I stumbled upon this Yoga Tai Chi class with Master John in LA (I am in NC) because my sister who lives in LA is active with the library programming for children. The moderator and Master John are both lovely and helpful; please note this is currently taught over Zoom. The 90 minute class is unlike any routine I have practiced in Yoga or Pilates/Yoga or even Yin Yoga. I recognize some movements from Tai Chi (though I have not formally practiced Tai Chi). It is great for all ages (the kids jump in some times, age 8 & 5). I want to deduct a half star because it is 90 minutes and because sometimes there are audio *volume* issues. But, the truth is the class and instructor deserve high praise and 5 stars. This is a special resource to practice with a good and knowledgeable instructor, remotely. I truly enjoy this community and it only adds positivity and health benefits to my life.

John, our Yoga master is an outstanding teacher. Teaching us how to focus on and exercise every part of our bodies, and explaining how each movement benefits us, takes a lot of dedication and expertise. I didnt know that yoga could be so gentle, and so beneficial for my tired bones at retirement.. Johns calming and gentle voice contributes greatly to us getting a great amount of flexibility that we didnt know we could achieve. Ive made several attempts to learn yoga while I was working,, but never achieved any progress. I didnt know at retirement I would find the perfect teacher, and I will be forever grateful to him. I am especially thankful to LAPL for offering this class, to Debra Mathews, for coordinating, and to Body & Brain Wilshire center that John has introduced us to.

I live off the coast of Puerto Rico on a small island. We have no yoga Center here. It is a true gift to be able to participate in the online yoga class with Master John. He is a patient gifted teacher with a giving caring heart. I am so grateful for what I am being taught. I am therefore becoming more aware of the relationship between my body and my mind. We’d like to thank the “Body and Brain Yoga Tai Chi Wilshire Center in collaboration with the Los Angeles Memorial Library branch” for their community outreach class offered online.—We have been blessed with Master John’s Yoga Meditation and Tai Chi class. He is an excellent teacher. He engages with class constantly checking on the students’ well being during class, and is very thorough in his explanations of the exercises and meditation. He is also very generous with his time before and after class. He carefully listens to students and thoughtfully answers students’s questions. This class helps us with our spine and joints’ issues as well as with body balance. Personally we feel this class is good for our health: It strengthens our lungs; improves our stamina; improves our circulation; and benefits our inmune system. Thank you for this class!

For the last 20 years, Body and Brain Yoga Tai Chi Wilshire Center has been instrumental in helping me not only maintain, but improve my body condition. In addition, this practice has enabled me to deal with the aches and pains of an aging body. Also, through this practice, I have been able to internalize the concept of unity of body, mind and spirit. This has helped me to achieve a greater level of mindfulness and peace.The masters at the center have many years of experience, are extremely knowledgeable and wise. They are people-oriented; they make everyone feel welcome and provide individualized guidance by prescribing specific routines for members to maintain optimum body and mind condition.On account of the pandemic, the center is not offering in-person classes. Instead, classes are offered online through Zoom. They emphasize the same principles and are very professionally done.Whether you are interested in maintaining or improving your body/mind condition or being referred to special workshops to cope with stress, anxiety, eating disorders or other concerns, I strongly recommend Body and Brain Yoga Tai Chi Wilshire.

Yoga meditation class offered by Master John has been the right medicine I needed to my mind, body and spirit. It has benefited my stage of health through stretching exercises & learning significant parts of my body that were ignored by me, most important the way I breathe. It has benefited my mindset by seeing things through different eyes. ..by concentrating in the here and now and by reassuring that both body and mind work together harmoniously to improve the quality of health. It has benefited my spirit by taking the class with a community that has the same interests like mine and by feeling that I am not alone in this path. ..this has elevated my spirit and soul. At last but not least, I want to thank Master John for his willingness and dedication to us in offering this class as part of the community outreach by Body & Brain at the Los Angeles Public Library & at no cost. I attend the LAPL Yoga Meditation class on Mondays and Fridays AM conducted by Master John. He is a dedicated, gently, demanding, and punctual instructor. He patiently explains what we will be doing and what are the benefit of those exercises. Mater John incorporates different routines to make the class interesting. I have learned a lot from the class and it has benefited my body and mind. I also want to recognize the technical assistance provide by the Library Staff. I have recently started attending the yoga and meditation class that The Body & Brain Yoga Thai Chi- Wilshire Center in partnership with Los Angeles Memorial Library is offering via zoom. The classes are already helping me with some health issues I have been dealing with for several years. After just few classes I feel some improvement in flexibility, back pain and sleeping patterns.I want to thank Master John, our caring and supportive instructor. He is always reminding us to focus in our body and mind and to not let our mind wander around while doing the yoga and meditation exercises, so we can get the most of them.I have always wanted to try yoga, but was afraid it would be too hard for me due to my health problems. However, John keeps reminding us to listen to our body, to do what we can; and at the same time he encourages us to go a little bit outside our comfort zone, so I am trying:)Thanks a lot for the class!!

I am so grateful that Body and Brain Yoga Tai Chi Wilshire is offering classes online during this pandemic. I’ve benefited from this practice enormously. Master John is great. This is a Korean yoga with breathing meditation. It is great to release my stress and helps to improve my health issues including my old back pain.

I had been regularly participating in the sessions offered by Master John through Memorial Library since January 2018.I would say it was my best decision I made. I visited many joints & muscles that I had not visited for a long while after the first session. As time went by I noticed that many aches and pains disappeared. Then I noticed I’m more aware of my food intakes and my moods. It especially helped me during the pandemic with healthy body & brain to cope with many challenges.

I have been taking Master Johns class at the Memorial Branch Library for over a year. He has a kind approach, and his low impact class is just what I need to feel balanced and restored. Emphasis is on movement for energy flow, stretching, and mindfulness. I highly recommend Master John.

From my experience in practicing sports in a physical education college, I benefited a lot from my experience with this new type for me from Korean sports as it includes the bodys contact with the mind with the soul while practicing sports movements and I liked the culture of the Korean people in focusing on health, peace and smile. Ive been doing Dahn Yoga for a little over a year now and in my opinion, they are some of the nicest people youll ever meet. This is not traditional eastern style yoga. Some of the things they do may seem too simple to be doing anything. Others are quite taxing. But the exercises have been designed to stimulate your meridians. Every class is different, although some exercises are done more regularly. Theres a lot more to Dahn Yoga than meets the eye initially. As crazy as it sounds, that’s their goal…To create a better humanity and to protect the earth. I’m a real skeptic. It took me over a year of practice to “get it” and to believe that they were really sincere, but I now do. It isn’t cheap, that’s for sure, but once you’ve become involved, there are a number of completely free classes that they have which actually make the cost a lot more reasonable, if you take advantage of them. Last night we had a wonderful class called Family Healing night, and it was great. We did some warm up exercises and then they showed us how to do some healing techniques so that we can help others. Overall, it was a great experience…and free. Dahn Yoga has helped me get stronger, feel healthier, has made me more flexible and given me more peace than I had 15 months ago. All in all, if this is something that sounds interesting to you, I think you should try it out, and be prepared to expand your mind.

Love it!Not only do I get a workout that makes me strong physically but also spiritually. I come away feeling relaxed and vibrating with energy. Masters make you feel welcomed and provide an environment of respect and fun that makes attending classes a pleasure. Every month they change the programs that we can enjoy the classes and challenge ourselves for development.My flexibility and strength have improved considerably. The biggest bonus for me is that I am developing spiritually and feeling so good about myself and I am feeling more focused on being better all around!I highly recommend Dahn Yoga on wilshire.Master Kim and Wang are so sweeet :D

I do this almost every 5days a week. Since I do this exercise , my back pain and neck pain was very much relaxed and very calmed. Also I could sleep better. I like this yoga and tachi.

Last year was not a good year for me I lost my sister to Cancer and took in my 87 year old mom that has dementia. Not only that but I have 4 kids ages of 23, 17, 7 and 3. So I really have a lot on my plate where I was starting to feel very overwhelmed. My coworker told me about The Solar Body book the secret to natural healing. I also started attending classes at Body & Brain in Burbank Fatima. When I attended the classes I did not know what to expect at the time my sciatica kicked in and I was feeling horrible. It was like Fatima held my hand through the classes and I felt so much better very relaxed and not stressed. She then introduced me to Hwangchil Tea because I explained to her that my liver was acting up the doctor told me that I have fatty tissue around my liver and that needed to see a specialist. She has also showed me stomach excersises to move my organs around. The first week of drinking the tea I did not feel the pain that I was feeling, this tea not only made my liver feel better but it has made me feel better all through my body. I love Hwangchil Tea!
