The campus is amazing with lots of little shops and it provides an amazing education to all students. Also, it is open to the locals so college students can experience the area.

From living in the area, walking and biking through college area, and going to the same restaurants and shops as the students, I would say the students are professional and behave responsibly which is an impressive sight.Part of the reason for the insane growth is the exemplary student population, and second is that the surrounding area is conducive for growth. The area around the college is very clean, well kept and appears like new.

School is a perfect size. Everyone is really friendly and it feels like one big family. School is regionally accredited, becoming more academically prominent and successful every month. Also the school is getting major face lifts, with 2 brand new buildings being built (new college of business and engineering building), and the whole new circle and hotel (brand new downtown area)

I went to Rowans College of Communications and Creative Arts and earned my BA in Journalism. I absolutely loved it. The knowledge and communication skills I picked up from my professors in the journalism and media departments are invaluable. The skills I developed ultimately allowed me to have a number of different avenues to choose from in starting a career.

I went to school for Electrical and Computer Engineering. My overall experience was great. It has been about 4 years since I graduated and have had tremendous opportunities in my engineering career. I cant say much about the other programs, but I can say that the school is well worth it for its engineering program.

Not a bad school at all. Went to Temple then transferred here because of the value. Commuter parking is actually very easy and there is tons of it. Anyone who says there isnt parking is just being lazy. Many parking lots arent even used throughout the day.

So much construction traffic jams, and random people crossing at any given time. I avoid 322 like the plague if at all possible, because of exactly that. They over accept for engineering, and there isnt ever any easy parking, but its close to home, so this is the most convenient university that isnt in a city.

Before you waste $100k and 4 years of your life, read this. Rowan University is a place of business, not an educational institution. Granted, this is true for most colleges today, but still, I will not send my future children here. This place basically treats its students like cattle, just trying to get them through the system. Yes, you will learn a few things, but many graduates will have trouble getting a real job - in fact, most dont. I could talk about the Presidents salary going from $375K to $500K in one year, the fact that you have to pay for parking that doesnt exist, or or how classes are large/overcrowded (look at the course schedule to see how many overbooked sections there are). Before going to any school, ask the department head: what percentage of students get jobs in this field in 1 year? and how will this program enable me to achieve my career goals? If theres any hesitation or vague responses, theres your answer. Also, Glassboro is NOT SAFE. Donnie Farrell was murdered in 2007 (no arrests have been made), there was a SHOOTING in an off-campus apartment in January of 2015, and burglaries are common as well. Good luck.

Its what you make of it. If you put in the effort to get involved in clubs or greek life or even within your interests it can be a great place. The parking situation is pretty awful, they over sell parking permits by a landslide and are incredibly ticket happy. Hearing about kids with parking tickets or Jaywalking tickets became pretty common over the past year.

Rowan University is amazing in three fields - engineering, nursing and education. Everything else is just like every other college, so the complaints from students not in those fields are going to sound similar to what everyone complains about at their college. Yes parking here can be rough, but Im an engineering student at Rowan and their program is amazing. Small classes, professors know your name 95% of the time, my advisor is willing to meet with me and listen, and the campus is a perfect size. Theres a bit of a party life, which can get loud if youre in the middle of campus or near the frats, but otherwise its not a crazy campus. The students that do well are the hard-working ones that put in a lot of work. If you dont put in the work and make an effort to talk to your teachers and advisors, youre just making things harder for yourself.

There is hardly any parking for commuters which makes you late for your $3000 classes. There is nothing to do around the school. One bar, that sucks, in the whole town. Expensive. The only reason I gave this awful campus 2 stars is because I do enjoy my professors in the Communications department. They are great! Everything else is horrible.Good job trying to get a job after you graduate with a degree from here! Its a joke

Rowan is a good university buried under an avalanche of bureaucracy and organizational problems. As a graduating senior of 2019, Ive had the pleasure of watching the school grow and evolve at a wildly quick pace. But, as one might imagine, such growth in such a short span of time will inevitably lead to problems. Rowan University is a small school that desperately wants to be a big school and will do anything to achieve that level of growth, no matter how predatory their tactics become. Nothing seems to be too low for Rowan at the current moment, and that is exemplified through their most recent change of the meal system.Despite recently conducting a survey into student health/nutrition levels and discovering that more than 40% of students say they dont have access to enough food to keep from going hungry during the day, Rowan has decided to completely change its dining system to exploit students and ensure they eat as little possible. Now all students are required to schedule their meals via an app, leading to over an hour of wait time for every meal during major eating hours. On top of this, Rowan has decided to charge students for nearly every addition to their meal, right down to requiring students to pay for simple condiments such as Ketchup and BBQ Sauce. The schools cafeteria is no longer an all-you-can eat venue, making it essentially impossible for students to control their own portions no matter what on-campus food venue they try to reach. This is likely to keep spending low, but if the survey is anything to go by, it will massive repercussions on the student bodys overall health. But it doesnt end there. Living conditions are also incredibly stilted, with one half of the student body living in archaic buildings that lack any form of AC and are constantly left in disgusting conditions while the other half lives in ultra-modern buildings where many of the systems (such as electronic keys) dont work half the time. Rowans transition into being this large school has left the population to essentially fend for themselves, as every dorm becomes overcrowded to the point where some Freshmen students are required to share 1 toilet and 1 shower among 9 different students. The only real draw the school has left is its academic programs, which I will admit are the only reason the rating doesnt go any lower. The professors at Rowan seem to have a genuine care and concern for their students, and I have yet to have a professor that wasnt at least passionate for his or her profession. However, at the moment, academics arent enough for the school to survive on alone.Student life is at an all-time low for Rowan and unless something changes, it will only sink deeper. This is without mentioning the infamously awful parking situation Rowan is plagued with for both residents and commuters alike, as well as a myriad of other issues such as the Rowan WiFi that regularly goes down at unexpected intervals, the obnoxious campus layout that drags most of the newer student structures as far away from the academic buildings as possible, and the constant remodeling of food areas that further prevents students from eating.I say all this not out of hatred, but out of frustration for a school that I was recommended to years ago by friends and family alike. That brief window of time when Rowan was emerging as a smaller school with a strong academic backbone but somewhat questionable living conditions gave me hope that things would only get better over time, but it seems the opposite is true. I have no doubt that in a few years, Rowan University might finally be the big school it so desperately wants to be. But in the meantime, the students are the ones that will suffer the consequences of being nickel-and-dimed at every opportunity to get it there.

The police and Security have cold hearts for the parking tickets they give. Every day i walk and see them giving tickets to cars, with parking passes, that cant find room in the parking lot so they park along the curve. Every day! Instead of giving the students who paid for parking a ticket. let them just park along that curb its no big deal. Dont give out more parking passes then you can fit. Money hungry University. I blame the security too, they should turn a blind eye and do whats right.

This place is terrible. They charge you $130 to park, which is a disgrace, then hand out parking tickets for no reason. They make you stick an ugly sticker on your back window. Why cant they just have a mirror tag? I got a ticket for improper display or no permit, which I have and it WAS in my back window. I AM NOT paying $75.The classrooms are too small, the buildings are mostly old, and there is not enough parking. GCC (RCGC) id way better than this dump.Half of the Professors are jokes and do not help or teach, they just want you to read. This is the worst $14000 Ive ever spent. Take it and shove it up your butt, you are a joke of a University.

You do not matter to Rowan. They just want to collect your money, and do as little for you as possible. Their infrastructure is so far behind, and is barely suitable for half of the student body. As per any university, the cost of living on campus is more than double what normal living costs should be. Their roads are so poor, a mojority of their buildings are so old, and there has been lead poisoning in the water. The main campus in glassboro is about 2 miles away from alcyon lake where there had been an oil company dumping thousands of barrels of used oil. Cancer rates around the pitman and glassboro have spiked since then. There is a creek bed that flows from south of the campus, through the heart of it, and then to alcyon lake. Probably not the healthiest scenario for a school that holds tens of thousands of citizens every day. If you have a job and need your car on campus and are a freshman, they will do whatever they can to make it hard for you to get a permit so they can write you endless parking tickets. Ive even gotten irrefutable parking tickets with a parking pass. The rowan police are constantly writing students tickets for alcohol violations and arresting students for marijuana, but somehow there are so many cases of date rape, physical assaults, and robberies that are neglected. Believe me, they just want your money and arent invested in your education, living, or financial situation. Is this really where you want to send your kid? Do you want to over pay for a public education, and constantly get neglected? From experience, I highly suggest you consider all of your options before selecting rowan.

I graduated from Rowan University in 2012 with dual degrees in English and Education (K-12 Subject Matter Concentration & Teaching Certification). I absolutely loved my experience - on the English side of things. Rowans English Department makes its students feel like family. That is, the intelligent, funny, and talented family members who you WANT to spend time with. Dr. Freind (yes, thats how its spelled), Dr. Parrish, Dr. Talley, Dr. Clark, and the late Dr. Carb changed my life in more ways than I can count. They made me love literature. They challenged my sensibilities and pushed me to be successful both on and off the page, in and outside of the classroom. Wonderful, wonderful people and program. Rowan is not known for their English Program, but it very well should be.My experience with their Education program, however, was dizzying and (many times) painful. Many people will point to Rowan as the place to go to become a teacher. This is true - IF - you want to conjure up loads of worthless pedagogy and enter the classroom without any practical skills. It also takes a long to time for students of Education to enter the classroom and step into the educator role. While student teaching was a great experience for many in my class, those in-the-trenches experiences need to come sooner. Also, the Education Department is incredibly unorganized. Prepare for lots of late and lost paperwork. Beware: Some of the staff who work in the building will sneer at you so hard youll feel your skin bubble.Campus life is, as people have said here, what you make of it. I was a lowly commuter, but I made many, many friends. I was involved with clubs and went to events. One more thing: Im surprised no one has mentioned how beautiful Rowans campus is! I miss strolling beneath the trees by Bunce in the spring. Rowans library is great too.PS: Parking sucks. It sucks so bad the school newspaper is forbidden from writing about it. Theres a super-secret dirt lot where you can park as long as you like without getting ticketed, but you gotta be in the know for that one ;)

One of the worst university experiences ive ever had. The teachers are the worst ive ever had, Im looking at you Mr. Khaled. Whatever you do stay away from the computer science programs here. The advisors always set you up with classes you dont need and each advisor has conflicting opinions on what courses to take. When you voice a complaint about a teacher, they turn it around on you and thinks its your fault. Ive had teachers freak out during classes because of people using tablets in class (un distractingly too) and ive had teachers drop your grade because you had to miss 1 day but theyll go ahead and take off for 4 days. The school is also very expensive. 1 semester was over $6k and parking is $100 a semester. I did not live on campus and just drove because the living prices are near 80k.
