Smelly pickle really? I don’t think smelly pickle is a student’s name either and how could you possibly even know every students name? Lame!!! What Ryan said was correct to an extent. The makeup they provide there is not “FINE” and it shouldn’t even be “FINE”. “FINE” you can find in down town LA. For the price that is paid for the kits, the makeup should be way better. The majority of the teachers complain about the makeup and tools that are given because it is not up to industry standard or maybe it is but 80’s standard. You can’t do the externships with the majority of the makeup because it is not good enough for things beyond practice. You have to buy better products that are not offered if you want to do professional jobs. The curriculum also needs work its outdated, boring and for the most part irrelevant. It is a good school but there are better. There are a million reasons not to attend but for someone who wants to learn there is one reason to attend here.. financial aid.

I had a pretty good experience at this school. I went in not knowing anything about Theater,Film, and Special Effects and graduated with so much knowledge. The career services has improved greatly since I graduated and has got me a few jobs. In general, the school has improved so much with doing new workshops and revamping the school with a new modern look. The great thing about this school and the main reason why I chose it, is that its only two days a week which allowed me to still work my full time job. If you want a good education and you cant dedicate yourself M-F to school this is a great place to go. It also offers financial aid, loans, and a payment plan if you cant afford it.

I attended EI school of makeup from 2010 - 2011 and really enjoyed my time there. The faculty is very hands on, works personally and closely with the students and are really experienced in the world of cosmeticsThe teachers work close with you, especially Rich (Knight). The students are assigned to work in groups so its a more socializing environment. Ive gotten close to a lot of students and made a lot of friends to make my school experience a lot better. Tuition is not bad compared to other makeup academies out there. The classes were enjoyable as well. Its the whole emphasis on the attention to detail that sets this school apart from others. The experience is there as well. Would I recommend this school to a friend pursuing this subject? Yes, of course!

I regretted enrolling up to this school. I am so disappointed with the education. They used false advertising when they lured me in. They dont have any of those big shot Hollywood makeup artist instructors. Teachers are below average. This school is waste of time or money. Head of the school is under investigation for pocketing the money. Student kits are lousy. Nothing that you would want to use in real life set environment. If i could give no star I would. Dont even go there to waste your time.

I wish I could give a lower rating. The school has not benn around for 50 years. It has been around for only 7 years. 3 of those online. They are not an accredited at all they dont take VA help or anything else. The head of the school is under investigation for misplaced funds and pocketing some. They had a 95% turn around rate, which means 95% of the teachers quit. At conventions they dont use students thats all teachers trying to lure people in. As well as the enrollment officers get commission off how many students they put it a seat. The makeup store is always out of products and they never restock it and the kits your get are pathetic. Youll spend $650 on that and end up going to spend another $600 for better makeup since what they give you sucks.

I was enrolled in 2007. The school is so-so. I learned a few good things and then there are things that I would never use on a person. Finding a job after the school was not easy! I currently do weddings on occasion but for the most part my career is nothing. Not much help in that department. The teachers are caring for the most part. As always there are few that apples in the bunch. Currently in a Lot of debt from the school with nothing to show for it. Never received my paper degree I would like to know if they are still around as a school. They currently do not have a Facebook profile anymore which I find odd.

I love it here! Ive been a student for only about 5 months yet I feel like I have only been here for less than one. Before coming here I debated a lot about whether it would be good enough, or bad. I wondered if I should of chosen another school and contemplated a lot since I was seriously nervous. All that worry for nothing! I love it here it is my second home. PLUS, Financial Aid ;)

This school is simply the best! My teachers are so supportive and take the extra time needed to make sure the class understands the course material. The program at EI teaches all facets of the makeup arts and you get to practice what you learn in real world settings through their externship program.I feel very confident upon graduation that i will have a great career!I would recommend this school to anyone!

SHAME!!!Altho, Im a graduate for this school.I regret enrolling to this school. I pull a lot of loans to cover the expense so I couldnt back up from my mistake of enrolling in EI. I am so disappointed with the education and their false advertising. The externship hrs that are meant to help practice its a waste of time and money(do them on your own). After graduation theres NO help there(no job fairs, no recommendation well, I forgot they send you craigslist jobs) Some, teacher are great and caring for you education but unfortunate, the tool(material) they are given half of the time didnt work as function. Lets talk about student kits, they are cheep(return policy sucks) and where not given on time of the designated class. I spend a lot of money besides the student kit because I cared about my so call education in the school. Do your research please. People ask me about the school and it a shame that I cant recommend. I hate the fact that Im talking down on the school I graduated on but TRUTH has to be told.

I love EI. Their makeup academy program is one of the most professional curriculums in LA. I took the chance to attend their 12 month program and have absolutely no regrets. Most every instructor is an experienced professional thats worked with major movie, advertising, or fashion firms... and is dedicated to teaching to the students that are pursuing this awesome business. In my opinion, Dawn Sorenson is definitely the best instructor here. The tuition may be a little up there... however in the end it is all worth it! Great makeup school, fantastic and informative classes.

People please do not come to this school i attended there last year of June 2015 and I did not complete the whole program I only needed 2 in a half months more to go which means I would of finish school this year of August. The school tells you all these things that you are going to be learning and a lot of it is false. I came to this school because I wanted to learn a lot about special effects. They do not teach you the advanced stuff everything is just basic which I was not told. And for the High Fashion course I was really excited cause I thought we were going to be learning all these advanced makeup looks and learning to work with lighting and stuff but the class turned out to be a disappointment. We were not taught on how to do extravagant makeup looks just basic beauty makeup. I would think since it was a high fashion class we were going to learn all these makeup looks but I was wrong. Also were not given demos on how to do the makeup looks we were just given a lecture packet talking about the makeup look so we had to figure it out ourselves or either look on google for images of the makeup. Also in the class we did not get to work on each other we had to practice on ourselves which was another disappointment how can you learn like that we are not the ones that going to be wearing this makeup. Also they did not teach us how to work with lighting again we were just given a lecture packet talking about lighting. The only thing I like about this school was some of my teachers which was Ms Walkins and Ms Corona and Mr Cumbie they were very nice and really helpful to me they helped me a lot when I was struggling in class and always answered all my questions..... Furthermore I would not recommend anyone to come to this school if you want to learn advanced beauty makeup go to a different school like Los Angeles Makeup school or Michael Vincent Academy those are really good schools. And for advanced special effects go to Cinema Makeup school they will teach you everything there. But again people please dont one come to this school there going to lie to you. Dont believe all the makeup images that you see on the school website majority of those makeup looks they would not teach you that. A lot of the makeup looks were done in Monsterpollza or in Comic Con. They only teach you that type of makeup only if you get chosen to participate in the event. And you would have to be graduate student to. I seriously wish I never came to this school it was a waste of my time and money. Now I am planning to attend a different makeup school so I could get the skills that I wanted. But beware of this school think about it really good before you come here. They just want your money......
