This school is absolutely amazing in every way. A real review from me would be way to long and yet I could go on and on about how great they are. My 3 year old child only attended 3 months and in those 3 months there was so much improvement; it was noticeable within 2 weeks. The only reason we had to withdraw from here was to attend a school that better fits my childs needs. Before the diagnosis I needed to find a place to care for for my child. I tried multiple childcare locations and none had the patience nor the ability to do so. The staff here worked with my child and never gave up. My child was always happy to go to school and always happy at pick up time. Best experience I have ever had. I dont believe I could ever express how grateful I am to the entire staff. We miss yall!

I have 2 kids that have been enrolled here for about 18 months (2 years and 5 years old) and they both love it and are doing great! We put the 5 year old in public school to start kindergarten and quickly placed her back in Montessori after 3 months. Once back at Montessori her reading and math skills improved exponentially. She is reading full books on her own after 8 weeks back at MSODT. As for the 2 year old, he is speaking in complete sentences and loving learning. We feel very fortunate to have found such a great school with amazing staff.

Steer clear of this school! I foolishly enrolled my toddler here after relocating back to Houston because this school had been at the top of our list before we moved out of state. Looking back, I ignored some of the warning signs like not being able to interact with my childs teacher, did not tour his specific classroom because they said they try to keep the room sanitized for the kids (yet the staff walks in and out of the classrooms without shoe covers or changing shoes).Children are dropped off at the lobby of the infant school which is usually managed by the school director (Jan). She does EVERYTHING (answers phones, fetches each child at pick up and drop off, answers parents questions about the kids, etc.), and she is usually so scatter brained, but claims to know everything about every child even though she gets the facts wrong half of the time!I was surprised the first day when I picked up my son and he was in a back classroom that you cant see into and cannot walk into and we were not allowed to speak to the teacher to ask how my sons first day had gone. When I asked Jan if i could introduce myself to the teacher, she politely told me i could do so at the parent/teacher conference meetings that happen twice a year! Are you kidding me!?My son got a diaper rash a few days after starting. A rash that I would manage to clear up over the weekend and would reappeared once the week started again. I provided diaper cream and requested they apply it after every diaper change. A request that was being ignored by the teachers until the third time i asked very sternly.I also never got an accurate daily note from the electronic app used. My 18 month old always magically ate all his food and drank every drop of milk even though I know he hates milk, and he was always starving and signing or asking for food and water as soon as I got him in the car!Needless to say, I can go on and on about how unimpressed I was about this school. We withdrew my son after only the first month because i was so uneasy during the day and I could not get off work soon enough to go pick him up from that place. The cherry on the cake was reading a citation on the Texas Health & Human Services, Child Care Licensing website stating that two caregivers at the operation tied a child to a chair with a shirt as a form of discipline (8/24/16). This caught my attention especially because the classroom all the kiddos got condensed into in the mornings and evenings was one you couldnt see into directly. You never knew what the teacher, student ratio was back there, just how clean it was, what was happening back there, etc.I truly hope this review helps other parents make the right decision about this place.

Our son attended this location for a year we highly recommend it. Our son had mobility issues when he started and the staff were always patient and supportive with his needs. If you live or work around the Med center or downtown and have a little one then you should go in for a tour. Were very glad that we did.

The School of Infants is great and the teachers there are capable. There is never a shortage of teachers to make sure the children are engaged and on their own. There is always security out front so we don’t have to worry about anything. We get updates on our child’s progress regularly and Ms. Jan runs a tight ship so we have no issues with the school.

Our kids (4.5 and 2.5) have been enrolled here for almost 8 months now.Great location, amazing teachers (thank you so much Ms Karina & Isabella!!!), awesome staff. Price obviously steep, but weve found it worth the investment. We also get daily reports on the children through an app (regarding food and diaper changes and pictures for the younger one).We feel satisfied with the security level as well.Note: this is a great school if you want to learn!!!

The perfect balance between a good education, a good location, and a reasonable price. The teachers are wonderful and take great care of the kids. The bad reviews are the typical reviews youll read for any daycare and are obviously written by over stuck up over protective parents. The prices are the same as any inner loop daycare with a half decent reputation.

Personable staff and very happy baby, so the fundamentals are there. They also are very helpful in helping new parents come to grips with establishing nap schedules, weaning, and parenting skills. No shortcomings.

Both of our kids, now 5 and 3, have been at MSODT since they were infants. They have taken excellent care of my kiddos every step of the way. Always receptive to feedback, and they would work with me when I needed to adjust schedules, such as transitioning from two naps to one nap a day. They made potty training a breeze, and they let us know when it was time to start sending pull ups and eventually undies! Now both our kids are at the preprinary AKA the big school across the street from the school of infants. They are both learning and thriving. We have been happy with the school administration, and both my kids have great friends there. Drop off/ pick up is very streamlined and organized, and the location is very convenient, being close to the med center and downtown!

Would not recommend. I was trying to call to ask about enrollment, and was left on hold, sent to voice mails, and also hung up on without ever being able to reach anyone. Twice, someone quite literally picked up the telephone and very audibly hung it up without saying a single word. I shudder to think how it must be for a parent who might be trying to contact the school in an emergency situation.

I’m an ex employee of medical center school of infants. I don’t know how to even start by saying pay attention to the signs. They are exactly what they seem. The care they give staff tops everything a center who doesn’t value a teachers treatment does not value your child’s care either. “Underpaid slaved work system” is how the business is ran. No appreciation what so ever. Teachers have been employed for 10-15 years with only $9.50/ hour pay long exhausted hours. They make their teachers be dishonest with students parents about behavior, illnesses, eating routine etc. I only stayed as long as I did because I have children to support. It was a dred walking into the building every morning. Absolutely no care for employees. I was told one day that if I didn’t come into work while my child was sick I would be fired, not to mention I have to care for my own children’s needs as well. No benefits, no advances, no training, no lunchroom, no parking for staff. Terrible terrible setting not to mention they cheated some teachers out of hours illegally. I loved my kids, hated the way the business is ran. It’s a sheisty scary place would never recommend to any parent. To this day I avoid even turning down that street that place was a nightmare glad to be away. I know my students parents are curious to know why I left so suddenly it’s because they only allow the outsiders to see this pretty picture, behind the scenes every single teacher was miserable and being mistreated as a worker. I compared this to a slave trade. The owners look down on Hispanics and blacks they put them in the school of infants because of the reputation they uphold in the elementary school. We had leaks and mold in the building they never maintained which was unacceptable with the tuition rate charged. The list goes on I pray for the students parents who have no clue what they are involved with. They would even hold our checks at time as another way to manipulate the staff. Terrible, everything said negative was true. The limited access to students is only the way they stop communication between parents and teachers one message from one person KEEPS THE LIES GOING NO TRUTH CAN GET OUT THAI WAY. The parent teacher conferences are practiced and monitored like routines. It’s just terrible they made us come in on weekends which we did not get paid for to have these conferences which was MANDATORY TO KEEP YOUR JOB, But yet we received no compensation for the work hours.

I have had my daughter at MSODT for almost 3 years and have been very pleased. Are they absolutely perfect? No. Am I a perfect parent? No. But I truly believe that the staff and myself are dedicated to providing the best care and education to my daughter as well as the rest of the students. I have had minor issues that I have brought to their attention and they have been acknowledged and dealt with otherwise we would not still be there. More importantly, I have also noted my daughters attitude and overall happiness while she has been attending MSODT (she is there full-time) and I can honestly say that she is not only thriving, but she is extremely happy and excited to go to school almost every day. Of course, there are days when she just wants to stay home with her mommy, but for the most part I see that she desires to go to school and that is very important to me. I could focus and complain about the minor petty things that have come up, but instead, I acknowledged them and things have improved. All Im asking for is for people to try their best, not to be perfect, just like myself. Its all about grace. My daughters teacher is Ms. Carina whom she talks very highly of, and I cant even have a Parent-teacher phone conference call with her without my daughter begging me to talk to her, or repeatedly asking to call her over the weekend. Clearly my daughter loves her and feels genuinely loved and cared for by her which gives me so much peace. Also, I have witnessed on a consistent basis the administrative staff members such as Ms. Sam, Ms. Jan, and Mr. Ray, treat my daughter with genuine love and compassion which is not an expectation or requirement, but is such a blessing to see my child receive. My daughter is safe, happy, and thriving at MSODT and I would highly recommend enrolling your child, today.

Sorry, I had to give this dive 5 stars. I wanted the public to see my review. My 3 yr old child goes here. Yesterday, was the last straw. I picked him up and he had fresh stains on his clothes and food all over his face. I put a fresh change of clothes on him and saw that he had no pull-up or underwear on him. I got him dressed in clean clothes and wiped his face off. There was a smell coming from his backpack. I opened the plastic bag that somebody had tied to his backpack. It was his soiled underwear. Not just one pair but 2 pairs of soiled underwear. They sent his fecal home with him.( LOL) Is this a souvenir? Between all the scratches on his face and him not having on any underwear. I give Montessori a Zero. I will be calling the main office this morning and getting them to chime in on what they think is suitable care-giving? FYI where is the TLC!

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! Not worth it at all. No curriculum. Communications with parents are riddled with spelling and grammatical errors (much like the positive reviews below are- what a coincidence - cant be that they are attempting to bolster their ratings). All in all, this is not a good place for your child to build a foundation for their education & future. Absolutely terrible!

My son is currently attending pre primary at MSODT medical center branch and has been there for more than a year. I am please with the way the school staffs treat the students. I like the extra curriculums that offered on site, monthly families night activities. One thing I would suggest different for the school is the variety of the lunch menu. Overall, MSODT provides a good early education environment for my son as well as other students.

Don’t waste your money. November 2, 2017, I dropped off Avani at The Montessori School of Downtown. I did not leave any pampers, diapers, or pull-ups with her, because she is potty trained. When I picked up Avani from school, the evening of November 2nd, 2017, I realized she was wearing a soiled pull-up. This pull-up did not belong to myself nor to Avani. When I asked Jan and the other lady at the front, why Avani had a pull up on, they initially reacted surprised, and unaware that she had it on. They explained that Avani had a new teacher. I was very concerned about the care and attention Avani was receiving during her school day. I presumed the staff at The Montessori School of Downtown would be much more attentive to my child, and ensure she was taken to the restroom, after I voiced my concern of her wearing a pull-up. This November, I have noticed Avani consistently wetting her pants, an action much out of her character. Today, on November 30, 2017, I noticed Avani grabbing her inner thighs. She was a bit damp on her rear end, and crotch. When I took Avani’s pants off, I noticed they stenched of urine, and were a bit damp. Her underwear were a little damper than her pants, and smelled of urine. This indicated that Avani peed on herself during the school day, and was left unattended, and unchanged for hours. Avani now has a rash and uncomfortable itching. Avani will no longer be attending The Montessori School of Downtown.
