I have been attending their online classes since March when we first started the pandemic lockdown. The classes helped me with not only working out physically, but with anxiety and loneliness.Getting to see the instructor and being able to connect with the class was and still is very helpful. I try to go to class every day and it has been so helpful and an important part of my day especially during the long shelter in place days, weeks, months.These online classes have been most helpful than anything else that I do. My physical body has gotten stronger, more flexible and energetic. My mind is happier, less anxious and more relaxed.Thanks to Body n Brain for the wonderful, helpful online classes that can benefit anyone who wants to join in.

The instructors here are amazing, really feels like they care about you. They showed me some really unique exercises which were really effective in calming me down bringing me into a meditative state. The stretching is amazing, makes you feel lighter and stronger, and is surprisingly good of a workout (makes you sweat!) And for the people who are into the more spiritual side of things, this stuff can really make you feel connected to your inner self, and it feels like you’re shedding off a layer of ego you never knew was there. Was skeptical at first but if you can open your mind no doubt it can change your life.

After many years of Iyengar yoga practice from which I benefited immensely, it was time for something new. Something joyful, yet challenging and enlivening. Something that would enhance my well-being while supporting a deepening spiritual life. Body & Brain seemed an unlikely name for that something, but its been all of this for me for the last 5 yrs. I have been with kaimuki body and brain for more than six years! Through the classes and training has given me such positive experiences. Especially with helping me releasing pent up negative energy within my body; techniques to relax; breathing techniques, and much more. The people Ive come into contact with are terrific and caring. Just finished a clsss with master Jen from Kaimuki. I have tried many yoga and tai chi classes for over 40 years.Nothing is like this. Many of us concentrate on our bodies and do not pay as much attention to our mind and soul.Kaimuki body brain corrects this.Prior to attending master Jens class I was totally uptight, tense and worried. Through her guidence and suggestions I was was totally relaxed, refreshed and invigorated by the end of the classI could also looked at my worries objectively and but them in proper perspective.I heartily recommend these classes to anyone searching for health, happiness, and spiritualness.Richard

I appreciate the mindfulness teachings, especially during these challenging covid times. Some of the practices, like Dahjon tapping and intestinal exercises seem unusual, ie, are unlike other kinds of physical trainings that I know. And, I am experiencing good results and feel uplifted by this new knowledge. I enjoy the Wooden Pillow class and hope it continues to be taught. Master Jen, and the other teachers, are energetic, inspiring, and encouraging!

So grateful for the online classes! I’m usually not one who likes to exercise, but these classes do more than get us fit. They help heal us, refresh the brain, and clear out stagnation. We learn to feel ki energy and grow it. We get to practice mindfulness and go beyond our mental limitations. Plus during this time of Covid, the amazing teachers help us boost our immune systems and release anxiety. No wonder we feel so good afterwards and keep on coming to class! I stumbled upon this place after attending a Yelp Event. Coming with yoga mat in hand I realized that this place is a hidden gem where all you need is YOU.We placed our yoga mats in the next room and started a warm up like no other. The goal was to build heat in our core, clear the mind, and realign.AND IT WORKED!The controlled movements seemed perfectly designed to warm the body and at the same time relax.Master Cat came in like a ray of light, full of energy and ready to play. The hour that followed was full of stretching and movement that challenged us, but above the challenge gave us extra energy.By the end of the class I was sweaty, but felt light and at peace. I was revived and ready to take on the rest of my day.We got a book written by the center’s founder Ill Chi Lee. Between the book and that first experience I couldn’t stay away.Since then I’ve been going for a couple months and can see myself coming forever.Master Cat keeps it challenging and above all helps each individual develop the tools to heal themselves, both body and mind.Health issues? You should join.Stressed? You should join.Wanting to be more balanced? You should join.Not sure if you really need anything, but feel like you aren’t fully content in life? You should join.Like being around fun and positive people? You should join.Truthfully, it’s different, but there is something about it that just makes you feel like your best self- something that is best felt by trying a class.

Where shall I begin... I have been coming to the center for over 4 years. I was introduced to the center and Master Cat by my friend Susan. Its hard to describe, but when I come I just feel good and relaxed. The energy of the class is something that I have not felt any where else. Theyve introduced me to a meditative state that I never got to when trying to meditate by myself.Also, Master Cat has designed the movements and meditation to suit anyone. Its good for beginners and for those already aware of their body.Lastly, I want to add that its more than just body awareness, Ive gained an awareness about my thoughts and how it affects my day.I just keep telling people, if you come with an open mind, the benefits are beyond what words can explain.

I wanted to add a workout activity into my life, one that I would stick with on a daily basis. I was also interested in mind-body concepts and living a healthier lifestyle. Body & Brain successfully manages to weave these two goals into a 1 hour training routine. I also found that I am better able to reduce my stress level and focus better at work. The instructors are very caring and lead the class with various stretches, yoga, tai chi, and energy meditation which vary daily. At the end of a class I feel relaxed 😊 Master Cat and the other instructors are very knowledgeable and skillful in getting you to do the movements so your body will respond appropriately. Their warmth and caring is wonderful!

I have been a member at Kaimuki body and brain for 6 years and it has been the most amazing part of my life since. I joined when I was recovering from a stressful event, that had a negative effect on my body. I make it my number one priority to come to class 2-4 times a week, every day that I am not working. If I am not working I would come every day. The benefits are amazing!!! My body is healthy and feels well. I would highly recommend Body and Brain to everyone! Aloha

Dahn Yoga has been a great experience for me. I love to dance, but I was new to yoga. I am almost 70 years old and was feeling like I was getting very stiff and losing my flexibility. I really love the Dahn Yoga classes because the stretches make me feel like I am getting more flexible; more in balance; and I when I leave the class, the world just seem a bit brighter and I feel somewhat “lighter.The favorite part of the class for me is the brain energy “dance” which has wonderful music and really helps me get out of my busy brain and into a wonderful, calming space. The different teachers at Kaimuki teach a little differently, but I have found that all of them are wonderful. The other students are very friendly and welcoming. It is a very nice community. I highly recommend Dahn Yoga.Susan

Having a place where you know you can always go to and walk out feeling great is a true blessing. The Kaimuki Dahn Yoga Center is such a place. The studio is beautiful and what a fresh feeling when you enter the room. I am provided with the best guidance on movements of my body to create an optimal energy condition. “I am semi-retired and I am involved in a variety of activities. I have been attending the Dahn Yoga class in Kaimuki for about 8 months. This type of Yoga has enhanced my body with the right amount of exercise, meditation, etc. It greatly helps with my body conditioning. I was able to lose suborn pounds and make positive changes to my body. I am healthier than I was before I started. I was taking Anti-Depression medication for almost 3 years and a few months ago, with my Doctors approval, stopped the medication. Dahn Yoga helps my stress levels and increases my confidence. It keeps my mind, body and spirit healthy. I am pleased that I discovered an exercise that works so well, I thoroughly enjoy and a center that takes a special interest in each student.”

I started with one hour classes and switched to ½ hour private sessions until my low blood pressure problem is resolved. I tried other places but this one actually works, mainly due to the skill of the instructor (Cat) and the personal attention of private sessions. I get to understand how each exercise helps me, including how and why it should feel. This gives me the confidence and understanding to know that I’m doing it correctly. I’m looking forward to eventually switching to group sessions.

This is a program good for every one regardless of your age. It has taught me how to relax, flexible and keeps my mind active doing fun exercises. Its explains what and why each move is done. If you cannot do an exercise they give you a simple way to engage at it till your able to do it.

I love ❤️ Brain and Body Yoga Tai Chi. I was recommended to take classes here by two of my doctors. I signed up for the three-month unlimited pass. It was a great way to experience the classes and learn from different instructors over a period of time. I felt the benefits of the exercises in my body and nervous system. The classroom setting is comfortable and inviting and I love having tea 🍵 at the end of the sessions. If you are looking for to get more in touch with your body and spirit then brain and body yoga is wonderful place for that.

So glad I found Dahn Yoga! I have been a member for 2 years now and find it has helped me in so many ways. There is a nice balance of stretching, movement and meditation. From the warm up before the class to the tea time at the end of the class, the whole experience puts my mind and body in a peaceful place. Dahn Yoga is unlike any other yoga class I have attended. The classes offer a great balance of yoga and meditation. The focus of each class differs daily, providing a lot of variety, with poses that can be adapted to any skill level. I usually come to classes after a long day of work. No matter how tired or tense I feel, once class is over, I always feel much more relaxed and centered.

Dahn Yoga is good for the mind as well as the body. The stretching exercises can be done by anyone starting out and the meditation relieves stresses from everyday life. The instructors at the Kaimuki Center are friendly and guide you in your journey to better health. I would recommend everyone try out their free classes, usually on the last Saturday of every month.

This is my third year of coming here. I come two to three times a week and it has been so helpful for the healing of my IBS gut issues. It has also taught me how to relax and fall asleep easily. There are several teachers but each one is consistent with the type of tai chi and yoga that is taught here from the master Il Chi Lee. The exercises and poses vary so there is no boredom with routines. The thing about this is that it is more than just about exercise. It is about the mind and body working together for your health and learning to love all of yourself, mind and body!

I was visiting from Kauai and I took several classes here during the year. I usually come in feeling so tired with so much tension. Since i am not use to so much traffic and big city atmosphere. But the minute i step in I absolutely love the atmosphere and the classes are so fun. The breathing postures are so powerful,yet anyone at any age can really do them and receive benefit. You are able to go at your own pace and increase your level of breathing & flexibility as you take more classes. Center manager is warm and friendly and very knowledgeable. Also had healing sessiion with her and she was able to relieve so much tension from my body.

I have been going to Dahn Yoga classes at the Kaimuki Center. There have been positive changes, such as weight loss, increased flexibility, and better sleep. Body and Brain is the little studio with a big heart! Chronic back pain is depressing and a daily struggle for me. Dahn Yoga is really an amazing practice. I knew I needed some kind of Yoga in my life but I knew I wanted to be comfortable while working out. Dahn Yoga is the most comfortable, healing, and calorie-burning yoga out there! I love how we work our abs and protect our backs/necks in comfortable positions. We also do stress relief, mediation, healing, and more! There isnt any stressful pretzel formation! Instead, we do a variety of practices that are very comfortable and it changes up every day! I really love my Master Cat Sawai - She is always so positive, joyful, caring, real, accepting, and welcoming! I never knew that toning my body and mind could be so great!

This little center is so full of energy! I have not gone to this location, but my mom is actually a member and she loves it! It was really helping her with her diabetes and managing her weight! Plus she always raved that the people there were so friendly and helped her a lot. This little center is kind of tucked away off the main road in Kaimuki so if youre not careful youll pass right by it. Check it out for yourself!

The brain and body center helped to open my mind. After attending a session, anything that was bothering me disappears and Im left with just joy. I have been coming to Dahn Yoga for several months. The class starts with stretches that help circulation, then moves on to mild exercise, followed by meditation. The format is easily modified to your fitness level. The instructors are encouraging, helpful and fun. After a busy or stressful day at work, this is a wonderful place to come and loosen all those tight muscles and calm your mind.

I had been experiencing stiff, sore hips for many months, and had tried a variety of solutions - weight training, stretching, Crossfit, massage therapy - with no relief that lasted longer than a day. Then I tried Dahn Yoga with a Group-on. Within the first two weeks, I felt looser and more balanced, so I signed up for a three month membership, and within another couple of weeks, my hips felt normal again! At the end of the three month membership, I signed up for a year and five months later, I remain pain-free. Each day of the week has a different focus, and each class includes a significant time for meditation. Its both energizing and relaxing. Dahn Yoga is more than just exercise, though; Master Cat has created a very friendly and welcoming environment that focuses on general health and well-being. Classes are scheduled both during the day and after work, so its easy to attend.

I have been at Dahn Yoga for several months now. I have not exercised or did anything but work and take care of my family. Now that I am retired, I thought I need to do something for myself not just physically but also emotionally. I wanted to be a better person. Now, I look forward to attending class everyday and even if I feel tired or a little achy I still go because I know that I will feel so much better after class both physically and emotionally. Learning and continually practicing how to release all the blockage I have is starting to make my heart sing. I dont think it was a coincidence that I met Master Kat at the Seniors Fair. I saw a pamphlet for Dahn Yoga saying that it could help with stress & anxiety. After my one on one meeting with Master Cat, I felt so relaxed and hopeful, so I signed up for membership. After attending classes, I found myself happier, and more relaxed. I also learned tools on how to breathe, meditate and deal with stress. My days stress and tiredness seem to disappear through the meditation, breathing and stretching exercises developed through Dahn Yoga. This is not your typical yoga, but a combination of Chi Kung, Tai Chi and other ancient practices that helps one cultivate our life energy. Dancing to beating drums, bamboo flutes, electronic dance music; laughing meditation; traditional yogic poses - we do it all! Master Cat and all of the DY teachers are warm and caring, highly trained and excellent motivators. The more I learn about neuroscience, and the brains connection to our digestive system, the more I appreciate the training I receive at Dahn Yoga. Im glad that I have found a special place and a practice that helps me maintain my physical, mental, and spiritual health and wellness. Try it!
