My daughter (5 years old) has been going here for a few weeks. She does the Little Bulldogs class. This gym is amazing! She is a high energy kid. I have never seen her so engaged and focused in any other activity! The coaches are so awesome in their teaching. Every week she looks forward to coming back. 10 out 10 would recommend to everyone!

My 9 year old son started his 3rd week and he loves it. The instructors are great with the kids and always make sure to help them when needed. The gym is clean and everyone was able to answer any questions we had.

I enrolled my daughter into the Little Bulldogs Jiu-jitsu Gi class and she loves it! All of the instructors are very patient and are highly skilled in the art of jiu-jitsu and teaching jiu-jitsu to young children. My daughter cant get enough and quite honestly neither can I.

My three sons, ages: 9,7&6, including myself (31) have been attending here for just over a month. They have been extremely welcoming from the beginning, as well as helpful.I’ve attended one other gym in the Grand Rapids area and what I can say that sets them apart, is: the larger space, two floors for training, some exercise equipment, Gi’s for children and adults to use while training (Gi’s are not cheap, especially when you have a family) a sauna, two bathrooms with showers, locker rooms, play area for the children, and an area to relax and watch your children on TV through their camera.As for the trainers, they have all been respectable and professional. I do not know the name of the one I’m thinking about, but he is detailed in his work, especially with children and takes his time to recognize what each individual needs and coveys it well. This, making him attentive to detail. My boys have enjoyed it, we’ve all been comfortable and have really enjoyed working up a sweat with all the others around us on learning together.I’d say this is a place of quality, comfort and good space. The best part is that the kids are well taken care of.

Carlson Gracie Grand Rapids was the first and last gym we attended for jiujitsu for my husband and daughter. We knew that this was the gym for us and they’re practically all family now.With all of the additional services being offered there’s something for everyone. I attend the cardio classes and even bring all 3 of my kids with me! My daughter is improving so much and we love going to competitions with her team.My husband is still fairly new but he’s also confident enough to compete. All of the coaches for all of the programs are amazing and extremely professional. We recommend CGGR to all of our friends and family who ask about it.10/10 recommend! You’re missing out if you don’t give it a shot!

After the closure of our BJJ school due to Covid, my son and I were looking for a new school to continue our training...we found it!! Although we have attended only a few classes, it is obvious that Carlson Gracie Grand Rapids is the place to be. Professional and most important; fun.

Ive been going to this gym for about a month and a half, and its been a great place to start learning jiu jitsu. The instructors are very professional, everyone is willing to roll with the newer students, and the hour long Friday class is an excellent starting point for anyone looking to pick up BJJ. Make sure to bring a water bottle though- its quite a workout!

I am not generally a person to review, comment, etc. With that being said, I really wanted to give a few thoughts for this place....Two of my kids, ages 9 & 10, have been regular students in BJJ here for about the past 8 months. The level of care taken by the training staff working with all of the kids is unparalleled.... Additionally, the kids have done a few competitions during this time & the level of care extends there as well.There are few places you will encounter like this. It really is a team effort.

My children love coming to Carlson Gracie. They have fun while learning important life skills with the care and supportive discipline of their instructors. This is by far the best gym ive ever been to. the people here are absolutely amazing, and there is no sense of inferiority when training with them, the more experienced ones are always willing to teach you a couple moves. its an amazing community and im glad that i get a chance to be a part of it! :)

I Tried their free trial and would highly recommend this gym. Very friendly, welcoming, environment. Have not encountered any egos or clique vibes that are sometimes present in BJJ gyms. Large classes offer a good range of training partners and the instruction is well delivered.

Came looking for a gym to start training at after I moved across the country. Found this place, visited once and knew I wanted to train here. The people here are friendly and encouraging, I am able to train hard but still in a welcoming environment. Great workout and instruction, the skill range is well versed making for a exhausting training session.

Was looking for a place to train while on vacation and when I came in, the group of guys there were nice and accommodating. Mike was nice and had me sign the typical waivers and was there for open mat. The place is great because unlike other gyms in open mat, these guys really seemed invested in making sure people were progressing. There were no egos and everyone was really great to roll with. I highly recommend this place to train!!

I came to Carlson Gracie as a complete beginner and the staff and members were both very helpful and patient with me. I attended the womens only class, taught by Susan, who was super great! She was patient, answered questions and offered feedback when I got stuck or confused. I would recommend Carlson Gracie to anyone interested in jui-jitsu, particularly women just because their womens only class took away a lot of the anxiety I had about going in the first place!

Very relaxed school with alot of skilled people and good instructors.

I started bjj not in the best shape and I do this as a hobbyist. Thee instructors allow you to go at your own pace. The instructor’s also cover each position in depth. We spent about 2 weeks learning how to escape back control. Also the instructors are friendly and knowledgeable, the other students also help the new guys out. The dojo is also kept clean.

Carlson Gracie Grand Rapids Brazilian jiu-jitsu is one of the best schools Ive trained at! The facility is top notch with very clean and tidy guest waiting room and sanitary mats. The instructors and faculty are extremely professional and kind. Everyone who is apart of CGBJJ is vey knowledgable about their art and carry themselves with respect and dignity, something you dont always find with MMA or martial arts gyms, too many athletes are arrogant and quick to give you a cold shoulder when you are wanting to train, but the students here all have learned proper respect and school etiquette. I would 100% recommend this school to any level of athlete or individual seeking self defense classes.

This gym has amazing instructors and theyll even let you try a week for free! The facility is very clean and the place is family friendly. There are locker rooms, showers, a sauna, and a nice hangout area that has comfortable couches, a tv, and little games for kids.
