I was referred to Brett via Kiteboarding group on Facebook and couldnt be happier. He is a patient, experienced and very friendly instructor who loves his job. Brett helped me with the basics of kiteboarding, tought me effective tricks to improve my water starting skills. To my surprise, he shot few videos of my lesson and shared it afterward that helped me to better analyze my session and identify my mistakes. Highly recommended!

Brett is an awesome surf instructor!! My husband and I took a semi-private lesson with him and his patience and expertise really took us to the next step. Before the class, we were at the level of being able to catch a few green waves and surfing straight down towards the beach. In just two hours with his guidance, I was able to turn on a wave and rode my longest wave to date. Needless to say, I will be taking another lesson with him the next time I’m back. Everyone should take classes from him in Maui. Thanks Brett!!

Surfing with Brett from Maui True North was the top experience our of trip to Maui. He took two of us out on the water, and both of us were riding waves in no time. My wife wouldnt stop talking about how much fun she had. Id give 10 stars if I could.

I am unable to walk and discovered this group though instagram. I went Surfing and tendon Kite Boarding. I had the best time of my life. Brett and Jen were amazing to me and my husband. I was so thrilled with the lessons and how kind and patient they were with me. I have truly found new friends and I cant wait to do it again.

My teenage daughter and son had a lesson with Brett and enjoyed themselves, catching some beginning waves! It was the kind of experience that we were looking for, personal and fun.

Brett offers a personalize experience for all ages ! Not only did we learn about surfing but we also saw whales. It’s a tough workout but so rewarding when you’ve finally caught a wave.

Brett will be the coolest guy you meet in Maui. I took his surf lesson with my boyfriend and he was amazing! It was both our first times surfing and we absolutely love it now! Brett will take his time explaining everything to you in and out of the water! He has lots of experience in the ocean and will take great care of you. Definitely the only surf school I will recommend! By far the best thing I did in Maui. I will never forget this experience!

Bret was a fantastic instructor for this first-time-surfing family—dad, an 11 year old son and 8 year old daughter. We got oriented efficiently and got in the water quickly with just the right amount and kind of instruction. Thanks to Bret we were all able to get up early and often and enjoy every minute of the experience—plus we learned a lot about our geography, the island and surfing as we waited between waves. Each of us made noticeable progress thanks to Bret’s teaching. Both kids report that their surf lesson was the highlight of our trip and dad agrees! Thank you, Bret!

Brett was great to work with - especially for my first time surfing! I got more actual time up on the board surfing than expected and had all the assistance or chill time as needed. Definitely recommend for beginners and more experienced folks, Brett will meet you at your level and make for a beautiful experience in Maui. Heads up if youve got sensitive skin I recommend leggings in addition to the rash guard! Aloha!

My 15 year-old son and I took individual lessons from Maui True North. Brett was very organized and right on time. I had previous experience kiting, and my son had never tried it. We each had an instructor who took us through the set up process, training, safety, then I hit the water, while my son learned to fly the kite on land before hitting the water. My instructor was awesome and really knew the sport well. I had a 2 way radio in my helmet, so we could communicate the whole time and he could talk me through things. My son loved his instructor and within the 3 hour lesson, he was on the water and learning to kite surf. For day 1, that is awesome, and many companies said it would take a few lessons to get on the board.We did a lot of research to find a good company in Maui and asked in some local kite shops. Brett came highly recommended and I see why. He is a great guy, has excellent equipment and really loves what he does. Both of his instructors were amazing. He made the experience great and I would recommend him to everyone. He is part of the kiting community and knows all the guys on the beach. You cant go wrong!

First time in Maui and my girlfriend and I got a tip about this guy who could really get us started when it comes to surfing.Brett is his name and surfing is his game!Im from Norway and Brett means board in Norwegian so you know its meant to be.He took time to teach us how to prep, stands and tecniques inside, on the sand and in the ocean so we would be ready.THIS DUDE KNOWS WHAT HIS DOING!He can both kite and surf, teach both and got the right equipment to make your experience the best it can be.You will not regret using Maui True North!!

Took 3 days lessons with Brett - it was awesome - Brett really did a good job : I really appreciate how he takes time to put yourself in confidence with the kite and the board and pushes you to always do the extra-mile so I could reach my goal of the day - I now can water start and stand ! I took both surf and Kitesurf lessons with Brett over 2 weeks. He is by far one of the best coaches I have ever worked with. Patient, positive, excellent instruction and I felt safe. I stepped up my game in both surfing and kitesurfing, and I can’t wait to work with Brett again.
