Yes, you have found the right school! Its one of the best Massage Therapy Schools in Houston!I am a husband, entrepreneur, and father to 5 boys. Finding time to spend with my family, while running a business and excelling professionally, is always a balancing act.I currently serve as a Sports Performance & Exercise Therapy Specialist and I was seeking to increase my scope of practice as a clinical specialist.Avalons School of Massage provides convenient (go at your own pace) learning, diverse curriculum, and in-depth hands-on training. Avalon’s compassionate teachers and staff have provided what I needed to take my professionalism to the next level.

As a Student, I must say that this institution is as fine as they come. The staff and instructors are more than personable and intentional. They go above and beyond to properly educate their students on the Art of Massage therapy and the very broad history behind. On hand instructional Demos thru online and in person classes EVERY WEEK. Thai; Swedish; Shiatsu, Reflexology, and a multitude and combination of many more modalities are taught here. Great location. Great parking. Great staff. Great students. AMAZING Massages! Highly recommended.

Just got off the phone with a rep looking for a deep tissue massage and was informed that they arent doing deep tissue services at this time but 5he website says they are. How can you advertise a service on your website but not offer it. Also having licensed massage therapists on your staff that doesnt do deep tissue. Make it make sense. Before you reply with a response Ive been a licensed therapist with 16 years of experience so I know a thing or 2 about what license massage therapists can do

Really great place for massages. The student and teacher massage therapist are very professional, friendly and knowledgeable. Ive been going here for many years and have never had a bad massage. Its a very nice, clean, private, quiet and tranquil setting. The massage therapist are very accommodating. They offer several kinds of massages and up to 2 hours. Extremely relaxing.

This school is exceptional and very organized. The amount of knowledge I have acquired the first week makes me feel confident that after finishing the curriculum I will be able to execute my skills and knowledge to pass the mblex and operate a successful practice. I own 3 other businesses, working on my bachelor degree in marketing, I work full time as a consumer marketing specialist for a major automotive company, a single mother of two children under 10 and I attended avalon. The tools that this institution provides has aided me to be able to juggle my full plate is phenomenal. If you are in search for a school that values their students and the material taught look no further this is the school for you! I do not write many reviews but I hope this review can help a student in my similar situation to take the plunge and invest in themselves.

I chose this school after months of reviewing what was available in Houston, and finding the reviews for Avalon to be the most genuine. As a student, I couldnt have expected how much Id love the school. The professors are genuinely passionate about helping people, and they each bring something different. One really understands how to add a soft, personal touch to everything they teach, but has such a methodical way of working with massage. Another has a background in psychology and is pursuing their Masters in Education, and as a student who hadnt been in school for a long time, and has issues with retaining information, their ability to teach how the mind retains, and talk about massage and clients in such an inclusive, understanding way, is brilliant. Another has pursued multiple sides of health, and can relay anatomy in a way that makes it easy to understand. Another has spent their life learning about martial arts and Chinese medicine, an acupuncturist and Tai Chi teacher who advocates the importance of balance in medicine, in understanding both the Eastern and Western approach to health, as each side has its purpose. Each is a licensed massage therapist, has been through the field, and pursued their own niche with it in an inspirational way. Theyre a group of instructors that emanate peace, hold space for the class and make it an open, lovely environment.I absolutely love this school, cant speak well enough on the staff and environment they provide. Ive always wanted to be in an environment that really fosters learning, and each instructor is themselves a student, constantly pursing more knowledge. Theyre all compassionate, brilliant people, and as someone who sat in at a couple other massage schools, I couldnt be happier with my choice. The teachers are inspirational and the environment is a bit addictive. They offer classes 10-2 and 6-10, which makes it easier if things happen and youve to switch days. Were in the midst of the covid pandemic, and theyve all worked so we can continue the classes that dont require touch and not fall too behind. Classes are offered in Spanish & English, with a good bit of the staff being bilingual.Ive received massage from the clinic, and that was excellent too, and really affordable, specially when you look at costs in the surrounding area.11/10 would choose time & time again. Even the receptionist is loving & peaceful, hes the sweetest.

If youre looking for a great, no frills massage at a cheap price, I would highly recommend coming to this place! Many times, Ive been to spas where its all about the experience -- the ambiance, the nice showers, products, etc. While that is quite nice, I often find myself paying a higher price for the frills and then...a subpar massage. I had my first massage experience at Avalon and the student who worked on me was fantastic. She was attentive to my needs, adjusted pressure, and overall it was a great deep tissue experience that exceeded my expectations. Of course, I can only say for my experience as each student is different, but for 40 dollars, I really cant point out anything bad! Im happy that the students have the chance to practice, and Im also happy Im able to get a service like this that wont break the bank. Dont expect any frills, yes, the soundtrack is just one song on loop and the massage table might be squeaky, but massage and the people were wonderful!

I was a client for 2 years before deciding to choose massage as my profession.I chose Avalon because no matter the intern, I was able to get an intern that could locate my muscle imbalances and use deep tissue techniques to dispel them. At an affordable price! $40/hr!I couldnt have chosen a better school. They have dedicated instructors paired with a thorough curriculum. As well as, opportunities for work study and support for building your own practice or gaining employment. Ive been to many other massage schools as a client and had instructor massages that were not as good as intern massages here. Going to this school literally saved my life and from costly surgeries. I couldnt be happier having learned to do the same for my friends, family, and clients.Get a massage. Introduce yourself to aromatherapy. Learn about proper nutrition and exercise. Study the fundamentals of Chinese medicine and Thai massage. Experience the benefits of hydrotherapy. Solidify your finances. Learn to touch the lives of the people around you with not only your hands, but your heart.Only at Avalon.

Great price for an hour massage ($40), however skill level depends on the masseuse. I have had some amazing massages, and I have also had some mediocre ones as well.. nevertheless, for the price it is worth the experience... If you book an LMT, they are consistently exceptional.. My advice: once you find a great masseuse, continue to request them

My boyfriend surprised me for massage for my birthday and took me here. The lady was nice but a student and she had no idea how to apply pressure nor knew what she was doing. I felt like she was afraid to touch me. Need to say i felt more tense coming out of there than i did going in. I felt bad that my boyfriend wasted his money on a horrible massage. I am trying to get his money back.

I’ve had 3 separate experiences at Avalon for an intern massage. Having been to other massage schools, I was eager to try this place since it was centrally located and close to my home. Unfortunately, Avalon disappointed me all 3 times. However, I gave 2 stars because the interns were friendly. A person has to call to make a massage appt, there’s no online booking system which is a shame since other schools do.Let’s start off by the outer appearance of Avalon. The building itself is old and smells dank. The suite is outdated and tables are crammed together. The massage rooms have windows which is distracting during massage (natural light and road noise off Richmond). Curtains could not block out all sunlight. In my first experience, the ceiling fan was on at full speed. There was also wall sconce lighting that was too bright. The massage was acceptable for an intern, but what threw me off is as I was paying, I was asked if I wanted to include a tip on my card. I commented that I thought tips were not allowed for interns since they’re not yet licensed. I was given the response that the donation/tip (supposedly) goes towards the intern’s tuition. But my question is if these interns are already done with formal classes and only doing clinical massages so they gain enough hours to be eligible to sit for the licensing exam, why is a donation towards in-class tuition accepted? Hmm.. Lastly, I was not asked to complete an intern evaluation form. In my opinion, what’s the point of not asking for feedback to teach an intern how to better improve? Makes me doubt the validity of the school itself if feedback isn’t required or requested. Other schools won’t let customers leave unless feedback is given. My second experience was brief simply because they neglected to call me back. I called requesting a next day massage for anytime and was told that they still didn’t have the intern schedules done for tomorrow. The lady on the phone took my name and number and said she would call me back later that day once she had the schedules and could book me. Never called me back which shows not only poor follow through, but disorganization. So I went somewhere else.My third and final experience confirmed my thoughts of this school. The massage was awful; it’s not even worth mentioning how bad the intern was. And did Avalon ask me to complete an evaluation form critiquing the massage afterwards? Nope. Was I asked to give a tip on my payment card? Yup. Note that I paid for the massage, but feel it wasn’t even worth half the price.Verdict: Go to another massage school or spend the money and get a professional massage.
