All three of our kids attended this school. Excellent staff and parent involvement. More recently there have been many more foreigners that move in the energy corridor area and that makes for great ethnic diversity but also means that some of them may be just temporarily in Houston making getting local children to keep long term friendships more difficult.

I just have good things to say about this school... Very professional and committed staff. Excellent experience for the entire family. The principal, Mrs. Rose is an great leader, and example for the future generations of teachers to come.

It is a good school overall. the only problems is the dress code and how you always have to tuck in your shirt all the time. why cant you wear any type of jackets there. also, why are there assigned seats for lunch? you should give the kids an option to sit anywhere at that table.

Outstanding school, the gifted and talented program one of the best, teachers are awesome, admin. staff are very polite and the principal Ms. Rose rocks.

For me it is an excellent school, all its staff is very professional and above all very focused on children having a good education.

Barbara bush elementary has long surpassed the old exemplary status. this school is no longer coveted as what it used to be thanks to the HISD budget cuts, top teachers with tenure not getting paid what they should replaced with teachers right out of college and rezoning which now includes many apartments in the area with transient families. Fights are a common occurance, problems with dysfunctional families and kids using this school as a means of babysitting and not a learning environment. Principal, VP are excellent, doing the best with what they have to work with.

An excellent school, Staff and teachers are great and the most important thing is my son love it!

This school is filled with bullying and racism which is not deterred by teachers or administration! A child should never have to experience this in any school its hard enough to get through school, Dont let your child go here with bigotry and racist environment!

Honestly, I cant rate how well the other grade levels are but I did attend Barbara Bush Elementary in 5th grade. There are many great elementary schools in Texas but in HISD they can be hard to find. Barbara Bush is a decent good school. First of all, the homework level isnt too high. Second of all, there is a very great principal there (she won principal of the year in HISD). Finally, there are many fantastic teachers and successful students. If you are interested in being involved in some extra-curricular activities, there are many options involving sports, art, choir (an outstanding program), and more. Some people are looking for a challenge and Bush offers that through their GT program. Bush prepares their students for success ( right now Im attending T.H Rogers, the best public middle school in HISD) and is well-respected. I would recommend it for anyone in HISD because trust me, good schools in this school district are hard to find!!!!!!!
