If you need to take a test, this is the PERFECT place. My first experience taking a test was here. I took my EC-6 and passed all my subjects at once. When I arrived I was really nervous, but Mr. Anderson was kind and that helped me to trust in my knowledge. He also put me in a room with a special whiteboard which has a lot of messages from people who has been there, they expressed their experiences and that definitely will give you such a good vibes. On the other hand, they have an excellent staff: Mrs. Maria, Ms. Daniela and Santiago are examples of teamwork, patience and professionalism. Also, at HLI you can have water, coffee or anything else that you need, you can ask to the staff. They will require you to bring your own hand sanitizer and wear your facemask all time, but let’s be honest, that’s for our own safety and if I am responsible with myself, there is no reason to get mad about it. Those are their rules and we have to follow them.I definitely will say “this is my personal testing center”, the environment conditions are the best, and if they don’t, you can ask to their staff for a change of workstation or request for a private room. It’s amazing, because at other Pearson VUE test centers, they treat you like a robot and not like a human.I recommend this place 1000%. Don’t hesitate if you have to take a test and are looking for a good experience. Thanks a lot to HLI.

The simple reason I am giving them one star is because they require you to bring your own hand sanitizer; instead of you know just giving you some to enter. Mind you they don’t care if you do or don’t sanitize after you enter the office initially. It also doesn’t help that the hand sanitizer they sell are $3 and have their logo on them so they are well aware of the opportunity to make money for charging for hand sanitizer. They are inside a office building and the gentleman had the gall to say people were stealing it. If the hand sanitizer is so important for you to make everyone bring it, it should also help if you would wear your mask when you are walking around the office. Both the gentleman who I assume is in charge and the front desk lady were either not wearing the mask or wearing them with their nose exposed.

Mr. Anderson is an amazing person, I have gone to this testing center several times to pass my EC- 6 exam and each time he was there to provided word of encouragement. The area is clean, mask is a must (so its safe) and very professional. I finally passed the first test and would be go back to test for the next 3 that I need. Thank you for that positive encouragement that we all need when we have test anxiety.

Very nice place to take the GED tests! I took all of my GED tests here! I can’t complain about anything! The lady at the front desk very friendly and professional! I recommend it to all GED test takers to consider this place!!!! Thank you Houston Language Institute!Update: I Wrote my original review before reading the reviews. I notice people complaining about A/C making too much noise (I took a language arts test when it was with the portable A/C and pass it) things happen! Do not blame on something if you’re not prepared mentally for a test! If you are picky about something do your research before leaving a bad review. Those reviews are the same like the reviews on Amazon complaining about the package being damage while the product inside is in perfect condition. Do not mind about te bad reviews.

I had an amazing experience here! I have taken multiple professional exams at a Pearson Vue Center, and this was the best by far. I normally do not write reviews on Google, but have written a few for places I truly believe deserve credit and five stars! Mr. Anderson, the manager, has done an amazing job choosing a team to operate this testing center. I took my Texas real estate exam here a few days ago, and immediately after I took the exam, the buildings power went out. A total crisis for the proctor and the other test takers who had not finished their exam. Everybody was so calm and the proctor (Maria) was so professional and accommodating. She was truly concerned about everyone and reassured each person individually that she would help them reschedule. I called Mr. Andersons cell phone, which was on the business card of the center, when I left the building to ask him his opinion of what I should do. I have not received my scores and was not sure if my test went through. He answered and was very professional. He even called me later that evening with an update and the next morning to give me my test results since their printer and system was down for over 12 hours. I am so impressed with how this testing center operates!!

Pandemic profiteering is unacceptable and unethical: be wary of this facility.I was scheduled to take a test at this facility, and when I objected to being forced to pay for my own personal bottle of hand sanitizer (with their logo) before they would let me in to take the test (and I had used the free sanitizer provided by the building where theyre located), they refused me admission and kept my fee.Essentially, they are requiring everyone to bring a personal bottle of hand sanitizer, despite the fact that their building has free hand sanitizer available and free of charge. If you do not bring one, they charge you $3 for a small bottle with their logo on the front. Supposedly they sent an email letting people know about this, but I didnt receive it because I had to reschedule my test due to an emergency surgery for an incomplete miscarriage. I explained that to the man with whom I spoke, but he insisted that I had the information and should appreciate his providing the service of $3 hand sanitizer bottles at the front desk for unprepared people like me. He denied that they were making money, but you can purchase five bottles that size at Bath and Body works for $6-8. Theres a big markup, and people have to pay it if they dont want to lose their registration fee.To make matters worse, there are key indicators that they know this is a problem and have chosen not to correct the issue. They had a crumpled paper print-out with the hand sanitizer requirement highlighted, a testament that this conversation has happened before. That copy of the email shows that the mask information is in bold, then it switches to directions about how to reach the facility. After all of this, it says that candidates should bring their own sanitizer in plain type. If they really wanted to communicate this information to people, they would put it in bold with the information about the masks rather than bury it after all the explanations for how to reach the facility. They are aware of the communication issue and have chosen to continue to force people to pay, rather than keep a bottle of sanitizer on the desk or allow people to use the free sanitizer that is already available.I feel very strongly about the businesses who profit off of the pandemic. Things are difficult enough for people at this time, and they should be held accountable. Dont support this business if you feel as I do about profiting from the public health crisis.

I went to the Houston Language Institute to take my Special Ed. supplemental Certification exam and wanted to share about my experience to help other test takers. I took the Beltway and Google maps thinks you can get to the parking lot when youre coming off the beltway ramp which is not possible, so I had to make a circle around and come back around. Maria helped me sign in and get ready for the test and she was very nice and helpful. There are little rooms with about 10 computers in them, so you will probably be with 3-7 other people taking your test. There was a lot of in and out and opening and closing the door, which could be distracting for some test takers but it wasnt too bad. The first computer I started my test on was in the corner of the room. Within the first hour I started to sweat and noticed there was not an A/C unit running, it was just a fan in the room that was blowing air. My computer froze after about an hour and a half and Maria told me if it happens again, shell move me to another computer. Then about 10 min later, as I selected an answer to a question, the computer gave me an error. I got up and went to the front and told Maria. She very quickly came and moved my test to another computer which only took a few minutes to get me back up and running again. I then noticed my new computer was directly in front of the fan. I was happy because it helped me to stop sweating and finally cool off but I realize that some people may not like being put directly in front of a fan but it helped me personally because it was so warm in the testing room, so I got lucky. All in all, it wasnt too bad and I was able to take my test and get it done but I will probably try another venue next time I take a test.

The Houston Language Institute went far beyond my expectations with providing a safe environment during these unprecedented times. I was quite nervous at the beginning with uncertainty; however, I felt confident and comfortable wearing a mask as everyone else in the center complied while testing. I know we were all protected. We were even provided earbuds! It is individuals as these that protect us all and those that wear masks in general not only protect themselves but others as well. Thank you once again!

Ive taken four certification exams at Houston Language Institute. Every time, they were professional, polite & prepared for me. I signed in quickly, the facility was very clean, the testing environment was quiet/comfortable, and the restrooms were clean. One difference this time is the ongoing COVID-19 problem. I paid careful attention to their procedure for handling materials and supplies as well as their cleaning procedure. As a teacher, Ive had a LOT of training on this and Houston Language Institute was very well prepared. I didnt notice a single issue of negligence or lack of adherence to the CDC recommended procedures and protocol for COVID-19.

I took the PMI-ACP exam today at the Houston Language Institute and my experience was very pleasant. I wasvery hesitant to take the exam in a testing center due to covid, but I had issues with the online test. The gentleman who checked me in was very kind and firm about the covid process compliance, and made sure that my hands were sanitized prior to entering the testing room. The testing room is clean, there were 4 tables and computers with proper distancing. As new testers check in and come to the room, the employees made sure that they do not disrupt ongoing testing. The room was fairly quiet and there were no distractions. Protocols are followed and an employee came in halfway thru my test to discretely disinfect with a spray. The employee even offered us some water and coffee to drink during the test, and were very helpful in answering questions.Overall a very professional and positive experience!

Stay away going to this place either for taking any certification test or any language courses. Staff is very unprofessional/abusive (YES ABUSIVE because staff member almost got physical to me so I ended up calling police for my self-protection) as well as computer/printer dont work.Let me give little more chronology of my experience with this center. Today I went to take technical certification with an expecting that this is a professional test center and I should face any logistic issues taking the test in professional test center (otherwise I would have taken the test from home office itself). After passing the test, their system crashed with missing printer driver so I requested Mr. Anderson (taking the name of the person who was abusive). He told that he cant help and I have to figure out myself by talking to Certification Provider customer care. I said then please give me in writing that I have taken the test at your center as a proof so that I can show the evidence to Certification Provides customer care (in case they ask) otherwise I will lose my $165 plus my effort for test preparation. He simply refused to give me in writing. I mentioned him that this is not what I expected from any professional test center so my experience with your test center is very bad so please dont expect good review from me. By hearing the review statement, he started blasting at me, and he said “Get out of my office”. He was so mad at me that he started charging up on me so left his facility right away. By looking his temperament, I ENDED UP CALLING POLICE FOR MY SELF PROTECTION. He didn’t stop there rather shouting and threatening from inside that he will cancel my test in the system if I give bad review.I went to this test center for the peace of mind that I should not face any logistic issue to take my certification otherwise I would have taken my certification from my home office but I ended up getting such a bad experience that I had to call police. So in summary:1) Test center didnt provide any evident that I have taken my test at this test center my test2) In return, person was very aggressive and abusive3) He was about to charged up on me (if I would have not called police)4) I ended up calling police for my self protection5) He threatened me to cancel my test in the system. Can anyone expect such behavior from any professional test center? Atleast not me, I am still in shock and this was such a bad experience ruined the happiness of passing my test successfully.
