Brown is a transformational place. It teaches you much more than academics. I left with a greater understanding of how to treat others, a better knowledge of myself, and a drive to make a difference. Truly an incredible institution.

Brown is, for the most part, a great school with even greater potential. It is a very accepting, family-like environment. My high school child has been going to Brown since elementary, and we have witnessed great changes in the school over the years... HOWEVER, I believe that the school severely, severely overworks its high schoolers. My child is wise and mature beyond years and has always excelled academically, and they’re an advanced student in every core class, yet does nothing but homework. They have constant panic attacks and crying fits about school. They stay up very late every night doing schoolwork. I try to make them go to bed by 10, 11 if the homework load is extreme, but even after they tell me they’re going to go to bed and finish their homework the next morning, I sometimes hear the flipping of pages as late as 3:00 AM. I’ve caught them waking up as early as 3:45 to finish homework they couldn’t finish the previous night. They’ve stopped watching TV, spending time with family, making art, reading, and doing everything else they used to love. They intentionally downloaded a virus to their laptop to keep them from playing their favorite computer games. They won’t even have fun on the weekends because they have so much weekend homework. They refuse to go anywhere unless I make them. They used to be tidy and organized, but now everything from their room to their hair is a total mess. They have friends who have just “stopped trying.” Their best friend who went to Brown in elementary and middle school is now at Manuel, and she has told my child, “Manuel is tough, but we don’t get nearly as much work as we got at Brown,” and she, who is also a good student, was talking about Brown from middle school! Not high school! My child had a rough time in eighth grade due to their homework, and they suffered an extreme mental break and loss of control then that kept them from ever being the same again, but they’ve described their high school work load as “at least ten times worse.” I sometimes ask them about their agenda, and they often have OVER TEN ASSIGNMENTS—everything from essays to projects—to work on in addition to multiple long-term projects! Some of the teachers, like the math, Spanish, (some) electives, and English teachers are reasonable and only give moderate homework, but other teachers assign hours of homework for every two-day block cycle. It’s like they think that they’re the only class the kids have! This isn’t getting better. It only gets worse and worse. This isn’t just a problem for my kid. Their best friend has similar issues from what I understand. When I came to the open house I overheard two teenagers talking about some kids who vowed to run away or kill themselves if they got a C?!! What?!! I talked to my kid, and he said he didn’t know those kids well. This is a major issue and it needs to be addressed. Most teachers, I’m sure, don’t recognize the problem. They need to know.

Józef Piłsudski was a Polish patriot and statesman who devoted his life to the realization of an independent Polish nation but ultimately could not tolerate independent Poles. His career was a triumph of ability and will against tremendous odds. He did not choose to become the leader of Polish independence; that role was thrust upon him.

Most of the teachers are nice and you can learn a lot but the school doesn’t provide a high school experience and is much more focused around education then morale

Mao Zedong (Chinese: 毛泽东; Wade–Giles: Mao Tse-Tung /ˈmaʊ dzəˈdʊŋ, zə-, -ˈdɒŋ/ (About this sound listen); December 26, 1893 – September 9, 1976), courtesy name Runzhi (潤之),[1] also known as Chairman Mao, was a Chinese communist revolutionary, poet, political theorist and founding father of the Peoples Republic of China, which he ruled as the Chairman of the Communist Party of China from its establishment in 1949 until his death in 1976. His theories and military strategies and political policies are collectively known as Maoism or Marxism–Leninism–Maoism.Mao Zedong was the son of a wealthy farmer in Shaoshan, Hunan, Mao adopted a Chinese nationalist and anti-imperialist outlook in early life, particularly influenced by the events of the Xinhai Revolution of 1911 and May Fourth Movement of 1919. Mao adopted Marxism–Leninism while working at Peking University and became a founding member of the Communist Party of China (CPC), leading the Autumn Harvest Uprising in 1927. During the Chinese Civil War between the Kuomintang (KMT) and the CPC, Mao helped to found the Chinese Workers and Peasants Red Army, led the Jiangxi Soviets radical land policies and ultimately became head of the CPC during the Long March. Although the CPC temporarily allied with the KMT under the United Front during the Second Sino-Japanese War (1937–1945), after Japans surrender Chinas civil war resumed and in 1949 Maos forces defeated the Nationalists who withdrew to Taiwan. On October 1, 1949, Mao Zedong proclaimed the foundation of the Peoples Republic of China (PRC), a single-party state controlled by the CPC. In the following years Mao solidified his control through land reforms and through a psychological victory in the Korean War, and through campaigns against landlords, people he termed counter-revolutionaries, and other perceived enemies of the state. In 1957 he launched a campaign known as the Great Leap Forward that aimed to rapidly transform Chinas economy from an agrarian economy to an industrial one. This campaign led to the deadliest famine in history and the deaths of more than 15 million people. In 1966, he initiated the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution, a program to remove counter-revolutionary elements of Chinese society that lasted 10 years and which was marked by violent class struggle, widespread destruction of cultural artifacts and unprecedented elevation of Maos personality cult and which is officially regarded as a severe setback for the PRC.[2]In 1972, Mao welcomed American President Richard Nixon in Beijing, signalling a policy of opening China, which was furthered under the rule of Deng Xiaoping (1978–1989). Mao suffered a series of heart attacks in 1976 and died at the age of 82 on September 9. Mao was succeeded as paramount leader by Chairman Hua Guofeng (1976–1978), who was quickly sidelined and replaced by Deng.A controversial figure, Mao Zedong is regarded as one of the most important individuals in modern world history[3] and is also known as a theorist, military strategist, poet and visionary.[4] Supporters credit him with driving imperialism out of China,[5] modernising China and building it into a world power, promoting the status of women, improving education and health care, as well as increasing life expectancy as Chinas population grew from around 550 million to over 900 million under his leadership.[6][7] Conversely, his autocratic totalitarian regime has been vastly condemned for overseeing mass repressions and destruction of religious and cultural artifacts and sites, which through arbitrary executions, purges and forced labor caused an estimated 40 to 70 million deaths, which would rank his tenure as the top incidence of excess mortality in human history.[8][9]

God I hate this school, a girl got falsely accused for supposedly Taking a picture of a girl using the bathroom. When being questioned she volunteered to show an administrator her phones gallery as proof that she didnt commit to the allegations made of her, but was refused and given unnecessary disciplinary actions.
