From the very first day we stepped into Geist Martial Arts, Mr. Byrd and everyone else made us feel like family. They are so caring! Mr. Byrd likes to joke a lot and he makes it fun for us parents sitting on the sidelines. I would recommend this place to anyone. The atmosphere is just so warm and welcoming. If I could give Geist Martial Arts 6 stars, I would!!! The discipline and confidence that Mr. and Mrs. Byrd teach is like none other. You will never learn self defense like the Byrd’s teach. You will feel more comfortable in very uncomfortable situations that life throws at you. My family and I have been part of Geist Martial Arts for nearly 7 years and counting. The classes are well structured and you really get a great workout every time you walk through the doors. It’s not just a great workout, you learn a skill that you will always have with you!!!

The staff are so amazing with children of all ages. They do such a wonderful job engaging the kids and teaching them at the same time, not only martial arts but about extremely important life lessons. It has improved our sons confidence and his desire to face difficulties. I would highly recommend Geist martial arts to anyone looking for a great experience.

I love that its an activity and teachable experience that my child can partaken in up to 6 days a week. Mr. Byrd has often allow my child to partake in a different time slot if we are unable to make it to the time allotted for his belt color. I really appreciate that as a single working mother. My son loves the voices and sayings Mr. Byrd does during class. I find it entertaining and its helpful to get through scenarios in and out the gym. In addition, the parent day out or night out times are very helpful to me in that Mrs. and Mr. Byrd allow the parents to have a few hours of adult time. For instance, the black friday day Parents Day Out yesterday was helpful to get somethings done without the kid. All in all, a great place and good people.

Our daughter Molly has been going to Geist Martial Arts for over a year now and she STILL wants to go everyday! She is deaf in one ear and hard of hearing in the other. She is able to follow what is going on b/c Mr. Byrd makes the effort to make sure she does. Mr. Byrd cares for his students and shows genuine interest in each one. Mr. Bird has a personality that keeps every child engaged throughout the class which makes the kids eager to learn.

While I have only been going here for 4 months, I have enjoyed every second of it. I was looking for a way to get in shape that wasnt boring and could help with the stress of life. I was offered to try a few classes for free and after the first one I knew I wanted to start doing this full-time. I still got a few classes for free and finally made it official. The instructors are wonderful and make the class fun. They have an innate ability to keep you motivated and to push yourself. This is a great place for anyone looking to get a good workout in and theres great people to do it with. All in all a wonderful atmosphere.

We could not be happier at this school. The owners are skilled in taekwondo and equally skilled in the instruction and reinforcement of positive life skills. I have watched our children grow in confidence under their leadership. I highly recommend trying a class and getting a sense of the community that exists here.

Extremely impressed with the patience and teaching of Mr Byrd and his team. My son and daughter started at age 3. His ability to teach kids is amazing. They also have a great family atmosphere. I would recommend this for anyone looking into Martial arts.

We have thoroughly enjoyed our time at Geist Martial Arts. We joined the Kick Boxing class for a regular workout and were not disappointed. We also greatly benefited from the additional self defense courses. The Byrds are friendly, welcoming, professional and excellent instructors. I would give them six stars if I could.

The Byrds do an amazing job working with the kids not just in martial arts, but also with being kids. They work a lot on control both physically and mentally, stressing that each child is in control of all parts of their body (especially their mouths). The kids have a great time and are focused and engaged the whole time. The assistant instructors are made up of lots of black belts that started with Geist years ago and now give back by helping the younger crowd.

A fantastic family place for everyone! We love the Byrd family and the other instructors as they teach my two boys (10 and 4 years old) discipline, hard work, and kindness. The classes are well organized, fun and flexible times. My favorite part is the black belt instructors are all different ages and fun with the kids.

My son Bradley goes to Geist Martial Arts. He has loved it from day one and cant wait to go back everyday ( this is a boy I couldnt get to do anything more than once). The Bryds are awesome. And the other teachers are great. We are very happy we found them.

The Byrds are so awesome! Honestly! I have a 5 year old who adores coming to karate. She feels special when she leaves class, they know her by name and all the instructors always have so much patience for the little ones.Very blessed to have a family friendly place for our kiddo.

Love, love, love GMA! No contracts, very reasonable rates, and wonderful instructors. There are so many things to rave about, but at the top of the list would have to be he character and values of the owners, which they incorporate into their instruction. They have kept us coming for 7 years, both of our sons earning their black belts. I have thoroughly enjoyed watching all the students learn and grow over the years - its an amazing school turning out a very talented group of students. I highly recommend GMA!!

I have been coming to Geist Martial Arts for the adult fitness kickboxing classes for about 2 years. The class is suitable for beginners to advanced kickboxers of any fitness level and anyone old enough to follow instructions and use the equipment. It’s a great workout and very fun! Geist Martial Arts is family-owned by the Byrds and they teach all of the classes. They make it a very fun and stress free environment where you can learn self-defense and get in shape. Highly recommend trying it if you’re looking for a unique and enjoyable experience.

My son Kishan loves Geist Martial Arts. It’s very family friendly. We have been going to this place for few months now and even now he gets excited everyday to go to his class. Mr. Byrd is very attentive and great with kids. He keeps the classes very entertaining while teaching valuable lessons to kids and this keeps the parents also engaged sitting in the sidelines and not bored. Mr. Hayward is also great with kids and he takes his time to teach Kishan new lessons very patiently. We attended the tournament and even there Mr. Hayward was very encouraging and helpful. Geist Martial Arts is a fun, family atmosphere for children and adults alike to learn taekwondo We have attended almost 3 years now and feel all the instructors care about each child and what to see them do their best. There is never high pressure to make your child do more then they want. Mr. Byrd is funny and encourages all the kids to be the best they can be! My son has found self control, confidence and perseverance and learned tons of life lessons on how to be a better person at this studio.

Mr. Bryd does an incredible job teaching and training the kids. He runs a very authentic dojo and is great with the kids. We’ve been attending Geist martial arts for five years and have nothing but great things to say about the people and the product. Choosing Geist Martial Arts has been one of the best decisions we have made for our son. He still attends classes 2 or 3 nights a week and really looks forward to the workout and instruction. The Kick-boxing class is hard core too, a serious cardio workout!

They enforce the tenants of Tai Kwon Do in a manner that is encouraging to the kids and keeps them engaged and ready to push forward doing their absolute best all while also teaching them basic self defense skills and self confidence.I would HIGHLY recommend Geist Martial Arts to anyone looking for a studio for their child or themselves. There are 2 other studios closer to my home and Im more than willing to drive the extra 10 minutes to get to GMA for the experience my children receive there!
