The strong attention to community, and all the skills that are required for a positive community, is probably the single biggest thing that has helped our children feel safe, happy, and engaged at school. Its interesting how everything seems to fit together at Wingra. Students know their opinions matter - in learning and in other things - and when you think about it, that is part of having a safe, positive community.

Both of our children began going to Wingra School in Kindergarten. What we love most about Wingra is that our children LOVE going to school. The fact that they love school does not mean that learning is easy at Wingra. Students are challenged according to their learning level and abilities, pushing the envelope of their comfort zones. Our kids delve deeply into each subject, discovering how it applies to real life through field trips, hands-on projects, experiential learning and collaboration. What they learn sticks with them because it all feels relevant, applicable, and interesting! Kids are also expected to work in groups, collaborate with their peers, and learn to respect and listen to one another. As a result, our son and daughter have developed excellent leadership skills, empathy and self-confidence. Not only does Wingra nurture our children as learners, but the staff also works with them to be good friends and community members. Finally, what we love about the school is that our kids are allowed to be who they are and, with the help of Wingra, are developing into their best selves. Thanks, Wingra School!

I chose to teach at Wingra School because of its progressive philosophy. Students of all ages are able to make choices in their education. Teachers plan integrated units that incorporate what the students are interested in learning. Through multi-aged classrooms, students are able to learn leadership skills and practice democratic process. Field trips are a regular occurrence throughout the year. Students are learning through hands-on and engaging experiences. I love Wingra!

Wingra teachers take learning seriously, and they dont allow the pervasive reductivist education policies to impact how they approach teaching and learning. You will not find educators who care more about their students than Wingra teachers--academically and socially. Wingra students love school for many reasons, but perhaps the biggest reason is because Wingra educators dont view school as preparation for life; they view school as part of life, acknowledging the need for joy in learning.

When I think of Wingra School it brings dislike to mind. This school ( should I even call it a school ) lacks in learning, its style is not a thing to brag about . I would never recommend this school in a million years!!
