I took the basic rider course recently and Mike was a great instructor. He’s stern with correction because he prioritizes safety above all else, but he’s fun and still makes the course enjoyable. From class time to conversations during breaks, it’s very apparent that he’s well beyond a competent riding coach. He makes sure you understand why you do certain things, not just how to do them. I’m confident that I have a good platform on which to build my riding skills.A word to the wise - if you are an individual who burns easily, I would recommend bringing your own full face helmet if possible. The half helmets protect your melon from injury, but not from the sun and sunscreen only goes so far. Happy riding!

Just completed the beginner’s class and Michael did an awesome job keeping the riders relaxed and creating a positive, fun learning environment. He was clear about what was expected, what we did wrong/how to correct it and quick to complement/encourage when improvements were made. What a great experience. Im so glad we (me and two sons) took our basic rider (motorcycle license) course from Lone Star Bikers. They teach the course within the requirements of the state, but they make sure to make it a positive experience all around, start to finish. The instructor makes the class laid back and enjoyable. Even the classroom part was enjoyable (a real accomplishment since its essentially drivers ed/defensive driving).Once we were out on the range it was silly amounts of fun (one of our instructors catch phrases 😉). Theres no hurrying, no drill sergeant grilling. The instructors are knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely enjoy helping. The feedback during the driving exercises was always useful and easy to apply, and helped us improve quickly.I was concerned about the fact that we were learning on manual transmission motorcycles. But it was a non-issue. The well-designed curriculum and the great instruction got us going with engaging the gears and driving and moving on to technique very quickly. My sons and I couldnt fit the typical schedule of courses at any of the local schools. I contacted a few through their websites and Carrie, the owner of Lone Star Bikers, responded almost immediately and made room in her personal schedule to accommodate our request -- and she still only charged us the regular class price even though I was expecting (and had said I was willing) to pay higher private lessons pricing. So thanks again Carrie for your help and genuine kindness, and I look forward to coming back for an intermediate course in the future.

This was worth every penny. I came as someone who’s been riding for about 6 months and took the intermediate(?) course. Mike was my instructor and the definition of someone that actually teaches you things in a way you can understand and remember as opposed to just saying “go here, do this” etc. the trainers are like actual pros at riding all kinds of bikes. I’m glad I went with these folks for my class. I’m a better and safer rider for having done it.Recommend!

Carrie is a great instructor, I took the beginner MSF course with her. I had never been on a motorcycle prior to taking this class. In two days I saw drastic improvement in my skills and passed the course. Carrie makes sure that every student has the best possible chance at succeeding. Note - not everyone will pass the class. You have to come in with a ready to learn attitude. I was having some trouble learning the clutch the first day, and Carrie offered to have me come early the next day before class started for some individual instruction. I highly recommend Carrie and her company for anyone looking to learn to ride a motorcycle, she will make sure you are safe and enjoy the course. Even after the class Carrie is very open to answering any questions about motorcycles that you might have. This is a great place to learn to ride.

Attended class on Dec 19~20. Mr. Scott was my riding instructor. He was very professional and while teaching a group of people, he did not forget to provide feedback to each individual. I was pleasantly surprised because he memorized all of our names shortly after class started. My point is this is not just a take the class and pass type of class, everything they do is by the book. But dont let that intimidate you because if you follow the instructions you will be good to go at the evaluation. They will pay attention to each individual and you will get tailored training experience regardless of your skill level. Also as a veteran, I recommend this place to other brothers and sisters who are active or veterans since they offer military discounts. Recommend without reservation, go have fun!

Took this class few months ago and I am so glad I did. I feel much more confident practicing on my own around the neighborhood. The classroom is located inside The Music City Mall right next to Dillard’s level 1. Dillard’s is closed when class starts so I had to walk through the main mall (ENTRANCE 3 ), make a left and walk all the way before hitting Dillard’s department. Class room is spacious and clean. Setting is very professional. Carrie our instructor was very laid back and easy to get along with which helped a lot in calming my nerves—making my first riding experience very pleasant.

I took the beginner course with Carrie, who also owns Lone Star Bikers. Absolutely amazing. Carrie was attentive and helpful. Her teaching style is about as good as it gets and I mean not just for teaching to ride, in general. Shes patient, wildly encouraging/full of enthusiasm, and does everything within her power to help you pass, and be a safe rider. Her entire focus is getting safe riders on the rode. One bit of advice: If you havent rode a bike in years, look for a bicycle tour around town or bicycle rental and refresh yourself. Trust me, just a few hours on a bicycle if you havent been on one in years can make a huge difference, and get you back used to balancing/turning. I will likely take an advanced course with Carrie in the future as well.

I was a little worried that the MSF course was going to be annoying and possible waste of time and money. After the two day course with Lone Star Bikers, I see I was totally wrong. Carrie was our instructor; it was clear to see she had a real passion for what she does as she gave real world input, tips, advice, and told stories from her own motorcycling experiences. Our class was of 6 students, and we were able to finish a little ahead of our scheduled time: about 2pm on a Friday as opposed to 4:30pm. We had not rushed, everything simply went smoothly and quickly. At the end I was totally satisfied with what I had learned/done for the time/money I spent. Absolutely worth it. First, I did not pass this course on the first try. I am totally brand new to motorcycling and the use of a clutch, which the latter proved to be a struggle for me to fully grasp. By the end I was stalling out about 2 out of 10 lift offs. I considered this pretty successful given where I started. You will definitely learn a ton of important skills in this class and the instructors work hard to push safety and correct bad habits (i.e. covering the brake). Something I really appreciated. The written portion of the exam was not too difficult and should be passable by anyone paying attention throughout the class. IMO, there is room for improvement with one of the instructor’s attitude. He was pretty condescending and did not like repeating himself more than once. Several times I observed him be inappropriately rude to classmates who asked a reasonable clarification of an objective. Other classmates commented to me that the range instructions were confusing at times. I think it would be super helpful to include a slide or two during classroom instruction that shows a picture of the range and what is considered the “gate”, etc. Perhaps this would reduce the amount of questions that come up while out on the range. I completely accept and appreciate that not everyone will pass this class. It is important to ensure people are safe and responsible riders. However, it would have been helpful to receive constructive feedback when told you did not pass. I received none. A piece of paper showing which parts you failed/pass would have been great. I knew I didn’t have the friction zone perfected and expected that to be a ding but I thought I had done reasonably well on the other portions of the test. Overall, I recommend the Lone Star BRC. Be forewarned that successful completion of this course requires a rapid progression in skill/technique which can be a heavy lift for some people. This is something you would be faced in any BRC and is not the fault of Lone Star. In my case, I was not able to master the friction zone in that amount of time. More practice would fix that. I plan to ride scooters and electric motorcycles in the future so this won’t be a skill I would have to utilize much in the future 😊 Good luck and be prepared to have fun!

6/8 UPDATE:After posting this review, the owner gave me a quid pro quo and told me that there will be no remedial class unless I delete this review. This type of handling is a perfect example why this business lacks work ethics. Not even mentioning an unwillingness to apologize for giving a bad experience. I was unsafe and unstable after 2 minutes of the class. Yes, sure. Being held hostage? All I did was sharing my honest experience with this business.5/28 ORIGINAL REVIEW:Never had a motorcycle experience before. Registered for a 2-days Beginner course with Jim.Day 1 was okay: had some issues with a friction zone and shifting gears smoothly. Jim polished it with me during the lunch break, which was very beneficial. The main routine for every exercise is the same: the instructor monotonically reads the long instructions from a book and expects everyone to remember every single detail. Then, when asked questions, he answered in a demeaning tone which discourages to ask anything else. I was not doing great the first day of the class. Obviously, I did a lot of mistakes but had some progress too. The instructor was cheering when I did some of the exercises correctly and barked when I did something wrong. Fair.On Day2, at 7:30 am before the class started, Jim suggested that I try a scooter, he did not want the owner Carrie to see that any damages are made to the bikes. I never fell off the motorcycle nor damaged the motorcycle, except stalling the engine on Day 1, which is expected. I was able to balance myself on a motorcycle: did turns, U-turns and smooth stops and acceleration. We agreed to do the switch if I struggle with a clutch. Class started at around 7:45. I proceeded to do the exercise and stalled the engine once. Jim insisted that I switch to scooter. I was surprised to see that he would not give me another chance to try but I followed the lead. I sat on a scooter for 2 minutes if not less, and completed the same exercise. I had to adjust and get myself comfortable with the new machine. It was only a minute or two since I first sat on it. After I completed the exercise, Jim asked me to stop the engine and informed me that I am disqualified. When asked what did I do wrong, he wouldn’t not give me a specific answer nor a feedback. Instead, he referred to Day 1, when I asked him about a prerequisite of riding a bicycle (I DO KNOW how to ride a bicycle. The reason I asked is that I did not ride bicycles for a year, and never owned one - only rented and practiced on friends bikes). This made him feel that I dont know how to ride a bicycle. He said that I am a danger to myself, he is not comfortable with me being in the class and he wants me to leave the lot. I explained him that I was trying to find the balance for the scooter that I sat on literally seconds ago, but his mind was made up. The class started at 7:45 and I was disqualified at around 7:47. This was all staged.Obviously, it was easier for Jim to work with students who already have some experience. We were a group of 6 students and I was the only one with no experience. At first, I appreciated Jim when he tried to help me one-on-one, but in the end, it turned out to be just for a checkmark. Eventually he realized that it would be easier for him to work with more experienced riders.I was not given the opportunity to participate and learn. This decision was made before Day 2 even started. One mistake - I am being kicked out. This is exactly what happened.I called the office for a refund and was denied by Carrie. I told her that the way I was treated indicates a terrible work ethics towards the beginners who are the main audience for this course. Carrie told me that she was surprised to see that I appeared on Day 2 because I stalled the engine many times on Day 1 and that I was supposed to be gone. Nothing to be surprised about: I paid for a 2-days course and I expect to get a 2-days course. In the end, Carrie offered me a free class with her. She promised to work with me on my mistakes. I will be willing to update my review accordingly.

Honestly speaking class room discussions were so cool that I didnt have any difficulty in getting through the written test. Also, never felt tedious while taking driving exercise as it was fun filled through out. I would strongly recommend.

Very happy with this class. I cannot say enough good things about our instructor, Mac. He was completely professional and focused on properly preparing us to ride. He tought at a comfortable gradient so we never felt overwhelmed. Mac answered any questions we had and his knowledge about every aspect of this class was impressive. Highly recommended!

I had the privilege of taking my course with this company when they made the drive to Odessa, TX..… even if it was quite a few years ago. They made sure everybody in the class and in the area of our training was safe and accounted for the entire time. I will on.y recommend Lone Star Bikers to my friends and family, that I want to be educated and knowledgeable of SAFE operations of a motorcycle. The fact I didn’t have to remind them over and over about TCOLE credit was a huge plus as well.

I was the lucky guy who got to train in that brand new V-Star. That bike was perfect. Happy I didt drop it. Jason was a great teacher, seeing the small mistakes i was making and giving advice that was on point. He cares about his students, wanting to impart on us the best and safest riding experience. I highly recommend Lone STAR Bikers, specially if you can get Jason as the instructor.

Our instructor Carrie was super helpful and sweet during our intermediate course, I have been riding with no license for a while. Finally decided to get legal and I couldnt have chosen a better place to get my safety course done. If you are looking to get this course done, look no more and schedule with lone star bikers. Time to hit the road 🛵🛵🛵🛵

Took the Basic Riders Course here and wanted to say that the instructor was awesome and I found the course to be of great value. The bikes were in good shape, the course and explanation of each activity was just enough but extra information was available if needed. If youre close enough, I highly recommend taking the course here!

Loved the class. John Stancoff did a great job. One the second day we did lose someone because they couldnt follow directions and we were gaining speed in our exercises so it was going to be dangerous to have him out on the course with everyone else. John thanks for the great experience!

Everything was well put organized and well put together. Our RiderCoach showed a genuine interest in all of us and made sure we understood what we were doing through each section. I loved this course and would recommend it to anyone interested in getting their motorcycle license or just wants to learn how to ride. Thanks Danielle for believing in me! :)

Great experience. You just need to know how to ride a bicycle. I took it and it was interesting, most learners had no experience at first, as soon as we got the second day of training, all of us pass it and get the certificate. I recommend this place for everyone, its better than all other places here in Texas, in LoneStarBikers, there is no way to fail. Great experience, learned many things from them, especially the safety and how to save your life. Recommend this place.

Had worst experience related to Basic rider course. If you are new to motorcycle riding, avoid this course. They train a batch of 8 people and rush them all to complete the whole training. They dont even care if you are properly handling the motorcycle. After few rounds of tests, the trainer ‘suggest’ you to drop since you are not keeping up with the rest. In our batch, 3 were new to motorcycle and they were sent back. Those 5 people who already knew handling motorcycle were retained. I wasted 250 dollars for nothing.

I took the Basic course this weekend with Louie instructing. He was very patient with the new riders. Yes, the course can be frustrating as a first time rider when it comes to low speed maneuvers, but those requirements are set by the state. Overall, I am very glad I chose this school, and feel very lucky to have gotten the instructor that I did. Thanks! As an aside, when I enrolled online I selected the McKinney location. Turned out, the classroom was in south Plano and the range in Garland. No big deal, just FYI!See yall on the road!

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE!If you are a beginner DO NOT REGISTER FOR THIS COURSE! John is the instructor in Lewisville and he is an old inpatient unsympathetic *** who can not help you with learning. And if you make mistake during riding after 2 times hell kick you out of the course and theyll not pay your $250 back. He has no idea what his duty as instructor is. (To teach the people how to ride !!!!)The first day after 2 hours riding I had a problem with shifting gear, he made me so nervous, he gave me 2 chance and... that was! He said he cant help me and asked me to leave. Im gonna let DPS to know about that. Cause its like fraud.

This is the WORST experience I ever had in the training class. Leave AWAY from this school !!!I took 2 day basic course for beginner. The coach Jason (also the owner) is playing his cell phone all the time on the class from day 1, even on the instruction session, with people sitting around him and responding his so-called questions. I know he was listening at the same time, but this attitude is awful. There are totally 3 students on this class, including me. I am not sure if thats the reason why he trusted us like that. If you asked him too many questions, he will be upset. He prefer professional question, not beginners. As a foreigner, I can not understand his command sometimes, and he is very demanding and act as a boss, even you sit on the bike and put your kickstand down and wait for others, he will come to interrupt you, because he did not command you to put your kickstand down.Besides, he changed his class schedule as he wanted from 8:30am to 7:45am on day 2, without consulting with other students or give any reason, just simply demanding come at 7:45am tomorrow, not be late at end of the first day. On the first day, he did not follow the schedule either and end the training session ahead of time. This is the same complaint I heard from other student. The most ridiculous thing is he refused to continue to serve me on day 2 in the morning, because I texted him my car did not start up in the early morning in order to let others not waiting for me, although I finally did start my car and drove all the way to the training field on time. I explained everything, but this guy did not listen. What he claimed is You do not say you tried your best to come in your text. It is true I did not have time to text this sentence to satisfy his special request, because I tried my best to come over, and there is no way to know in advance when my car could be started. After my explanation, he still refused to place my motorbike out from his garage, although it will only take him a few minutes to do so, because he assume I would not come, totally IGNORING the fact I was standing in front of him asking for the service. Then he said I do not have time to talk to you. You need to reschedule and pay another 105 dollars. I was very upset, even called the police officer to come over.He then called me again later afternoon to discuss reschedule the time, and expecting to charge me again. I checked his website, even reschedule cost is 100, not sure why he said 105. What this company care is ONLY your money. BAD SERVICE!! NOT Worthy!

I wish I could give 0 stars. My husband and I attended this course today it was a waste of 3 hours we learned nothing that was on the test. We ended up not passing the written along with 2 other students in the class the only people who passed were the other 2 guys who already have experience riding a motorcycle. The test was not worded well. We wasted our time and money here they teach you nothing in the class that matters.. stay awayyy especially if you have no experience riding a motorcycle.

I had ridden and raced dirt bikes as a kid so never really got much exposure to street riding. Hadnt been on a bike in over 25 years and realized it was time to get back to something I loved to do.I really thought I knew how to ride a motorcycle before I took the class at Lone Star Bikers. I also thought the class might be tedious and boring. I could not have been more wrong on both counts.I had a great time learning from Jason. It was a lot of fun, and, it was a serious quality education. The things I learned will make me a safer rider which, Im convinced, will make riding that much more enjoyable. The location was perfect for me. The bikes and equipment were very well maintained. The pace of the class was perfect. The safety information was delivered so that it would not be forgotten. Finally, due to work, I had to wait about three weeks after the class to go get my actual license. I had forgotten about the test part of the license process and had not studied. I passed with flying colors based on what I learned from Jasons course instruction. I am proud of the additional M on my new license and show it off whenever I get the chance. (Important: I do recommend studying for the test.)If you have the dream of getting back on a bike or have never ridden before (or maybe you just want to get legal), I strongly recommend letting Lone Star Bikers help you get there.

This company is a scam as far as I am concerned. I paid for the class online back on March 12th 2018. I was scheduled to take the class on the 17th. But due to the sudden death of a friend. I had to attend his funeral on the same day as the class. I called Lone Star Bikers and informed them that I would not be able to make the class, and why. The person on the other end informed me that I can call back to reschedule. The problem started when I tried to call them back. Five months, 9 voicemails, and one threatening email later...Tony finally called me back. After I explained the situation to him. He became somewhat crass and told me that per his notes, I was a “no call no show” and that their policy dictates that there is no refund and I can’t be rescheduled. He was unwilling to work with me. And unwilling to accept the fact that he or someone else made a mistake on their end. So after telling him that I will be escalating the situation, he refused to give me his last name, and basically hung up on me. So I went back to myConfirmation email from this company, and read their policy. It clearly states that I can be rescheduled but have to pay rescheduling fee. And furthermore, there is absolutely zero verbiage that says ANYTHING about no call no shows. So obviously Tony was shooting from the hip on our phone conversation, and doesn’t even know the wording of his own policy. So either this company makes it right by me and reschedules myClass, refunds myMoney, or there will be charges of theft coming their way for sure.

They are not helpful if you are beginner. The instructor Brad was grouchy and impatient. On the second day he dismissed me saying that I was dangerous even though I did not even scrape a bike, fall down or came remotely close to hitting anyone. He came very close to attacking me. He became incensed that I had misunderstood on how to make a turn and he lunged at me like he was going to jump me. I could tell that in the past there had been other dangerous drivers. Most of of the bikes had damage and scrapes and some had dangling signal lights. It took him two days to decide I was dangerous but in my opinion he was the dangerous one because he came at me like he was about to punch me in the face. Shame on him for picking on a 66 year old senior Believe me if you have little experience at least this instructor will not take the extra time to help you and they are a money grabbing company that will not issue refunds.

I had a HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! My brother & I wanted this to be a fun experience together and we both have no prior motorcycle riding experience. We had John Stancoff and this was a BEGINNERS COURSE. This instructor was rude, arrogant, and demeaning the whole entire time! He did not show us the different parts of the bike, he just let us search around for it while he stood there. Then when we asked questions, he answered in a demeaning tone or just looked at us like we were stupid. Other members of the class felt this way too as most of us were beginners, never been on a bike before. My brother was having some trouble with the really crappy bike he was on and the instructor got frustrated with him for asking questions and him not getting it quick enough and out of nowhere just told him to leave. The point of a beginners class is to be properly taught and to ask questions with a patient and kind mentor....this was not the case. I did not feel comfortable throughout the first day because of the instructors attitude. He acted like he was superior to everyone else and we were all inferior. This guy should NOT be an instructor teaching a beginners course. He had zero patience with us and it wasnt fair to my brother. We tried to get a refund because of the way we were treated but doesnt look like they are going to give one. I would definitely not recommend this instructor or this course because of this really awful experience. DO NOT GET JOHN!!!
