Ive been a student at the Los Angeles Art League for about two months now. From what Ive seen, the teachers are incredibly encouraging and they also make sure to point out areas that need improvement according to the students levels and aspirations.Ive taken their traditional Drawing classes in which weve worked with charcoal and pencil. I started with doing a free drawing of anything in the class. Back then, I had no idea of planning or composition. I can tell Ive gotten a lot better with more confident, clean lines and a better understanding of light and shadow.Ive also taken their Digital Art class in which Art Center alumni teach students how to draw on Photoshop and Illustrator. Some students are also actively preparing their entry portfolios to art schools with the guidance of the Digital Art teachers.The classes provide a ton of personal, honest, and encouraging feedback. For someone who is planning on eventually applying to art schools, the Los Angeles Art League is a great place to build a strong portfolio while honing fundamental art skills.
