I had the privilege of studying under Sifu David Cruz for a solid year or so. In that time, I was taught the foundation and philosophy behind Chinese Kung Fu, in addition to empty hand forms, attack drills, defense drills, and footwork drills. The skills I learned with Kung Fu were also applicable on the basketball court and football field and definitely gave me an advantage. He is an excellent teacher that makes sure you have a solid foundation before moving on to more advanced techniques. He is very patient so Im sure hes great with kids too. I would highly recommend him to anyone as a martial arts teacher.

If youre wanting not just to become a street fighter, but to be imbued with the spirit of a true martial artist, Shifu Cruz is the best teacher youre going to find in all of Nashville. If you want to build a long-term, solid foundation, and not just a superficial exposure to kungfu, you will find in Shifu Cruz inexhaustible patience, superb skills and techniques, and superior martial philosophy, to impart to you. Shifu Cruz can painstakingly build you up from beginner’s level, all the way to the depths of Shaolin kungfu. I, my wife, and my son have all taken lessons from Master Cruz. That ought to speak louder than any words of praise. Just for starters, for instance, I am, personally, absolutely impressed by Shifu Cruz’s total mastery of all seven different types of full splits. I know of no other who has that kind of mastery, save the very best in the world. Again, that’s just for starters. If you ask him about it, and he easily demonstrates them, he will be so modest about it that the uninitiated wouldn’t even fathom what he’d just witnessed. In my opinion, Greater Nashville is immensely fortunate to have a genuine Shaolin Master to teach here at all. Think about what it would cost you to fly thousands of miles away to live in the Songshan Mountains, Henan, China, to learn authentic Shaolin kungfu, which is the mother of all martial arts.
