The Get Out of Auto Mode Workshop with Hector is amazing. I went in with no knowledge of how to use my camera. Hector made everyone feel comfortable and gave us a ton of knowledge as well as a full day of hands on learning. I left with more than enough information to practice on using full manual mode. My favorite part of the workshop was Hectors passion for capturing moments in life and his love for sharing what he knows and inspiring others wanting to capture better pictures or become a photographer themselves one day. I immediately got back into my online photography class that wasn’t working out before and it no longer sounds like a foreign language! This was the best step I could have taken into getting comfortable with my camera and giving me the inspiration to push myself further to my photography goals. Would definitely recommend for anyone.

I am a long time photographer- strictly in auto mode. Very excited with Hectors class. I came away with a knowledge of how to use all the buttons and functions on the camera, outside of auto. I am excited to apply everything I learned to get that perfect lighting & effect.

The camera class provided by Hector was top notch. He went over all the things I needed to know and even taught me some things I wasnt even aware of. The location and fellow class mates were the perfect combination for a day at the park. Well worth my time. Thank you Hector.

This class was everything I needed to start taking good pictures and come out and use MANUAL!!! Hector is a creative and enthusiastic person, he had everything organised and ready to start the class early in the morning. The class was fun and motivating, never felt it was long... we even left the park when it was really dark and cold! we were having fun, it was also challenging to use my camera at night! I was ready to put everything into practice by myself the next day! I highly recommend the class for anyone who wants to know how the digital camera works!!

This was by far the best class I could have took to learn how to use my camera! I have been shooting in auto mode since I got my camera but no more! Hector is the best teacher I could have asked for. He is very informative and patient. I could tell that he loves to teach as he did not rush anything. He even provided information that we could take home to keep practicing. I did not expect that. The Get out of auto mode workshop is great! If you are looking to learn how to use the buttons and functions of your camera this is it!!! My only regret is that I didnt take this class before. I wasted years with my canon not knowing how to use it. Hector is a great teacher and keeps the energy and flow of the class at an amazing level. He is very professional and I was very impressed on how prepared he was with the details, our homework 1 week before, every email with communication about the workshop, our materials for class. Last weekend I took Hectors Get Out of Auto Mode class in Las Vegas. It was the best decision Ive made and was money well spent! I had some knowledge going into the class from a brief 2 hour presentation class, but this goes well beyond that. He helps you understand your camera, and then puts you in situations to help give you hands on experience. It is an all day workshop, but goes quickly. He is very well prepared and creates an area you use for the day. He has a tent and chairs for a comfortable learning environment and provides water, Gatorade and snacks to help get you through the day. You do have homework he assigns the week before, but it helps get everyone to a place where everyone has a similar understanding of the camera, which helps the class progress. When you arrive, you receive a very large handbook in a 3 ring binder of everything you go over in the class, which is great to look back at as you practice. His hands-on exercises helped demonstrate a concept and made it easier to learn and remember. This was probably one of the best classes in general that Ive taken and felt like I got a ton out of it. I feel a lot more confident in the pictures I am taking now and look forward to using this as a foundation to continue to grow from. Hector is a phenomenal teacher and a great photographer. If you are even considering taking one of his classes, do it. You wont regret it.

I took Hectors workshop on March 17th, 2018. It was hands on, informative, and practice rich. He provided tons of resources and thoroughly explained HOW the camera works so I am able to use it in my specific situations. The workshop was long and jam-packed with good tools. Plus Hector is a really nice guy who made learning accessible and you can see how passionate and skilled he is. Thank you!

Loved, loved, loved this class! Hector did an amazing job of providing so much information and presenting it in a way that was both fun and practical. Great combination of book discussions and practicing of the concepts using our own cameras. I recommend this class to anyone who wants to get the most out of their cameras and learn to take incredible photos.

Who says you cant teach an old dog new tricks? Ive owned SLR cameras for more years than I want to admit to but the shift to a DSLR was a bit overwhelming. After Hectors class Im now more knowledgeable and confident in the use of my camera. This class is a must if your a beginner and is a great refresher for old times like me. Youll get your monies worth I promise. Its also a lot of fun!

Took the No More Auto Mode workshop today, and was extremely impressed with the amount of knowledge I gained and with Hectors teaching methods. I highly recommend this class for anyone who wants to take the first step in learning how to harness the power of their camera.

On June 2, 2018, I participated in Hector’s “Get Out of Auto” class. Prior to the class, Hector provides you with some homework. At first (and second) reading, it was very confusing; however, after reading the manual and then the homework again, and practicing what Hector was saying, it began to make sense. That is the key PRACTICE! Before the class – it will make knowing what is going on in the class much easier.Hector is very organized and prepared. He thought of everything needed for the class – seating chart so those with similar cameras were grouped together, props, benches, canopies to keep everyone out of the sun, water and Gatorade to keep you hydrated and chips to snack on. The directions on where to park and where to find him were spot on (if one bothers to actually read them)Hector provided everyone with a 3-ring binder with lots of information and covered it all throughout the day. We would go through sections of the binder and then shoot pictures to practice what we had reviewed. Then review another section, then practice. Hector is SO PATIENT!!!!I agree with another reviewer there is A LOT to be learned/retained in one day and it is a long day – maybe that’s a sign I’m getting older – however, that said, everything covered in the class is included in the notebook so I can refer back to it if needed while I am practicing. As with anything – PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE is the key.I am looking forward to practicing and using everything Hector taught us on Saturday and hopeful I will get some beautiful pictures when we cruise the Panama Canal this September – and I shoot in MANUAL – no more AUTO!!!!I will definitely be taking another class with Hector in the future. More than anything, Hector made learning FUN! He’s a GREAT instructor, loves what he does and shares his passion with all.

I have been looking for classes to learn more about my camera and photography in general. I was past a beginners stage (at least I think so) and was looking for something more in depth in order to better compose my pictures and become more proficient in using Manual Mode. In Las Vegas, I was not able to find anything that met those criteria ... until I found Hector Gonzalezs DSLRclasses.com. This class surpassed my every expectation. Professionally given by Mr. Gonazalez, who manages to keep it fun while being concise and clear on explanations, that could overwhelm many, a full days class, with materials for you to take home. Many would charge much more for this class, but it is so evident that Mr. Gonzalez loves his craft, but here is the clincher, he can teach! This is class is worth your time and worth every penny. Small class and individual attention, could not ask for more. I cannot wait to start practicing what I learned.

Hectors basic photography is awesome! I learned a lot from handing my DSLR camera to connecting the dots between aperture, shutter speed and ISO to get a good perspective in your shots.But the great thing I learn is using my camera in manual mode. Its like learning to ride a bike for the first time or driving a manual transmission car alone in a stop and go traffic. Its a great help to unleash my creativity in my shots.So take the class....plunge in and learn. You will never regret it. It open your mind to the wonderful world of photography.

I took Hectors class Get Out Of Auto & I would highly recommend the class to any one that is interested in learning how to use their camera to take better pictures. I took a more expensive & longer series of classes previously (taught by someone else) but learned more from Hector in one day. The class is composed of Hector teaching a lesson followed by a session of using the knowledge taking pictures. The class was fun but much more important I gained a lot of knowledge & I am excited by taking pictures. I cant wait to put my new found skills to use. I will not be using my DSLR camera as a point & shoot anymore.

I signed up for the Beginner Photo course while visiting LasVegas from Toronto, Canada and was pleasantly surprised. With ‘hands-on’ training, in a park environment, we learned how to use manual settings for everything from portraits to sports. Everything you wanted to know Hector covered it and more. It was definitely a full day of intense learning. It was amazing and the price was great. Looking forward to the advanced course next time.
