My 5 year old daughter and I have been taking individual piano lessons at Huntersville Music Academy for over two years. Spending time at the Academy has brought us tremendous joy because there is a wonderful sense of community among the students, parents, and faculty instructors. While the development of music competency is the Academys objective, the instructors place a premium on establishing teacher-student rapport. In fact, I credit my daughters piano enthusiasm to her instructor, who consistently makes lessons fun and uplifting. Her instructor understands the restless energy of a 5-yr old and responds in skillful ways that align learning goals with attention span (e.g. segmenting lesson time between hands-on practice and music technique literacy).Optional low-key, informal as well as formal music recitals are held frequently (3 events in 2019), providing students with ample opportunity to share pieces they have been working on and to develop their readiness for public performance. No additional costs are charged for recital events.The inviting and relaxed atmosphere at the Academy makes it a great place for students of all skill levels, and especially students who are new to music and possibly anxious about getting started or resuming lessons.Of all the wonderful things about the Academy, for us, the most notable is Dawn Williams Colozzi - music instructor and owner of the Academy. Dawn’s passion for music is contagious. Many a times we have initiated a conversation about music, becoming so engrossed that we lose track of time. Dawn is kind-hearted and generous; often loaning students music books and learning tools. We are very grateful for the community spirit she brings to the Academy.In sum, Huntersville Music Academy is a town treasure for us.

If you are looking for a place in the Lake Norman area for music lessons, look no further! Huntersville Music Academy is a wonderful, homey haven in Huntersville owned by Dawn Williams. Her instructors teach piano, flute, guitar, voice, ukelele, drums, banjo and mandolin and are personable and wonderful with kids. My sons have enjoyed their 3 years at her school and their musical abilities have grown tremendously. As a parent, I also enjoy their comfortable waiting area with refreshments, the ability to be involved and watch their lessons if I choose to.

Im almost 50 years old. Ive wanted to learn to play the ukulele for years. So there I am, attending music class with my new 7-10 year old little peers. I love arriving a few minutes early to hear the youngsters being instructed and hearing them play. Theyre so cute. The staff is so positive and reassuring with the kids. You can tell the kids just love being there. Its such a positive environment.
