If you want to learn Kung Fu in the correct way, in form and function, then Chus Kung Fus where you want to go. Its a traditional style of training that the likes of Ip Man and Bruce Lee used. Come by and let Sifu Paul Chu instruct you in the ways of proper internal, form an function.

Went here years ago. Here’s a summary of what Paul said to me:“I’ll teach you a secret move for $199.”“Prices go up monthly now.”“Want to learn sword techniques for an additional $169 per month? Come on! You’ll really like it.”Got the last line each week for 6 months until I found a better martial arts instructor elsewhere.Paul is very talented at martial artist, but I often look this school up hoping it has shut down. The owner is one of the most greedy people on the planet and doesn’t care about his students. A martial arts teacher is supposed to be on the same level as a parent. This school is run by a terrible person who should retire to sell used cars. He’s more suited for that type of job.

One of the best decisions that I have ever made in my life. Tai chi has helped my health and wing chun my confidence as I travel a lot. My son, a Rice University graduate and now in the US army, also takes classes with Sifu and we have both benefited so much after two years. Genuine, professional, and amazing.

One of the best decisions I ever made was becoming a student of Paul Chu. I have been studying martial arts on and off since I was 4 years old, but I can say wholeheartedly that he is the best teacher I ever had and the real deal. While the prices may seem a tad steep for the pedestrian and average joe on the street wanting to learn spin kicks and one inch punches, the simple truth of the matter is that he does not have time for such things. Chu Sifu will teach you and he will teach you well, but it will be actual martial arts steeped in centuries of history and culture as well as practical application and defense, which makes the pricing all the more worth it. I have been a student of his for two and have never looked back; I only hope I can turn those two years into twenty.

Where to begin? Well, it has been a couple of years since I have been back due to financial and scheduling issues but I trained there for about 3 years. First half a year I wasnt really taking it seriously, but then I got a partner who was at my level and would train with me a lot. Second half of the year and the second year all together I trained pretty hard. Third year I crashed my motorcycle and the injuries piled up after that and my training suffered drastically. I had to quit when I did, but I would definitely go back if I could. I have read the other posts and fact is, Sifu just cannot spend that much time with you because he spends time with all his students. I dont think he really plays favorites, when he sees somebody doing something wrong, he goes to that person and helps them. He does his best to help those who are struggling over those who seem like they have the concept down. However, if he has students going for a tournament, he will focus heavily on those that are going to compete. The back room training if not for his favorites, it is for those who have earned that place. There is a level that you must get to before Sifu will teach you what is back there, and it takes a long time to get there but he will not deny it to those who earn it. As for people mentioning his beginner students taking on black belts, I can tell you, that is true and there is a very good reason for it. Sifu DOES NOT just give belts out. You MUST earn them. There are several students there that could honestly care less about what color their belt is and focus hard on the fundamentals. This is something I know Sifu really wants from his students. There are several schools out there eager to give out black belts. If that is what you want, go somewhere else. If you want to learn legit techniques from an qualified teacher, then check this place out. Again, I have been out of training for a couple years now but I still feel comfortable with the techniques I was taught. I have also had the opportunity to work with an Army Ranger and an x police officer who has a little Krav Maga training who were both very impressed with the techniques I was using. My first day of training at Chus Kung Fu was hilarious though. I got to work with one of the very top students. He was showing me how to block punches from two different angles and we would switch off throwing punches. I could not hit him at all. I was throwing those punches as fast as I could and switching up the angles. He was barely moving. I had to stop several times to laugh, I just could not help it. These were just the first two techniques, a couple of blocks. But I was extremely excited because I knew I was going to learn effective techniques, and I would have to say that I did. Ill be training there again, its only a matter of time.
