Don’t send your child here. Send them to a better school. This school has teachers who are only here for the paychecks rather then teaching the students. All they do is eat, talk on the phone. Some teachers even just let the kids run around while they teachers fall asleep. Constant bullying here, the children here are very rude. Administration really doesn’t do much. Me being at this school for 4 years really sucked. I’m glad I finally left this school.

Great school! Teachers and administration in the Kindergarten - 2nd grade building are awesome! Lots of extra activities are available for the students to participate in if they wish. They go the extra mile to make learning fun! Front office is very welcoming. Everyone goes above and beyond to make sure the students feel loved. Although students are given multiple chances to the right thing, for those that consistently dont follow the rules, discipline issues are addressed quickly and compassionately. I like that they keep in mind the impact that disruptive students have on the other students. When I voiced my concerns, the assistant principal and her support people listened to me and resolved the issue. Those parents that complain are usually those who never volunteer or whose children are disruptive. Charter schools are not for everyone, but if you want an environment where your child will be helped to achieve academically, be respected, and feel loved, this is the best school for you.

Theres constant bullying by other kids and the administration nor the Teachers do anything about it. Theres a specific teacher Ms. Ford, second grade teacher. Shes rude to parents, pretends to be a jolly individual but my child tells us that as soon as shes alone she becomes a monster. She bullies kids her self, yells at them, humiliates and talks down to them. Shes not a pleasant individual that condones violence, her rules are basically you can push, curse, and beat on other kids as long as her back is on you. If her back is turned, then she doesnt care what goes on. She also uses slang around the kids, and we dont send are children to school to become ghetto children. Im a man with good morals, which is the reason I dont disrespect a woman nor will ever. But she needs to be put in her place since she likes to bully little defenseless children.

This school has an awful problem with bullying and children being targeted. There have been multiple dangerous threats and the staff doesn’t do anything for the well-being of the students. The bullying here is relentless and no one cares to listen to our case I’d rather just take it to the cops at this point. Please be aware of the social issues in this school, please be on top of your children and make them aware that bullying is very dangerous. Please listen to your kids. The cops will be involved sooner or later if staff doesn’t control the bullying situation. It shouldn’t take a suicide or something horrible to happen for there to be change. Change must start now.

This school is shiny and new on the outside to cover up how rotten it is on the inside. I guarantee you half of the parents here have had to put their child on Adderall or some type of medication. They meddle to far into your home lives when you decide you do not want to cough up any money. My kid has been suspended from here 3 separate times for things hes done with other children. Hes gotten awful grades and horrible discouraging notes home from school. When we finally go to remove him, its a hassle because the entire office on the kindergarten side is gathered up trying to hear why hes leaving and putting in opinions that are not based on school facts just gossip. Overall, the uniforms are just a little too much in itself. My child cant attend because he didnt have his belt ? My child has to wear the same jacket for 5 days a week because its the only one with the school logo ? Heres an update. 2 weeks into his new school. All Es, no issues with schools, hes learned all his frequency words already. They have cupcake challenges and a treasure box option for completing homework. 0 Stars.

If your teacher ever leaves, I pray for you. Before when my teacher left I was doing so good and when she left my grades somehow plummeted. This school sucks do not enroll your daughter/son to this school.

Put your kid in any school in the area and you will have a bad time, the area in general is a struggling area now. Ever heard of anything truly gone wrong? no? then trust me they are trying to keep your kids safe given the circumstances. Parents raise your children better, they are out of control

Ive enrolled my son here for the 7th grade and reading these reviews, am a bit skeptical, did i make the right choice?. i know you will have a few bad apples in every school, but when you hear the reviews about faculty not checking, poor attitudes, unorganized, i just dont know. I dont want my sons experience here to be poor, that affects him emotionally, physically and mentally. i could only pray, for his protection. The good reviews you can count on one hand. i try not to judge a person, institution based on reviews by others, but this will have you thinking. Lord please protect my child

Do not let enroll your children here, zero stars terrible schools! The K-2 building is probably the only decent building. When I wanted to transfer my child out of the school due to one of their staff making a decision behind my back which benefited the school I decided to withdraw. And when I went to the school to address and try to resolve the only thing they could say was good luck at the new school. Very unprofessional and could care less about my child and this was the principal, Ms Thermes. Ive also complained about the route that other parents use from around that police station and have almost caused an accident multiple times and they have never done anything about it. I also had my oldest withdrew 2 years ago who was having many problems with other students and academically and transferred him to homestead high and has done wonderfully since then. They will not be attending upcoming year. Lack of unprofessionalism, noncommunication, all they care about is there funding and how much you can donate and give.

Both of my children go to school here. My daughter was here from 3rd to 12th. She has a serious medical condition. Had to miss school. No one told me until it was too late to do anything. Ms Baez said she couldnt do make up work. If your child is failing you wont know until they say asset the end of the year. She didnt get to walk or graduate from keys gate. They didnt say anything to me that she was in jeopardy of failing. My daughter graduated from another school. Ms Baez was the principal at keys gate high school but couldnt handle the high school students i guess. My son is still there and has a learning disability and ADHD. All they do is complain about him constantly. I feel they dont want him there because he prevents them from being an A school. My son has been here since kindergarden. They need to realize he has issues out of his control. They need to train and inform teachers on how to deal and teach children with ADHD.

I had an appointment at 10am, for 3rd grade registration, with Melanie Alers. I arrived at 9:30am. She was so busy, she did not notice I was next. This was informed by an office staff. She helped other parent, which her appmt was after mine. Then asked me to go back @ 11:30am or 12pm, since she had a meeting, she had to attend. Then changed her mind. While in her office, she asked for court docs. For custody reasons, she insisted, that without that court order, she couldnt registered my daughter. What a lack of manners, she never apologized for skipping me. Then rushed the enrollment process, because of her meeting. Lack of professionalism in all the levels, you can think of. The office staff are scare of her. What a unique experience. Never again, going to that 1st class Charter school!!!

Somehow we made it through one whole year at this school. I believe in alot of the teachers, and alot of them believe in there students...two of my kids accelled academically in-spite of the bullying they endured here. However the principal, management, what ever crooked individuals, and/or team of individuals that make the rules, and processes at this school should be fired. Every last one of them should be FIRED, and never given another chance in a school anywhere again. Like others mentioned the pickup/drop-off is downright stressful. Difficult to manage Im sure, they just make it worse on everyone by over managing it. But that just added stress for parents and not a reason to stay away. BUT from the faculty bashing childrens religious beliefs, to then celebrate gay holidays... to letting students use the dean of students office to sexually assault other students, to then taking kids backpacks for whatever racket someone on staff has going on..... just fire everyone and start over. Needless to say my kids wont be returning. Dade Public schools would be better option and thats saying something.

This kgcs Keysgate Charter Elementary k-1 keeps on coming up with ways to ruin the kids self-esteems.Now they came up with the perfect scam! They have found a way to charge people money without having to give them anything in return! Theyre collecting money from every student in order to put them in a raffle!!!! Only one kid of the thousands will get some cheap prize and the rest will feel like losers! Great job KGCS! This needs to be reported! Theyre exploiting the innocence of the children! And they know that kids dont understand this so the parents have to forcibly give them the money so that his or her kid doesnt feel like an outcast and doesnt get made fun of or bullied!!! Extremely disrespectful Assistant Principal. I have a 6 year old that has been diagnosed with ADHD. (Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder--A chronic condition including attention difficulty, hyperactivity, and impulsiveness.)He is undergoing a series of evaluations in different aspects in order to determine what type of medication would affect him the least yet produce the desired result. My son, at times, as a reaction to the medication, reacts in different ways, he would cry, or scream, or kick.. all depending on the mood at the time.Keep in mind he is 6 years old. I cant find any reasonable explanation on why a school would suspend a 6 year old every time he suffers a Outburst or mood swing. the principals position is that the school is not equipped to handle children with disabilityI believe the one not equipped or educated enough to handle children with disabilities is he. Her name is Assistant Principal Therms. I will follow this review with a formal complain against her and the school to the School Board, I just feel that this review will help as it would be easily accessible. This Principal feels it is reasonable to suspend my son every time he has an outburst. There are times when my son is only going to school 4 to 8 days out of the month.Today this principal disrespected my wife in front of my 16 year old son. Today, she went a lil to far.If you have a child that suffers from disability, DO NOT PUNISH HIM BY PUTTING HIM OR HER IN THIS SCHOOL.

One star because you have to ....Terrible school! My boys went here for years and wont be returning. They threaten to call the cops on my 12 year old twice. Once for him going into the high school after hours t get water and another time for him getting into a fight with another kid who kept bullying him. He told the teacher and they told him to ignore the student. This happened for months & no one did anything. I later came to find out another 5th grader showed my son drugs and when he went to Ms Beltran ,which is rude as ever & unprofessional -she told him to find out more Teachers dont communicate with you the office staff are rude as well. Its a shame how the school started off great & now is a terrible school!!! Dont send your child here they may have the cops called on them for a detention

Id like to start this off by saying that if 0 stars was an option, Id definitely give it that rating instead of 1. Keys Gate Charter High School is now a D school, & the only reason I attend this school is because of the location. Keys Gate apparently used to be great, until they started accepting everyone on the apparent waiting list that they had. This school is very high on favoritism & you can ask anyone that goes here & they will agree; you can get off the hook for not wearing uniform & other violations if youre cool with the teachers/admin/dean/security, but students that arent known will get an over-exaggerated consequence. The counselors are a joke, & they dont do anything except sit in their offices all day acting busy when in reality all they do is order food from Casavana, Chipotle, Wendys etc talking about their personal life instead of helping students & letting them know the credits they need for graduation. They have a tremendous amount of attitude & will only treat you with respect if they like you or they coach you on lets say the dance team. Now moving on from the counselors & onto the school lunch. On the first week of school of the 2015-16 school year, I got chocolate milk & it was expired. I strongly suggest you bring your own lunch, unless you want to wait in an overly crowed line, deal with everyone skipping you, & the disgusting excuse of lunch that we receive. What they claim is pizza tastes like pure cardboard & speaking of cardboard, the pizza is always stuck to the actual cardboard. So unless you want a healthy mix of cardboard & unheated pizza I suggest you bring your own lunch. They do have a concession stand, but all the food there is overpriced, including the subs & the nasty McDonalds cheeseburgers; not to mention that this concession stand is only for high school students. Middle school students arent even allowed to use the vending machines in the cafeteria. I dont understand why they felt like they had to include 7th & 8th grade in the high school building. This is the most annoying thing to have to deal with in the hallways. Dealing with all the of the middle schoolers running around and throwing things after school, the whole thing is just utter chaos. Besides all of these issues, you have to deal with the morning/afternoon traffic. Kids are late to school due to their terrible line system. Everything about this school is terrible. They dont offer any academies to benefit your future & only offer Cambridge. Every single teacher is quitting or transferring & to be honest, I dont blame them for taking a better opportunity. On the other hand, if youre a student & your teacher quits... good luck. Youll be stuck without a teacher for weeks or even months, sometimes even the whole school year. When this happens, all the work that your inconsistent substitute gives you gets lost in the process of switching classes or just gets thrown away. Inconsistent is the perfect word to describe the rules here at Keys Gate. WEEKS could go by and people would be wearing non keys gate jackets & no one would say anything then all of a sudden when corporate decides to pay a visit or CSUA officials drop by, they make announcements stating that theyll be making sweater sweeps to take away all non keys gate jackets & that youll be given a consequence for wearing it. A week goes by & everyone starts wearing their jackets again, the cycle just repeats. ENFORCE THE RULES FROM THE BEGINNING OR DONT ENFORCE THEM AT ALL thats why everyone from other schools thinks were a joke! WE even think were a joke. Id also like to say that the students in high school are all group oriented. Everyone has their own group & youll definitely NOT feel welcomed, unless youre friends with people from here. There are always fights & things happening, the non-serious issues are taken seriously, & serious issues are taken lightly. This school has been a great experience. Im in the honors program, and my teachers actually care about my learning. Thanks to KGCHS i can graduate high school 2 years early. In my opinion the people there are great. Ive never been bullied. Im in the 7th grade and next year I start 8th. There is a population of teens there that need to learn respect towards adults but overall I have learned a lot. One thing i strongly dislike is the cafeteria food so, bring lunchbox. Also the fact that we have two periods for L.A. and reading. Im also in the gifted program, I do wish that they had more resources for us in the gifted program.Thank you

I have 3 children in this facility (notice I didnt call it a school). My oldest, who is now in 9th grade, started in 4th grade and my youngest started in Kinder. If your child is in Kindergarten up to 6th grade this school is acceptable. By this I mean, the teachers still care. Not much can be said about the administration but the teachers for these grades have always been great with my kids. WHEN YOUR CHILD REACHES 7TH GRADE AND IS READY TO GO TO THE HIGH SCHOOL BUILDING, FIND A NEW SCHOOL!! The counselors are a joke. They put words in your childrens mouths to get them to say things they dont mean. They are very manipulative and over-step their authority. The school has fallen to a C school and they are forcing the 7th and 8th graders to take 2 Language Arts classes thus, missing out on electives that keep the children happy and interested. Ive never gotten a clear answer on why they have to take 2 L.A. classes but my guess would be so the students will do better on the reading and writing parts of the FCAT. GOTTA GET THAT GRADE UP, and that is really all they are concerned with. My 7th grader has brought home no homework this entire school year, he is learning absolutely nothing! For half of the 1st nine weeks he had 2 classes ran by substitutes........1 still is. With such a small challenge at school and at home with NO homework, he has become focused and obsessive with other things in his life which are causing problems at home. This school has such an easy curriculum because they want to make sure all students pass, otherwise it looks bad on them. The kids get away with whatever they want because the school expels very few students. Apparently, when a kid is expelled, if they dont enroll in some other school, the last school they attended gets marked as the school they dropped out of and this doesnt look good, especially for charter schools. So, they do whatever they can to avoid expelling students. DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD TO THIS HIGH SCHOOL! Im not even going to get started on the bullying that goes on. Just know, from one parent to another, Keys Gate High School students are very cruel and the ones doing it usually only come away with a slap on the wrist....

My Child was threaten by another student with a knife, My child reported the incident to the head school consular who didnt take her at her word and had to ask other students, once the other students verified the incident the consular the went to the students classroom to pick up the student. The schools assigned police officer check the students bag and found the knife and the student was expelled from the school. Now heres were the school failed us, the consular told us that in all the commotion she totally forgot to call us to inform us our daughter was threatened by this student, the consular gave us the excuse of she knew as soon as our child mentioned the incident we surly would have gone to the school to find out for ourselves. By not acting immediately she gave that student 30 - 50 mins of time to do what ever she intended to do with that knife, placing other students at the school in harms way. Also in not alerting us immediately, our child could have been subjected to repercussions for reporting this issue and getting the student expelled. Seem this school takes these matters way too lightly and will only act after someone gets hurt.

Terrible Experiences for the family and the kids in 2012 and 2013. I originally enrolled the kids in 2007 and live in Keysgate. It was wonderful for the first few years as an A or B school. It was originally established by the parents who live in the Keysgate community and the parents chose Charterschools USA to help manage it. It has never been a public school, but a charter school run with fees by the parents and volunteer hours by the parents. A couple years ago they brought in a new Principle who broke the original charter and overcrowded the school with those outside the Keysgate Community who were struggling in public schools. To the parents credit and staffs credit, theyve been trying hard to make it work. But, the smiles have left our childrens faces because its really gone downhill due to the poor leadership and bad choice to open what was a private local charter school to just about anyone. Ive heard rumors of drugs now being used by some students. Its also now run like a prison that apparently requires continuous police presence. One of our children in particular is being targeted and treated unfairly on numerous counts by one of their teachers as well as the Dean of Students at the middle school. If they dont like you, It would seem that the message is that the odds are stacked against you and theres nothing you can do about it. Its also true that the lack of lockers is hurting the childrens spinal development because they have to carry everything and they have no place to store books and supplies. Yikes. Scary stuff man.

Im a parent of 4 and all of them go to this school to different grades, my experience in this school is been horrible I dont even know where to start. I mean the pickup and drop off is hell, all they do is beg for money it went as far as to ask for donations such as desk for the teachers printers and such. One of my kids didnt bring home homework for weeks because they didnt have a printer. The whole thing is been headaches and bad experiences after another but and I think thats why they give themselves the luxury of being this way is because theres not enough schools around this area so even if you dont like you have to put up with this.
