A beautiful, clean and caring place to begin my childs educational journey. I highly recommend this Montessori based school for children age 2-6.I have had 3 children go to HCS, all from age 2 through Kindergarten. The emphasis on personal responsibility, kindness and respect for others filters over into our childrens home life. The staff is well educated in the Montessori way and the hands on learning has proven to be an excellent choice for us. New work for the children is changed out regularly, keeping the kids interested and excited to go to school. Topics such as famous artists, classical music, poetry, China, Egypt and so many more teach the kids without them even know they are learning!

My husband and I have been so pleased with the early education our children have received at Hagerstown Childrens School. This is our fourth year at HCS and we are so pleased with the independent, yet nurturing education they have received from their teachers. We also love the renovated building which provides great security for the students. We will definitely be sending our third child there next year. I will continue to recommend Hagerstown Childrens School to anyone looking for a excellent early education program.

My son is in his second year at HCS and loves going to school every day. The staff is phenomenal; anytime I’ve had a question for the teachers or office staff, I was always given a thorough and knowledgeable answer. The curriculum is diverse and offers so much more than others that we looked at in the past. I love that the school celebrates diversity and offers young children the chance to learn about different cultures throughout the world. This school is truly one of a kind!

Our children loves the school and we love the school. The staff is amazing, caring and knowledgeable. Ms Gina taught our older daughter so much in the primary classroom. Ms Penny and Ms Caitlin potty trained our younger daughter in the pre-primary classroom! Because of them, our daughters are inspired to learn and have fun at school.

Both of my kids currently attend HCS, and we love the school. They are proud of the work they do there, they care deeply for their teachers and friends, and they come home with important life skills and academic knowledge that continues to impress me. The school encourages them to pursue their interest in learning - a love that I hope will continue for a lifetime. HCS has really helped us to become part of this community since we recently moved to the area. I highly recommend sending your children here!

The school is good but they hardly ever call you back or answer when you need to get ahold of someone. We thought the lead director was nice until our son actually started going to the school then her personality changed and she hardly listened to any concerns we had or was incredibly snotty when we talked with her. The rest of the staff is very friendly and the other children and parents are friendly as well. Over all theyre a good school, but they could be better for the price.

Ive had two boys - rambunctious boys! - have completely positive experiences at HCS. One is alumni and now in high school. After HCS he first attended another Montessori school through elementary, then transitioned to public high school successfully. My youngest son is currently in pre-school. HCS is exceptional in every way. Not only are the teachers deeply invested in their profession and committed to the children, there are many that have remained with the school for many years - this impresses me to no end because I know the allure of a larger school system must be strong for career teachers, but the HCS staff love their work and become close (appropriately, always!) with the children. It is truly like a family at HCS, with many involved and supportive parents who are readily welcomed by the staff as volunteers and understandably concerned parents. Its hard for some moms and dads to leave their little ones in someone elses hands, and HCS quickly puts parents at ease. The Montesorri system is incredible, evidenced by the many successful figures who are Montessori alumni. Most children quickly become independent and competent in all the right ways. Individual children are given the opportunity to learn at an appropriate pace for their own social and intellectual level, all the while gently encouraged to advance. We love this school, period!

My first experience with Hagerstown Childrens School began when my older son was ready for a Pre-K environment. At that time this was not offered in the public school system. Someone had suggested that I check the Montessori program at HCS. We visited the school and loved it. Our son finished his Pre-K and Kindergarten with HCS.When our next son was getting ready for Pre-K I already knew that I would send him to HCS.The staff encourage the children and treat them as if they were their own. Its refreshing to have a school that is able to allow a child to progress at their own pace. If they are advancing in any area they are encouraged to keep going. If they are struggling, they will work with them and help them master tasks. Each child is given an opportunity to be a helper in the classroom. This allows them to be first in line, help with the weather maps and help the teacher. Its a pretty big deal! My son always wants to get to school on time so that he doesnt miss seeing his name up as a helper. Now that they have moved to their new location, the school is bigger, brighter and the outdoor play area is great. The kids often call it their park.I would recommend HCS to anyone!

My son was a micropreemie (born at 26 weeks). I knew it would be important to make sure that he had great support in his early education. HCS has done amazing things for him. He’s finishing up his 3rd year (2 years in Pre-Primary and 1 in Primary) and will being going here for Kindergarten next year. His growth and development have been incredible, and this has been such a nurturing environment for him. HCS has given him the best start in life.
