I took the Intro to Home Sewing Machine class to check out Sew FYI and loved it! You leave the class with a piece that you learn to sew and the structure is very empowering. The class was about 8 people and felt very COVID safe. There is one instructor who is great! She walks around and provides guidance but also lets you be autonomous and learn as you go. I signed up for the Beginners Package so Im looking forward to taking more classes at Sew FYI!

Weve taken several classes at SewFYI (sewing workshops and fashion sketching) and are extremely satisfied. The instructors are very patient and professional. The facility to top-notch. This is a great place all levels, from beginner to professional.

What a fantastic space! There are so many different kinds of equipment and all the tools youll ever need to complete a project. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and if the classes are as thorough as the two-hour one-on-one I had, theyll be excellent. Im so glad I found this place!

I signed up for a 10 hour personal workshop session and had the pleasure of having Jenine instruct me on how to sew. I came in with no experience constructing garments and had a goal of being able to complete a garment from a purchased store pattern. We ended up completing two patterns thanks to her patience and ability to really simplify sewing garments. I would highly recommend anyone with no experience ask for Jenine as she really made this a beautiful experience and I am so happy I was able to get such a knowledgeable designer.

I’ve been taking sewing classes for a few months now at Sew FYI. I love it! I recently started doing some of my own projects at home thanks to the confidence and knowledge I’ve gotten at Sew FYI.And the teachers are really great. I’ve taken most of my classes with Matthew and he really takes the time to walk you through technique. Every time I learn a new skill (like making a button hole or pivoting at a corner) I immediately feel like I can go home and do it myself perfectly.I made this Dodgers bag by myself at home.

The Intro to Home Sewing and Intro to the Serger classes were excellent. I have some sewing experience but I still learn plenty of tips from the home sewing class. I’ve never used a serger before because I was intimidated. The serger class was great! I can even thread the machine with confidence. I can’t wait to go back for my next class.

If you’re a fashion enthusiast, or just looking to learn the process of sewing and designing, I cannot recommend Sew FYI enough. I recently moved into the area and found them based on a friends recommendation, and it has been nothing but a wonderful experience. Signing up for a membership is just as easy and streamlined as signing up for a gym membership. All the machines and tools are available for anyone to use as you can just come in and out as you please to work on whatever project. While I’m a little bit more advanced myself when it comes to using the machines and tools they also offer various classes to those who are looking to learn throughout the week. Anyone with zero knowledge of sewing and designing can learn here with teachers who are actively working in the fashion industry. The atmosphere is always pleasant, cozy, and most importantly CLEAN! All the members are very welcoming and clean up after themselves so you don’t have to worry about coming into a messy work space. Right now I’m currently in the process of designing my own fashion line, and this business has immensely helped that process more than I could have ever imagined! If you’re even somewhat thinking about joining or checking this place out, do it! You will not regret it, and it may even become apart of your daily/weekly routine.

Ive been taking private classes here for the last couple of weeks and its been such a wonderful experience. I didnt have any sewing or pattern making experience before enrolling so I was nervous but Ive learned SO much and I feel much more confident.

I took my first ever serger sewing class and loved it. The teacher was extremely patient and knew his stuff. The class also came with this pretty incredible view of the sunset!

I was gifted a sewing machine long time ago and haven’t used it once. I was hesitated to try virtual class but I took a chance. Allison is very knowledge and class went very smooth. By end of the class, I know how to operate the machine and feel confidence to make more masks. :) It was a great experience and went beyond my expectation. Highly recommend.

What a great place! I wish I live closer that I can do my sewing there every day! I went for a weekend-pass, absolutely enjoy sewing there. The machines and sewing tools are well equipped and maintained. Overall, the facilities and good vibe make me super productive. Love it!

I bought a package of 10 hours of lessons and I have really enjoyed all of my time spent here. I learned so much and had so much fun. Everyone I dealt with here was so kind and fun to be around and good teachers as well! I highly recommend Sew FYI and I would do it again if I still lived in Los Angeles!

This is is a great space with lots of resources and tools, and the instructors are amazing.. ! Ive worked with 3 different instructors during my private workshops and they were all knowledgeable. The one instructor that i spent most of time with was Katie. She is patient, passionate and makes you feel that she is there to help you accomplish your goals. So glad i found Sew FYI and that i worked with Katie :-)

Took a 2 hour introductory course with Matthew learning about industrial sewing machines, learned so much, had an phenomenal time, and couldnt have asked for a better instructor... so patient and passionate....Matt, so sorry I left the bobbin out of the machine, couldnt restring it and gave up... I need another class ! Hope to see you soon. Best beginners sewing classs in LA. Dont waste time elsewhere, you will not get the professional experience you will get here.

I took the Pattern Making Workshop today. It was a great class. The instructions were easy to follow and teacher is very knowledgeable. I love the studio is modern and trendy. Cant wait to come back for the sewing next week.

Love this place! A hidden gem in the downtown LA arts district. Wish I had found Sew FYI sooner.They are open 24/7 which works with my busy schedule, it allows me to go whenever I want. If you are the designer or like to make custom clothing the place has every machine you could ask for. The staff is super friendly and very helpful. I love the tunes they play, time flys when I am there. If you like making things, a designer developing their line, or someone who wants to learn how to sew, I highly suggest checking out Sew FYI. Sew Fyi is the total package for upcoming designers. If you want to work on your personal ideas or learn the basics they have it with a motivational team. Yena paired me with a great teacher and was courteous with scheduling me in the creative co-working space. I took a class on zipper installments and my teacher Jennie was able to refresh me in little under 2 hrs. I would say if you want to take your ideas from paper to real life. Its never been sew easy! The Sew FYI Studio is the all-inclusive studio that lets you easily create whatever you can dream up. They are very good and knowledgeable about their industry. The stuffs provide me the education of fashion sketch, design and sewing. It is the perfect way to learn new creative skills and get great end results.

I took the alterations workshop this past weekend and it was fantastic! I learned so much. Mathew was a patient and knowledgeable instructor. He spent a lot of time one on one with each of us addressing our individual questions. I highly recommend this program!

Recommended by my friend and I found this place with excitement. This place is cozy with a lot of modern sewing equipment to use. My first sample came out awesome and Sew FYI also connected me to a technical designer who provides me a lot of helps turning my design to actual sample. Highly recommended if you need to work on sewing projects in budget.

This place is great! Very knowledgeable instructors. Great classes, and it’s awesome how more experienced designers rent coworking space as their workshop because it’s inspiring for the beginners to see what they could eventually be making. Also very tidy and easy to find.

I learned so much more in short 2 hours versus many other places with many more hours. Yena taught me the technique and tricks that I never learn in other places. We signed up for their monthly studio use membership and have nothing but raves about this great place. They stock virtually any machine you could possibly need to work on your fashion piece. I love the fact to have access to the studio 24/7 as I can get carried away late at night working on something. During the workshops you get to mingle with similar people and have access to their experienced and always helpful staff. The owners take good care of their studio and their rapidly growing membership. I can highly recommend Sew FYI - what a fun place!

My wife and I are on vacation for 2 weeks and we found this amazing studio! We took their beginner class and learned how to sew. We made tote bags!!! I’ve never touched a machine before. We also learned that Sew FYI offer private workshop to teach you how to create your own designs. Now we hooked! We’ve spent most of our vacation time here. Such an amazing studio. Sewing is the best activity when you need to stay at home. I took the Virtual One-On-One with Allison. the class went very well. She was able to demo the technique and I can sew along. I was surprised how fast the time went by. Thank you Sew FYI for keeping me stay sane during this pandemic.

Lami was a good teacher. There were 3 of us in the class of different levels and she was very patient with all of us! We learned the basics of threading the machine and experimenting with different stitches. And we each made a tote! Definitely recommend for those wanting to learn how to start with a machine.

I took the pattern making class. I really learned a lot in just 2 hours. Although Ive been seeing for many years I never knew how to make a pattern. The process is a little counter-intuitive so I was glad I took a class. The space is nice and the people are friendly.

Lamia is great! She differentiated between 3 different students, different levels, including my 11 yr old daughter. She is professional, funny, pleasant, and very helpful when approached.
