Bourbon Tango is so much fun!!! I took 4 bachata classes over a course of 1.5 weeks for my trip to Dominican Republic & when I got to the DR to dance with my Dominican boyfriend, he was so convinced I had been learning from another Dominican man. The instruction is great. It’s easy to follow & they use music that you like. They’re also patient & don’t judge you for your mistakes. I highly recommend!!! I will definitely be returning for salsa classes!!!

Perfect for anyone who wants to learn how to connect with your partner and just relax while dancing. They created a perfect environment. We can’t wait to go again!

Clay Marshall and Cherie Lanier, owners of Bourbon Tango, are kind, patient and very talented dance instructors and they provide a warm and welcoming environment for their dancers. They also are very supportive of live tango music and have had our band, Tango D’Ville, play a number of times at the milongas they host regularly at their studio. The opportunity to dance to live tango music is rare and it’s just one more reason why we think Bourbon Tango Studio is so very special. I had always wanted to take tango lessons after seeing the dance scene in the movie Scent of Woman. A friend of mine introduced me to the Bourbon Tango instructors Cherie Lenier and Clay Marshall and I took my first tango lesson in July of 2018. I discovered a place where people of all skill levels are welcomed. We all have to start somewhere! Not only were the instructors knowledgeable and experienced but the other students were also helpful and encouraging. Remember that we all started out as beginners!Some 18 months later, we have moved to a new location on Bardstown Road and while staying with Tango, Ive branched out into other Latin dances like Salsa and Bachata. This was easy to do since we have we have group classes for each of these dances (and some others too) almost every week night. You can also schedule private lessons with either Cherie or Clay to get the finer points of technique or just to dance more.Bourbon Tango also regularly holds events so that we can dance with other people and learn the etiquette of Latin social dances.Its been a lot of fun! And in this age of constant digital distraction, its great to find an activity and a place that puts a premium on people actually interacting with one another.So if you ever had any interest in learning to dance at all dont hesitate to take that first step at Bourbon Tango. Literally!

I’ve struggled for years to find a warm and welcoming dance community, but Bourbon Tango is it. They host classes four nights a week in the major styles of social dance, regular socials and events, and amazing workshops. It’s beginner-friendly and affordable, and you will learn and progress. But the really remarkable thing — the they couldn’t advertise — is how much it feels like home when you walk into the studio. At the end of a bad day you get a chance to reconnect with yourself and other people, and at the end of a good day there’s a whole room of people waiting to celebrate with you. It’s a place that’s safe to make mistakes and try again. You just have to show up!

Ive been taking dance classes with Bourbon Tango for a couple years now. They are more than great teachers; theyve created a community of supportive dancers at all levels. And classes are always fun! I look forward to Bourbon Tango time every week.
