Very kind and genuine people. I went on a Sunday; we did a few mantra chants, read and reflected on the Sacred Text, then had a breakfast. I would definitely go again, and recommend this place to anyone seeking spiritual companionship from like minded individuals.

There is a lot of love among the devotees here, starting with the president. The building needs some work, and the ashrams accomodations are definitely for the austere, but the temple room itself is very nice.Hare Krishna!

The devotees at the temple are wonderful. They are very enthusiastic and doing so much service. I was very surprised to learn the extent of the temples book distribution efforts. They have been number two in the country (among ISKCON temples) in book distribution for the last several years. Like other ISKCON temples they have a free Sunday feast and a discourse on the Bhagavad Gita during the Sunday program. I encourage everyone to visit and support this temple.

This is an ISKCON temple, ISKCON being the INTERNATIONAL SOCIETY FOR KRSNA CONSCIOUDNESS; Krsna meaning God and Consciousness meaning a little bit more than wake up and have a cup of coffee in the morning. These folks are internationally known as the Hare Krsnas and are representives of a genuine spiritual tradition brought to the West in the 60s by its movements founder A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada, regarded by his disciples as having been a selfless servant of Krsna, which most probably he was. After their guru or acaryas passing the movement fell into the hands of young and inexperienced disciples with predictable results and has yet to recover from this period fully its once stellar reputation and the potency of its founder. This particular temple, under the direction of one of the movements stalwarts, Danavir goswami,, a sincere servant of his spiritual master Srila Prabhupada, has however made some surprising and positive changes leading in that direction, even daring to go against the grain.Though the movement has been criticised as being to Hinduism what Taco Bell is to Mexican food, this is not my experience with them. What they present is a genuine tradition of yoga aimed at linking up the individual with the divine in a process that is both scientific and results oriented, not only in the hereafter but also in the here and now, maintaining as Jesus did that the Kingdom of God is at hand, meaning to many that one does not first have to physically die to step into Gods loving pastimes which include ones soul self. This religion believes that both Krsna or God as well as the individual are both primal spiritual beings who have been around since the beginning, each individual being to Krsna as sparks are to the flame from which they sprang. In quality they teach that the spirit soul inside each and every living being is of the same spirit stuff as Godhead but the goal of this religion isnt to merge our soul substance back into the body of God but to re-establish us in loving relationships with Krsna, which, they deem to be far superior to personal oblivion and much more in line with Krsnas purpose in creating us, which was to enjoy loving relationships with us and as we all know, it takes two to tango, which brings us to Krsna, who in addition to being forever young and beautiful is also the greatest musician and dancer, He is also the humblest, often presenting His devotees as greater than Him and representing Himself as just another player in the band. This religion offers a God that is refreshingly different than the testy old senior of the Old Testament. The very name of Krsna means All attractive and in the conjugal relationship of the divine masculine and feminine, personified in the sweet loving relationship between Radha and Krsna, we have what is to many, the highest theistic conception. The temple appears to be an old church, somewhat delapitated and not altogether in the best part of town but they are working on improvment and outreach to the beighborhood and community. Its worth it to visit, just to.see the deities they worship, which are installed by a Theurgy long forgotten in the West and which therefore makes them more than merely representational of the Godhead. In other words God IS there. It is also worth it just to avail oneself of the association of a truely Noble soul in the person of Danavir goswami, whose knowledge of his faith is encyclopedic,. There are also some very nice members of the Hindu community who provide both food and service at the temples free Sunday love feast. In culturally starved Kansas city this experience qualifies as a real treat. Come and enjoy. This is the only religion I know where singing, dancing and stuffing your face with delicious food are seen as being the best ways to make spiritual advancement and make God or Krsna happy.
