaper) without any correction. You just listen other students from other countries reading with their own pronunciation. Moreover, they just divide the students in two groups. Begginers and advance. I was in the advance group with people with more level than me and with people with less. We are  B1, B2 and C1 in the same class. If there are not enough people with the same level to form a class, do not form a class with all mixedI also believe that we could make a better use of time. We just did a few exercices in the whole morning.I know my level was not good enough to take the IELTs score I wanted but thats the reason why I joined the school. After 8 weeks, I have not improved any much. The good points are that it is near than central station and you can meet nice people there.Overall, I finished the course with the feeling of having wasted my money.

Lovely place!I joined this school with a view to taking an IELTS exam and improving my English skills. What Ive learnt there definitely exceeded my expectations. Teachers such as Ksenia or Kashif were incredibly friendly and helpful so there was no place for shyness or embarrassment. But what I found the most useful were indispensable IELTS tips and techniques given to me by Veronica and her dedication to trace my progress and correcting my mistakes. After these few weeks I feel more confident speaking English and I expect good score on my exam. I have also made many friends from all over the world that I keep in touch with.Altogether, Id recommend GISOEL to everyone who wants improve his English, no matter what is his language level (its suitable for beginners as well).Ill definitely come back there in the future!@edit: After 2 months of preparation at Gisoel I passed my IELTS exam with Band Score 8.0! Its awesome considering my absolute lack of expierience with this sort of tests when I joined school. It is also worth to add that my reading score was 9.0, mainly due to techniques I mentioned before :)

I studied IELTS and English in this course. Some teachers are altruistic but generally not very good. They fill people of all levels into a class. They cannot offer a quality education. Their materials and behavior are not very nice. There is no place where you can sit and eat even at lunch and create a social environment with your classmates. I was written that the prices are affordable because of the campaign, but its definitely not a good course. With the 22-hour IELTS + General English training campaign, it fell to £ 86 a week, but I still did not like the training I received. Afterwards, I continued to Live Language despite being away from my home and I was very pleased. I am sure they will not be very pleased when I read this article, but I wanted to warn you. These are all my personal thoughts and suggestions and observations. Maybe you may love, but I did not.

I went with a low B2 level recently achieved in Spain with the aim of having a C1 (7.5 in the IELTS) in 6 weeks to be able to access the doctorate here in Glasgow, and I got it without any problem. The academy prepares during the whole week the specific exam for which you are going to take part and performs a mock exam every Monday from the first week, helping you to know for yourself what your level is and what you need to work to continue improving. If you expect to be chewed and work for you, it is not the ideal place, but if you are looking to prepare an exam and develop concrete strategies to improve your grade, it is the right place. Highly recommended to improve academic English.I really improved my English and my average score in the IELTS Academic Exam in less than 6 weeks working with them (from band 5.5 to 7.5); but above all, I have to thank GISOELs staff for make me like this language for the first time in my life. I had a great time in the academy and I encourage you to do the same.
