I joined a little over a year ago when this location was still Club One and stuck around while they worked out the new membership kinks and rearranged the new equipment. I liked the gym a lot when it was Club One, but I like what Fitness has done even more. The gyms in a great spot, there are always plenty of friendly and helpful staff members and trainers, and except for a few peak hours the gym is never too crowded.

A great place to train martial arts, not only for the casual practitioner, but also for the more advanced martial artist. This gym has a very inviting and friendly atmosphere, however when it is time to work, it is time to work! The coaches and professors are very experienced and can help you improve your skills in combat. In addition to being excellent at critiquing your technique and overall form, the coaches offer great advise on how you can get where you want to go in your martial arts journey.

PKG has become like a second home to me. All the instructors are extremely welcoming and friendly. Being here has not only made me a better martial artist, but I value the relationships and friendships that I have made here. I could not imagine my life without PKG and highly recommend it to anyone who wants to learn martial arts or just make true, genuine friends.

I recently moved to CA from Boston and was looking for a new gym close to my home - enter Fitness SF. Convenience is a big factor for me, and I found that Fitness CA actually had several locations close to both my home and my office.

Amazing Martial Arts Academy on the Westside. The instructors take their time teaching the class. Which is a big plus because they cover small details that will make a difference on a persons technique. This place is fun, welcoming, and great environment for anyone that is interested in learning kickboxing and or jiu jitsu.

PKG is an awesome place to train. I originally came in looking to get into better shape and supplement my already existing workout routine as I was getting bored of my workouts at the gym. What I found here was far better than anything a gym has to offer. This is truly a martial arts academy/dojo and the quality of training is reflected in the caliber of coaches that work here along with the people that train here. I have found this place to have and be welcoming to a wide range of people of varying skill levels, with people just looking for ways to stay in shape to people really looking to learn the martial arts and participate in fights/competitions. When I changed my mentality about training as a way to stay in shape to a way to truly learn new skills, I started to really see how amazing the curriculum at PKG is (not to mention that my fitness level increased as a byproduct). The Bang Muay Thai program is great for striking, and the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu program has many experienced instructors as well as more advanced students who are happy and patient enough to show new students a thing or two. Both of these programs transition well into each other at higher levels of training. One of the most underrated aspects of this place is also the sense of community and family that I have found here with many like minded individuals. The facility is in a good location, has new mats, and good equipment (I.e. heavy bags, Thai pads, focus mitts, jump ropes, kettlebells, etc). I always look forward to training and seeing my friends here and I am very glad that I found this gem.

I went here for a consultation. Jonathan, the receptionist I believe, asked me so many questions. The same questions he had already asked me over the phone as well as the paperwork I filled out. He laughed at me when I came in the door?? Over the phone when I called about Muay Thai for physical fitness, he originally told me I would have a free workout with one of the trainers. He then called back and tried to charge me $30?? When I was there he asked me 5 times if I worked in the area after I already told him I worked in Anaheim?? He asked me 3 different times “what brings you in today?” As if I hadn’t already told him over the phone and on the paperwork he had me fill out! He was unprofessional an didn’t pay attention to any of the answers I gave him. I ended up leaving without my workout consultation! I felt like I was being interrogated! Where do you live? Where do you work? What are you doing here today? Where did you here about us?? Why did you come here? Like are you serious? You asked me this over the phone!!

PKG is a great place to lean Martial arts in Los Angeles. They offer Jiu Jitsu, Boxing, Kick Boxing and Muay Thai for all levels and ages. All the students and instructors are very welcoming and go out of their way to make new students feel comfortable. The gym also offers many social events outside of training (group hikes, wine tasting, bike rides, holiday parties, etc). If you are looking to learn top notch self defense, get in shape, and meet great people, PKG Training Center is the place to go.

Ive made some great friends and all of the instructors are like family. All of the programs here are solid and you will learn a great deal of technique and skill. PKG:I have been taking boxing lessons at PKG for about a year and muay thai lessons for about 8 months. I use to lift weights and run at a typical gym, but I was getting bored and was looking for something new. Like many others at first I was very much intimated, but the staff was welcoming and has become even nicer as my membership continued. Besides beginners, they also have a pro fight team for pro fighters who are looking for a good group for training. Most if not all of the instructors teaching the boxing/Muay Thai were at one time or currently professional MMA fighters. The staff really values the input of its members and tries to create a “PKG family” type atmosphere. I have not taken any MMA or BJJ lessons, but those are offered at PKG as well. An up to date lesson schedule is posted on their website if you want to see how often they have lessons.Boxing:The boxing lessons are a great way to get in shape and learn the foundations of boxing (movement, defense, striking). Classes usually start with movement and shadow boxing drills, pad and/or bag work, then conditioning. My goal isn’t to lose weight, but the lessons are very tiring and get you in great shape. The boxing classes’ size varies, but the afternoon lessons can get up to 25+ people. The morning and lunch classes are less popular. As membership increases, new classes are added in attempt to limit class sizes. PKG will hopefully continue doing this in the future. Soon the gym is starting an invitation only combat athlete program (CAP) for those boxers who have been a member for a long time and advance from novice to competent in skill level. The CAP are for those whose aim is to try an amateur boxing match.Muay Thai:Like boxing, the Muay Thai classes are taught with an MMA foundation, not a traditional thai kickboxing foundation. Emphases is placed on punches as much as kicks (traditional Muay Thai is kick dominate) and movement is highlighted (as compared to the exchange of body blows in some Muay Thai camps). With that said, this doesn’t mean you cannot learn over time how to fight in Muay Thai matches. In fact, several partners I do light sparing with in class have fought in amateur Muay Thai events. This class would be also great for those beginning in MMA to practice leg, knee, elbow, and fist striking.PKG doesn’t really emphases any internal martial arts elements (such as meditation, philosophy, etc.). If you are looking for those, try an eastern martial arts academy, not a MMA gym. Overall I am happy with my training at PKG and would recommend it to anyone who wants a fun and safe atmosphere to get in shape, learn about martial arts, or train for their next fight.
