The Christian Montessori School of Lake Norman is a great school. The teachers and staff have done an excellent job of keeping the children safe and educated during the pandemic. We were looking for a school that would educate our child with a Christian foundation. The Montessori educational philosophy added with the Christian foundation make the school truly unique to the area. We have seen tremendous growth in our daughter over the past year. She is excited to go to school each day which lets us know that we have made the right decision by choosing the Christian Montessori School of Lake Norman.

This school is wonderful. The staff, the admin, and the parents care about the kids success and growth above all else. This isnt a drop your kid off, pick them up, and dont think about it until tomorrow morning school- CMSLN is a community. The life skills and critical thinking that I see my kids developing here play out everyday. My kids want to learn to button their own coats and tie their shoes, they want to practice writing letters, and they love exploring nature. These are things they get from the Montessori environment, and their passions and interests are given the opportunity to develop as little learners at Christian Montessori School.

We switched to Christian Montessori School after my children were not getting the support they needed at a local Goddard. Since weve switched Ive seen a drastic positive change in my pre-K sons behavior. Hes also reading and doing 1st grade level math after showing an interest in them. My 3 year old daughter has shown so much progress in her independence (from getting her own snacks, using the restroom herself, washing her hands, dressing herself, and her vocabulary) and she loves the singing, reading, dancing, and outdoor time. The school is truly a community where I feel my children are being well cared for. Its clear the teachers are dedicated to their community and children as the lead teachers have been there for over a decade. With COVID, the school was closed for a bit while they figured out how to create a Montessori environment during this crazy time. They have done it right, and Im so grateful my childrens health and safety as well as the teachers are top priority. Im glad we switched and wish we had done it sooner. Highly recommend!!!

I had the blessing of having two children attend Christian Montessori School and I cant overstate the foundation they provided my children to soar! To have a montessori education that nurtured their curiosity and desire to learn grounded in Christian faith is unmatched!

Very disappointed in this school. Awful communication. I went to the first open house of the year on 9/12/19, and finally felt after touring many options in the area that this was the best school for my son. I was so relieved and excited. I spoke with Tom, head of school who gave the tour, after the open house, and was told there were some immediate openings for the classroom my son would need, but was reminded things can change daily. I completely understand this. I filled out the application and brought my $100 check the same day. In the open house we were explained the application process and was told from open house to start the quickest things could move would be approx 2 weeks. Tom gave the example of, if you apply today (Thurs) you’d hear from me by Mon or Tues about setting up an observation day for the following week. But of course, nothing can move forward without the $100 check. So I applied Thursday 9/12/19, my check was cashed 9/13/19. Myself and my husband have combined called 4 times asking for a call back or an update, leaving messages on Tom’s voicemail and with the secretary. Today is 10/20/19, and we have yet to receive any call or email back. If the spot is full, no problem, but an update or call back is not asking for too much. There are limited options for quality schools in the area and as a parent wanting the best for their children you don’t want to write a review like this because you know you will no longer be getting into the private Christian Montessori school. We’ve accepted this but I would still like a call back from one of the Board of Directors. I expected better.

They really just get it right! The teachers we had were so devoted, caring and patient. It feels like they truly care about your kids, their feelings and getting to know them personally to best teach and care for them. I have seen tons of positive growth in my child in various ways since starting here. We love all of the creative ways they teach practical life skills (class pets, class plants, how they do meal time, etc.), work cycles (great for independence and self confidence) and SO MUCH more. They help foster a love of learning and do it in such a fun way using Montessori techniques and great language/wording they consistently use. We are definitely going to miss it here!!

Great school that offers a safe, Christian learning environment, teaching in the true Montessori way. The teachers offer a nurturing environment and the kids in the classroom are like family with one another. There is great cultural diversity among the students, as well as the staff. Both of my children have attended Christian Montessori School going for the last 8 years and would highly recommend it to others. The location is great and the learning environment is customized to align with your child. I highly encourage visiting the school to see the kids in their classroom environment first hand!

LOVE this school. My son has been in the toddler program for a year and has done so well. His verbal skills have developed so well and his abilities to do things on his own (put his shoes and socks on, potty training, communicating with his peers) are directly related to him attending this school. We love the teachers here!

This school is wonderful. The feel of this place is that of a school and not of a day care. The teachers are all AMA certified and you can tell they love their students and the school family itself. Highly recommended. Im really impressed with how my toddler has responded to the Montessori environment here.

All 3 of my kids are here because of the great teachers who care about my kids. Admin too, you can just tell they love the kids. So important.

Horrible communication.We have friends whos kids attend the school so we thought it would be a good place to use. Our first experience was with trying to talk to someone both on the phone and through email to try and schedule a tour. Having no success getting someone to call or email us back we drove by the school and talked to someone (dont know her name - light skinned woman, my friends said was probably Sonya Curry the owner) whom I informed that I was trying to schedule a tour since the regular tour times were not the best times for us. She seemed lost at what I was trying to accomplish and handed me a packet. We ended up going to the regularly scheduled tour and the inquired about openings in the dates we needed. They told us that they did in fact have openings so we filled out the application and turned it in. When we called to follow up about ensuring our spot they informed us that they didnt have anything available until July 2017 which was a full 6 months past the original dates they had told us were available. Im not sure why it is so hard for them to communicate but I would not feel comfortable having my child there.Another thing is the requirement to do 20 hours community service at the school doing stuff like landscaping or cleaning. It seems a bit absurd to require the parents that pay for their kids to attend to also work at the school.
