Awesome gym for a newbie, im very sad that due to financial difficulties i had to end my membership for the time being (another plus is that they are understanding of cancellations, i was never pressured). Great atmosphere, experienced members were always willing to help, coach scott is that kind of ball busting coach we all had back in high school we all remember fondly.

Came to visit LA from Miami, and professor Scott was very responsive online when I contacted the school. I came by to visit and was surprised to see all the awesome Star Wars themed gear they have. Most of my training partners I think have been training for around a year but they were all amazing and their leg game is sick. Highly recommend if you want to improve your Jiu Jitsu game and get in shape.

Joined this gym unsure of what to expect. I was more than happy with what was found. This gym offers a clean facility with ample space for your gym bags and showers. Another plus is free packing in the lot, garage, or on the street. Best of all is the top level instruction and attention to detail by instructor, Scott Epstein. You will not be disappointed! For any women who may be hesistant, we have a strong group of female teammates of different levels who can help. You have nothing to lose be everything to gain.

The level of talent and instruction from Scott “Einstein” Epstein, Michael “Tips” Venturella, Johnny Ho, and Niko Radich is exceptional. It quickly became my new home, replacing my decades old relationship with “The Gym”. I’m sure most of the students can attest to this as well. You will get hella fit and in shape doing this craft, and on top of it you’ll be a deadly badass, if that’s what you’re into.If you’re thinking about starting/coming/joining, just commit and learn a submit. Call Scott, let him talk to you and evaluate what you’re trying to achieve. Don’t just do a class and think, “it’s challenging” and not come back; as with anything in life, learning is through repetition. Be prepared to be taken out of your comfort zone! It took me about a month (2 back to back classes on Tues, Thurs, Sat 2.5 hours) for it to click and start to make sense and for me not to be intimidated.

This place is great. Everyones very chill and the head instructor is super cool. Theyre open-minded about all techniques and the level of jiu jitsu is very high. Its a really relaxed environment and you will have a lot of fun while getting a crazy workout. They will push you to get out of your comfort zone but always in a positive way. Whether you just want something fun to do or you want to take your game to the next level, theres something for everyone here.

Theres a reason Scott was Chuck Lidells bjj coach on the Ultimate Fighter. His is very technical in all the techniques he teaches. The little details are very important in the 10th planet system and Scott makes sure to hammer those details in. Everyone is super cool and there are no egos. My first day, he told me that my gable grip was wrong, which i was doing for 2 years!. 10pl west LA also has wrestling other schools do not have

Scott and the rest of the team at 10pWLA are an awesome crew. Theyre friendly, even to uncoordinated new guys like me. The gym has a supportive vibe - we feel like teammates who are all helping each other get better, not like people who are trying to beat each other up. (Well, we are trying to beat each other up, but, you know, constructively.) The atmosphere is fun but definitely not unserious, and its full of solid, good people. The first place Id send anyone who wants to get into BJJ.

10th Planet West LA is just an incredible place. Every day when I wake up I look forward to going to class. 10th Planet West LA head instructor Scott Epsteins teaching style is very meticulous and detail oriented, so that even if you have no Jiu-Jitsu experience at all, you would have no trouble jumping into a class. Definitely the first place id send anybody who wanted to start Jiu-Jitsu/get in shape.

Details, details and more details. Thats what Scott Einstein Epstein preaches and delivers. I had no experience going inand was nervous about not being able to grasp the techniques and making a fool of myself. The way Scott breaks down techniques to the nanometer, made that impossible. I highly recommend 10th planet West LA to anyone who wants to try Jiu Jitsu and wants to get in shape. Scott not only has the knowledge to help you but the willingness as well.

I chose 10th Planet West Side over the other Jiu Jitsu gyms in my area because two things. Firstly, the people that go to this gym are humble, friendly, and very helpful. I have not seen anyone lose their temper or get mad at any other student. The other reason is because of the teaching. Scott (Einstein) Epstein is our head instructor. He is one of Eddie Bravo’s most technical black belts. He goes over the same technique for weeks at a time so new students have a chance to really get the hang of it. There are two other teachers, Michael (Tips) Venturella is our newest brown belt. His style of teaching is similar to Scott’s. They are both very technical. Lastly, Johnny Ho is one of our purple belts. He has been teaching the Saturday 3:00pm class. Once again, very technical and he definitely knows how to use his weight.

10th Planet West LA has been my home for over a year now. Scott Epstein, the head instructor is an accomplished Mixed Martial Artist and BJJ black belt competitor who has first-hand experience in the real-world application of the techniques he teaches. Scott is a no-nonsense, detail-oriented, and dedicated teacher, and is in the gym day in and day out, making sure that his students are picking up the technique properly. Also, if you have a penchant for ironic humor and sarcasm, youll do well here.I have made some really great friends at this gym, and the laid-back, friendly atmosphere is what keeps me coming back. Purple belt Assistant instructor Michael Tips Venturella compliments the advanced instruction very well with his fundamentals class. He is an extraordinarily patient teacher and does a great job at explaining the concepts behind each technique. If you want to learn self-defense, get in shape, and get a better understanding of the No-Gi ground-game, 10th Planet West LA is the best place to do that in this area. In a year, Ive gone from gasping for breath and being utterly lost-- to having a greater sense of confidence, competing in amateur grappling, and becoming part of a team with amazing friends and mentors.

Lets see.. I began my jiu jitsu journey here, it was the closest one to my house. I had a great experience from the beginning, but I thought: what do I know? I have to try a few other places to get a feel for what I like in a school. So I moved on to a few other schools, and after several months realized that the techniques remembered best were the ones I learned with Scott at 10th planet west la. So very recently I returned and resumed training there intermittently as an add-on to my regular training. If you are looking into training jiu jitsu in LA, lucky you, the city you live in is jiu jitsu mecca and there are many options - but do yourself a favor and put 10th planet west LA at or near the top of your list.I heard the internet likes bullet points, here are some bullet points:pros- detailed training, lots of repetition so things get committed to muscle memory- classes are long enough that theres plenty of time for drilling and sparring. (Almost all other schools have 1 hour for both which ends up in a situation where you rush through drilling and rush through sparring.)- great community, great atmosphere, great variety of training partners- Ive only been here a short time but it is pretty clear to me that Scott is invested in his students development- clean gym, plenty of parkingcons- none?- there is a little dog that hangs out on the couch by the mats and snores like a large human

Scott Epstein is one of the premier instructors of the 10th Planet System who has trained directly under Eddie Bravo. At his gym 10th Planet West LA you will have access to a clean & well maintained facility with showers and multiple classes a week that range from beginner to advanced competitor. I personally started jiu jitsu with no mat experience at 265 pounds. In 1 years time I have lost over 80 pounds while training with Scott and am now participating regularly in State wide competitions across California.Come to West LA, we have a great community, a relaxed training environment and an awesome facility. You will make friends, gain confidence, tone your body like youve never imagined (with hard work, no gains from being lazy), and enter a lifestyle that will make you wish you found jiu jitsu years ago.

Scotts attention to detail is world renowned. His knowledge of not only jiu jitsu and MMA, but nutrition and strength conditioning is insurmountable. UFC fighters to movie stars all seek out Scotts methods of training. The proof is in his students on any given weekend youll find them at jiu hitsu tournaments submitting opponents and bringing home medals. You will NOT find a better, cleaner place to train in West LA. Give his classes a try. It WILL change your life!

Scott has changed my life with his teaching. No joke. I started army combatives (while in the army) back in 2006, kind of liked it but knew it was not getting me anywhere. ried GI jiu jitsu back in 2010 and had a similiar experience. I was getting good but never staying consistent with technique. Scott changed everything I thought I knew about jiu jitsu last year when I came to10th planet west la. His approach, style, and coaching have brought my competitive edge back and made me addicted to jiu jitsu again.

I started training at 10th Planet West LA about a month ago. To make a long story short, I make the commute from Long Beach to West LA three times a week to get quality no-gi jiu jitsu training, quality self-defense training, and quality strength and conditioning training. There is no comparison to 10th Planet, its quality and top of the line. I started to train because I want to be able to defend myself, my family, and my loved ones in case anything were to ever go down. 10th Planet blesses me with the tools to feel confident if any dangerous scenarios were to arise.Since I started training: my outlook on life has changed, my passion for jiu jitsu has grown, my technique has improved, I have gotten stronger, lost weight, and I feel as if I have a jiu jitsu family. The instructors are friendly, it is a serious but also very welcoming and friendly environment. If you are looking to get in shape, get strong mentally/physically, be dedicated, and grow into a fun and loving jiu jitsu community/family then absolutely come check out the gym.
