I was looking to sell my cello so I went in when they open. I’m the only one in the store; the guy asked me if it was a rental return. I stated that I was looking to sell it. The guy then proceeded to tell me how he has only two people working and it would be an hour wait and it was my fault because I did not call and give them notice. I was the only one in the store and they told me it was an hour wait. I bought the cello from them for over a grand a few years ago. The fact that it’s my fault for not giving them notice because there is no one there is absurd. Most likely because they did not want to give money and wanted to deter me. If you want to be cheated out of money and get blamed for being a customer, I recommend this place.

Sam Ash is my go to store for DJ gear! Normally I would make purchases in person but this was my first time buying something from Sam Ash online. The DJ controller that I bought was a discontinued floor model.that I took a chance on, but turned out to be defective. I was able to return it to the store in Huntington, NY and after confirming the purchase through their system, I was quickly refunded the purchase price. They stand by the products they sell! I have been a customer of Sam Ash from the late 80s through the 90s to present day. Theyve always throughout the years been very professional Ive never once had a problem with them. A very knowledgeable staff that are always looking to help. Im in the middle of building a new Guitar Rig and have been going frequently to the Huntington store. There is an associate that works there named Connor great guy great attitude, knows his stuff will always steer you in the right direction highly recommend Sam Ash.

I ordered a Tamma hi-hat stand for my old drum kit. I received a call from the store that it was no longer available and theyd issue a refund. I asked them to keep my info in the system and to also look into their used departments at all the store for a similar stand.

I went in and bought valve oil for my trumpet.Nice guy helped me. Went to the guitar section, no sales people bothered me. Nobody in the drum section. I was looking for Vic Firth 5b extremes. None in stock. Also, I have a classical guitar and electric guitar service plan but there is no longer a guitar tech at the store. They axed the position. From what I understand the other Sam Ash stores will honor the service contract. So, I will probably go to the other store for my future purchases. Merry Christmas !

Idk its using my gfs email but i left a review about buying buy a jbl monitor for 149 when it was priced at $99. But i went there today and the manager there is a real good dude he let me return my jbl lsr 305 and gave me the 305p mii for the $99 dollar price which was real cool so disregard my last comment i give the store 5 starz because of the new manager i think his names david... so if u are not sure if u should get equipment there I highly recommend it 100% they are verry fair at that sam ash..

Avoid this stores repair services at all costs. While Im sure this place is fine for buying strings, instruments and other miscellaneous items, and Im sure theres plenty of decent employees that work here, the repair service I was given was absolutely abysmal.I brought in a very expensive and personally valued classical guitar to have the bridge shortened, the fret edges filed down, and to repair a crack on the back of the instrument. Initially, my guitar was inspected by a rude employee at the counter who, in addition to being entirely unpleasant, gave what I later found out to be a completely false evaluation in what was wrong with the guitar, how much I should expect to pay for the repair, and the estimated repair time.I left it to be inspected by someone heading the repair department after being told that my guitar was in good hands, and that they had a luthier actually working in-store. When the man checked it out and gave me a call, he told me he could fix everything I had mentioned, and that it would most likely take around ten days. Sounded great, and I was ready to pay whatever price necessary for a quality job.I waited a month before calling and asking for an update, and I was told that it was nearly ready and to expect an update soon. This went on a few more times, until my ten days had turned into literally 2 months and a half.Finally, after calling and expressing my displeasure, I was told my guitar was ready a few days later.The result? $170 completely wasted. While the crack on the back of the guitar was initially sealed, it came undone within days, leaving me with the original problem. Fine- Ill have someone else look at it.But the bridge wasnt shortened down either. The only thing that was correctly done throughout the repair process was the filing of the fret edges, and changing of the strings.What has me so upset (and the reason Im writing this review) isnt that my time was wasted for 2 and a half months, or that I paid an exorbitant fee for practically no work- but that my instrument was literally damaged in the process. I should have taken photos prior to the repair to verify, but I have no doubt at all that there are multiple scratches on the front of the guitar that did not exist prior.I can only imagine that these came about when the repairman was working on the back of my instrument, and carelessly placed my guitar face down on whatever surface he had available.I dont even care to ask for a refund, and I certainly wouldnt bring the guitar back to let them have another go at it. I just want to inform anyone whos looking for a repair service- avoid this store if you care about the condition of your guitar. The carelessness shown in both the stores communication, and the handling of my instrument, is inexcusable. The luthier should be ashamed.

Hmm... Bought a guitar body. Theres necks and all that stuff to build your own guitar. Its probably a short thing I guess but its cool they have it. Great art but some need a buffing or a sanding and a spray. But they are cool nonetheless. One off guitars. Kind of like stuff from guitar fetish like a buyout or something. Anyway... Been going here since a child and thats a long time ago! Old location too. But I always like coming to Sam Ash because its a real music store where all departments are covered. Not that GC or something else isnt but the variety in Sam Ash is always good.

Prices are way high. Limited stock in store. Asked for a guitar box and was refused. Told they needed them.

The guitar guy there, Jake Backman, worked with me for over an hour to help me find exactly the guitar and equipment that I wanted. His knowledge, patience, and experience was invaluable to my purchasing decisions. I went in to buy a beginners ukulele instruction book. Despite the admittedly small purchase, the young man who helped me treated me with as much consideration as if I were making a several thousand dollar purchase. He recommended a book, explained notation, played a ukulele for us, and showed us how to use a tuner. I wish I remembered his name because he was outstanding! I would like to thank him for getting me excited about the ukulele.

The sales associate was very helpful and being that he was a musician himself he was able to give us a lot of insight into what would be best for our needs. I came into Sam Ash to pick up a drum for my grandson. Chris enthusiastically pointed me in the right direction and found me exactly what I needed. He had a great attitude and knew his stuff. Sam ash use to be a great music store. I spend alot of money on equipment there and on line as well. BUT the repair shop had become so unpleasant to deal with you use to be able to drop you guitars and basses of and get the repair at a reasonable time and now youve to call and make and appointment and the appointments can be one to two months away. This has turn my stomach to no end. I will not be doing any more business with Sam Ash. NOW I will bring my instruments to Murphys Music for repair.

Stopped by Sam Ash in Huntington to purchase a flute for my daughter. I was greeted by Mike Rex and his colleague Adam Hammer. What I was looking for was not in stock so Adam offered to order it for me online. I received the flute by next morning. Adam called me that afternoon (as he promised he would) to follow on getting the serial number for the extended warranty. Overall, I’m very happy with the experience. Let’s hope this flute will last us a while.

Like everybody else, I like to save money when I can, and sometimes buying certain items online - instead of at a local retail store - can save you a few bucks on sales tax. But when I invest even just a couple of dollars in sound gear, I want to see it, handle it, and put it through some tests first. This is why I continue to shop at Sam Ash of Huntington, the way I have been buying musical equipment since the late 1970s.Unlike my experiences at that other music retail store, I have only ever come across Sam Ash sales associates who either know the equipment really well or are willing to question their co-workers, pull out a user manual, or consult the manufacturer to get me the answers I need. Although I am no longer a full-time professional musician and am mostly a sound reinforcement hobbyist at this point in my life, I still visit Sam Ash whenever I need a microphone, a mixer, an amp, a cable, or some odd-ball piece of gear. They always steered me in the right direction when it counted, and they still do the right thing for me when I walk in to make a quick impulse-buy. Now that I am older and not always on top of whats new and exciting, Jen is a great resource, always willing to help and always patient and without attitude.I am grateful to have had Sam Ash when I was an aspiring teenage drummer, when I was gigging at major concert arenas in my 20s and 30s, and now that I volunteer to provide sound reinforcement at local festivals and parades. For music and sound equipment, youve gotta have your hands on the stuff before you buy it; and for hands-on shopping, theres no place like Sam Ash!

Chris Hansen, drum department manager, was absolutely excellent. He followed up with phone calls after my first visit: explained everything to me patiently and gave me a really great deal. I’m friends with many musicians and I will definitely recommend them to stop by the store and ask for him. The rest of the store has a really cool vibe.

I called up looking for a music book and didnt know the name. The associate, Adam figured out what I needed and held it until I got there. Everyone was very friendly andknowledgeable.Went again and was greeted at the door, asked if I needed help and sent right over to an associate. I am currently on a Broadway National Tour of ‘The Bodyguard The Musical’ starring Deborah Cox and have played these kinds of shows for years and Larry Fitzgerald, head of the guitar repair dept takes great care of all my guitar needs! I was in search for a Taylor GS Mini and decided to call Sam Ash of Orlando FL. Two very helpful gentleman (one in Orlando and one in Huntington) walked me through the process of getting one through Sam Ash and lining the shipping date up with my arrival to where I was vacationing. 10/10 for Sam Ash! Dont judge this store by what it looks like on the outside...inside is like walking into a musical instrument museum. You want a violin...plenty, guitars....numerous, you name it they have it. The people have unlimited patience and truly treat everyone special. If they dont have it, theyll find it for you. I thought they were one of the best stores Ive had the pleasure to do business with.

Staff is very welcoming and knowledgeable.I would ask perhaps for more options for acoustic amplifiers that have good quality, but less expensive for those explorers that have less resources. This store is great. I find the employees are significantly nicer and more willing to help than Guitar Center and a few local music stores I have been to. I brought my Martin OOO28 in for service yesterday in Huntington. The service technician was very nice. He showed me that my instrument was dry and recommended a great Diaddario humidifier that would help solve that issue and made the simple adjustment while I waited! I sure do appreciate his effort and expertise. It’s nice to deal with someone who knows and cares. I’m going to buy a couple more of those humidifiers today online from SamAsh for my other guitars. Purchased a Gibson Byrdland, Florentine cutaway, scaled down neck. Beautiful instrument. Very reasonable price. Fifth guitar that I’ve bought from the Huntington store. Staff is great-treat me like I’m an old friend. I would go there and hang out everyday if I had the time. John Heney is the man to see for guitars, but everyone there is terrific and friendly. Although the emphasis is on solid body guitars, I’ve purchase 2 incredible vintage arch top electrics. John has a great eye for vintage instruments.

I would love to give a much lower star rating, something with a negative star rating. I went in today to pick up an instrument an upon check out was told by the cashier that repairs cannot be paid for by the sam ash credit card, that services and repairs are not allowed on their own credit card. I advised the cashier that was never discussed or disclosed to us at the time we dropped off instruments nor when we called to follow up on the repair.The supposed store manager was brought over and stated yea no you cant pay for the services on their store credit card. I informed her that that was never disclosed at any point and that the staff when taking orders for repair should infect disclose that so that there is no miscommunication. Thankfully I happened to have another card on me.The managers reaction was uncalled for and by far not even an Im sorry for the misunderstanding, instead her idea was well I am getting you the credit card application and you can read the fine print its in there so I do not have to disclose anything. I proceeded to tell her how unprofessional she was being and had a minor arguement with me shouting accross the store. On the way out I asked her name and she said I do not have to give it to you. I told her I was going to do a review as well as contact corporate to discuss this issue. Her response was go ahead I dont have to tell you anything nor will I get in trouble by corporate so you do what you need.The only way I can describe her is as a disrespectful human being with no customer service etiquette and or professionalism . The manager is about 5 foot 6 to 5 foot 7 dark complexion glasses and in her mid 30s or so.

I received a beautiful Martin LXK2 for a gift with the service plan offered by Sam Ash that gives you 4 set ups annually for 2 years. Joe from the Melville store advised the people that gave me the gift that this was a grat plan so they purchased it as part of the gift.Larry in the service department has set up my guitar perfectly just after I bought it, and I just had the strings changed and he checked the set up and tweaked it so it is perfect.Great service and very nice people.
