Very poor program amd I agree with the others its a far left school that essentially hates and professor (some) insult conservatives. Teaches you victim mentality and mire identity politics. No free speech. And only offer 2/8 classes listed on their catalog all with left wing politics intertwined. Good luck graduating.

I just went here and got my J&J vaccine. It was easy and in and out basically while still following the protocol. Everyone was nice and helpful. Ideal if anything pertaining to this can be called ideal. Im thankful for those working this sight trying to help as many as they can be o.k. It has been some year and change now, I imagine that most of us are in a version of shell shock from this all and all forever different in our own ways. I just cant wait to hug somebody! I hope that most of us are looking forward to something like that, it means that there is still hope for us if we all have a similar desire...at least in my mind. And I am now a step closer to being able to get those hugs!!!

After transferring from ELAC I did almost 3 years at CSULA and I got my Bachelor of Science. I got help whenever I needed from faculty, financial aid and other resources inside the campus. I was able to met great friends and professors too. There is always activities to do inside the campus, every semester they do orientations for new students, often you get emails regarding anything related to our education and campus. I really had a great time when I was student here and now Im planning to come back to get my Masters degree.

To be honest at first I did not like the school, it seemed like a leftover school when I got accepted. But boy can things change! I absolutely LOVE it here! Parts of the campus are gorgeous and the people here are awesome if you learn to break out of your shell. The engineering department is top notch for those who take it seriously. I have met and made some of my best friends here now who all share the same common interests as I do and are striving for similar goals. The people I have come to know at this school are brilliant and smart. Now this school isnt perfect but a lot of things in this life arent. Some of the people can be immature at times but its a part of growing up. Im proud to call CSULA home, the place that gave me a chance and believed in me. The one who was there for me at 3 am while I was studying. If you are going here or plan on going here seriously look into it and do not just pass it up because of what you have heard/read. Come and see for yourself!

I was a student here for 3 years and graduated in June. The campus sits in an interesting area- not the safest but full of history, culture, and great food. This campus is a commuter campus, so people get in, get out and on with their lives.Your experience with your classes and professors will highly vary upon your major.I think this school has a ton of potential, especially with the new president and his wife. I love that there is becoming more awareness for mental health services and a focus on making the campus healthier.

Worst school I had ever attended, most of their employees working in the various departments dont know anything they will just refer you to another department for help when you seek help from them. So much bureaucracy you need to deal with to get simple task resolved. But one thing they are good at is milking money from students, most of the classes you take here are colossal waste of time

I can see from a few reviews the alt-right (polite term for racist uneducated losers) trolls are out in force as part of their war on public education. The very best of society are sure to suffer the wrath from the very worst, so this speaks well of Cal State LA. Granting opportunity and enlightenment to those unjustly denied this historically is one of humanitys most virtuous achievements. Cal State LA rises to this calling!

I am an older student ( 56 ) and I attended this school many years ago as well. Ive returned to earn my Masters degree and my experience here has been great. My Social Sciences academic advisor is great, the administrative personnel ( Best of all Loans and Collections) has been great and the new faculty is very diverse and great educators. Ive taken a variety of different subjects from all the schools on campus and they were all great. With the exception of a nasty female, Australian instructor they used to have in the Psych department some years ago, all faculty has been awesome. The only big issue as far as appearances I think the school can loose major points on is the eye sore the Physical Sciences building has become. they need to demolish it quick. King Hall has been neglected and is dirty, chairs are uncomfortable and small and they need to give the sidewalks a nice hose down. Dolcinis café was shot down and we wait for a replacement. The jury still out on the new president and I would have preferred if they had appointed a Mexican American president out of respect for the student body and the surrounding community. Other than that I drive past Cal State Long Beach and Dominguez Hills to get to this school. I love it. The on campus Starbucks sucks big time with long lines after some genius decided to shot down the competition on campus.

A stinky campus that does not empower political freedom or free thought. Funds are in no way placed to better the campus buildings or expand their crippling programs. Be aware that they admit everyone simply for the money and wont lift a finger to escort you around campus during orientation. Not to mention they dont send out acceptance letters, just a measly email. You get what you pay for and although they may have the cheapest tuition costs they also dont care to better the campus or expand on parking. Oh! And be aware they give out tickets without posted signs in warning that you have to have a daily permit. Thats right, if you have a student parking permit it does not work for certain parking lots and they have no posted signs in the entrance! The campus acts as if they care about their financially struggling students but they dont. Theyll screw you any way possible. Cant wait to never have to come back to this stinky campus.

There is no doubt as to why Cal State LA has the lowest prestige ever. This is my first semester here and I can say that its been nothing but a major disappointment. Im currently taking a course with one music technology professor who instructs while under the influence, and with a beginning piano instructor who has the worst attitude ever, always scolding at her students and belittling their intelligence when she herself is NEVER has her materials or is prepared for the course. In addition, all practice rooms are CLOSED on the weekend and crowded during the week, making it extremely difficult to even practice. I sent an e-mail to the department chair addressing these issues, but he never replied back. It just showed me that the entire department could care less about their students concern.Aside from the faculty, the students are another disappointment. Most of them are ignorant and rude, and half of them seem to attend class while under the influence. I have yet to meet someone who truly cares about their education and who strive for success. Most are only concern about being the cool student and to work as little as possible. Now it explains why the faculty here act the way they do.There is no real student cafeteria, there are only outside fast food chain restaurants that serve as our nutritional intake. Some include Carls Jr., Pollo Loco, and Juice it Up. Like I said, there is no REAL cafeteria. The books in the library are outdated. Most of their texts have been published around the late 90s or before. The financial aid office is another HUGE problem. Just describing their flaws is another poor review on its own. I had to bring an independent financial aid representative just so that they could clear my documentation, which should have been done before the semester even began.DO NOT ATTEND THIS UNIVERSITY IF YOU ARE A SERIOUS HARD WORKING STUDENT! YOU WILL NOT GET THE SERVICES, SERVICES, OR NETWORKING THAT YOUR TUITION IS PAYING FOR. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

Get App is horrible, the GET system is archaic, parking is horrible, public transportation is OK if you are coming from West or East. There is a huge lack of food options on campus, especially healthy ones. Administrative policies, processes, procedures are asinine and archaic. Trying to return a parking pass the same day my class started was the last day you could return them... O_o. If you are a working adult it is almost impossible to get anything done before 5 as almost all offices close, financial aid, parking, registrars office. Professors are just OK, really nice ones and some that are just plain bad. This places feels more like a community college in regards to professors and quality of campus, and Ive been to a community college. BUT its cheap so I will stick with it.

This is a great school. I attended Cal State LA for a graduate degree. I earned a masters degree in sociology in December, 2011. The curriculum is rigorous, academic standards are high, and the dedication of the faculty, particularly the faculty of the sociology department is outstanding. I was satisfied with the overall general atmosphere of the university. The university offers a first class education with a variety of resources made available to students. This is one the most diverse universities in the California State University system. The professors teaching at the university are experts in their fields. And if you make note, most of the professors teaching at Cal State LA have attended a variety of prestigious universities such as UC Berkeley, Harvard University, University of Virginia, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Brown University, UCLA, and University of Michigan and among others. For verification of this, review the catalog of the university which will show the degrees held by the faculty and the universities where their respective degrees were attained. The bottom line is that if you want a great education at an affordable price you cant go wrong with Cal State LA. Cal State LA will offer an education comparable to those of the more widely known public and private universities. Remember, that ultimately it is the students responsibility for his or her own education and in the end it really doesnt matter what school you attended for your college degree. Cal State LA has produced students with their bachelors degrees who have been accepted to prestigious universities for graduate studies and many who enter the workforce are professionals in their chosen fields. Cal State LA is accredited by the same regional accrediting organizations that accredit UCLA and Stanford just to bear in mind.If you are pursuing a masters degree, Cal State LA offers many programs. Typically, for the culminating experience a students select comprehensive examination or write the thesis. Both are rigorous and the choice depends on the student. For the sociology MA degree, the department offers a thesis and a comprehensive examination. One should do a thesis if time permits and wishes to continue on for a Ph.D. A comprehensive exam, is best suitable for those seeking a terminal masters degree. I elected the comprehensive exam due to having no interest in doing doctoral studies and because I needed to establish a career and have income. Three exams are given testing the MA candidate in sociological theory, statistics/research methodology, and an elective. My elective was sociology of deviance and crime. The exams are spread over a week. Usually by the end of the term. The exams are proctored taken in class and they are each 5 hours long. Keep in mind that a thesis and comps involve a lot independent study and the student is held responsible for mastering the material and the field. Not very many students pass comps or complete the thesis. Study HARD for the coveted MA degree in sociology.

Theres just too much to complain about when it comes to their commodities. I was a business major and here were my highlighted experiences. This place has no parking, outsources about 80% of their core class professors to part timers and tries to wrap it up under a nice IT system that goes out about one day a week. These poor professors have to deal with constant reconstruction of the only means of communication to their students and it reflects by how we see professors juggle on the computer and even ask the students for help navigating through the system. Even East Los Angeles Community College can hold a more professional IT system than here. I think they are doing sudden changes and barely moving which is confusing a lot of people who come in rather than find a solution and stick to it. I was there for 5 years and wouldnt bother walking at the school for graduation. I wouldnt recommend this school at all well at least not for now this place doesnt deserve the impact of students it gets with the treatment they give.

CSULA is a decent campus, it is convenient, has some great professors and offers some very interesting courses. However, the school needs to work on upgrading the library, wireless access and Internet Security. Some major points I have experienced:*Identity theft issues.*The learning structure is very group orientated.and*I have also had the unfortunate experience of taking a class that I did not need due to bad counseling. What is more disheartening is that many of my fellow students have said they experienced the same thing, typically right when they were ready to graduate. The school needs some work, but it is a decent option for working students who need the education but may not have the time for the full college experience. One more major point is that the cafeteria needs a severe overhaul. Carls Jr., El Pollo Loco and Panda Express should never be available on a school campus. There are very few vendors and it seems like more than half of them are just junk. You sit in a class all day and hear and talk about health then see junk food everywhere. I had to bring food and use the microwaves. To me this was very disrespectful of the school and I felt like it summed up its general care about the students. On a good note the Luckman has some amazing artists that perform here.
