Great selection, fair prices, and friendly staff. I bought a cheap electric guitar from them and paid $25 to have their guitar tech do a setup. They did a fantastic job and it plays great now.

Great place to get your music gear and take lessons. I have been shopping with Moms Music for 30+ years. In both of their locations. There is a reason for that. They are great at what they do and they have an awesome teaching department. Marvin, Beverly, and all of the folks that work there are very knowledgeable. I will continue to shop there when I have a musical need. They ROCK!On a side note: I get tired of seeing small businesses get stepped on in these reviews because they didnt kiss you butt when you came in. If you dont respect a place then dont expect any in return.You honestly cant give a TRUE review by stopping in a place ONE TIME. Get over yourselves.

Purchased a silver HSH Fender Player Stratocaster which was super difficult to get at this time, as Covid has caused a major backlog with manufacturing supply chains. Guitar was for a birthday gift and super important. Howard helped me out tremendously with this and John the shipping manager did an excellent job shipping the instrument to me as it arrived in perfect condition without any delays or problems. I totally recommended Moms Music for excellent service, quality of instruments and prices.

Katie is super patient and a great teacher - I feel so much more confident after leaving our sessions. Plus, the staff at Mom’s music has always been super kind of helpful. Customer service can be improved. I visited Moms world today, 7/13/2019 at around 12:20PM and Tommy was the front desk person. I inquired about piano lessons and I stated my goals clearly. Obviously, he did not listen to my piano goals because I had to say my goals again and my point was if it lessons can be customized. I was not finished yet with my inquiries and he went back to what he was doing. I asked his name because I was getting uncomfortable and his response was the piano teachers name (a feminine name). Talk about active listening. I hope its not because I dont look like your typical American and/or my accent. Please be nice and attentive to all your customers. -Nico R

Marvin at Moms has been great. I teach at IUS and he put together a sound system for the recital hall that was perfect for what we wanted at a very reasonable price.

Absolutely my favorite music shop in Louisville. I’ve spent more than half a decade going to this place for everything from instrument purchases, repairs, (their technician John is very reliable, and relatively quick with guitar setups, repairs, and upgrades with electronics and wiring, as well as pricing being very fair in my experience) and lessons. Their teachers are great, professional and patient with a lot of knowledge making learning instruments rewarding and engaging for students, whether for kids or for adults. This place taught me how to jam and write music, skills that have enriched my life and led to many friendships with other musicians.I really can’t say enough about this place, I highly recommend their business and services.

Came here for lessons about ten years ago and came back last week. Was greeted by super friendly employees who make you feel welcome. I played a marshall dsl20 with the mx212 cab and really liked it. I bought it after i left that day and had it shipped to my home state of florida. Shipped tuesday and arrived thursday. Moms music answered every question i had for them. They even mentioned ‘latest we’ll ship it is tuesday’ and they were true to their word. Great head and cab. Will definitely be back to support Mom’s when im back in town.

Sold a B-stock, refurbished mandolin with a collapsing top to an inexperienced customer for greater than what it would have cost brand new with a full warranty. Buyer beware -- they often try to sell refurbished, B-stock instruments at Moms for greater than the price of a new, A-stock instrument. Honesty and integrity is something I expect from any locally-owned retail music store -- otherwise why not buy from a faceless online retailer that offers bottom basement prices (and bottom basement customer service)?As a well known local musician, theyve lost my business for good.

This is a really great place to take guitar lessons, Ive been taking guitar lessons there for about 2 years and its great. Ive also been doing the rock school and its so fun!! You meet new people and explore new techniques on the guitar you didnt know about.

Great in-store experience looking over the drums, although while the salesman played them, he wouldnt let me. I had every intention of buying a Ludwig kit, but he changed my mind and now I am open to a Yamaha. Well, I was. I was told to call back on Monday (I visited last Saturday). I called yesterday and today (Tues.) twice each day in the middle of the day. No option to leave a message, no explanation as to why they werent able to answer the phone. I emailed the salesman (young guy, longish hair), no response. End of story. I will be buying at Forks Drum Closet in Nashville. Sorry, Moms.UPDATE: Came back, bought the Yamaha kit, cymbals, and a Yamaha mixer. Owner was personally involved. Raised from 3 to 4 stars.

Ive always had a great experience at this store and would highly recommend them. The staff is very knowledgeable and honestly if I were to be called Hun like one of the other reviewers, I wouldnt get my panties in a bunch. That reviewer seems to go on many sites to complain and give one star reviews. So, beware of her comments as they are not relative to how great this store is. Yeah there are days when they are slammed busy, but wouldnt you want to be somewhere that is busy instead of dead? I know I would. You should definitely shop at Moms Music, they rock.

I arrived for a noon violin lesson and the salesperson, Howard, working the counter kept calling me Hun. Excuse me? You have no right to call me pet names. Then the instructor informs me that they have double booked my appt and he cant see me. What rude, disgusting people. I will not go back.
