Weve been taking our 7-year old to the kids class twice a week all school year, and we love it. Membership is very affordable, the teacher to student ratio is really high, and the teachers are just amazing - they are patient and attentive and do a wonderful job engaging the kids through games and breaking down the moves to teach them, and my daughter really responds and is motivated by it all. She really likes the other kids and looks forward to seeing them. So many good lessons, too - in respect, attention to your partners needs, focus, perseverance, learning through repetition and small gains, and much more. And weve seen great improvements in her physically - her stamina, strength, balance, and more. Not to mention the confidence to dive into activities and keep trying, even when she is much smaller/younger than her opponent. This is a great club, and we feel very fortunate to be able to be a part of it. We HIGHLY recommend it.

This is a judo club, not a BJJ gym. As such the focus tends to be more on standing grappling than on groundwork, and almost exclusively with the jacket. This means there is a large emphasis on throws and throwing combinations. There are club members with a lot of BJJ experience who can help integrate the judo techniques into wider grappling, but the club does practice with the current IJF rule set.The instructors are excellent and Id recommend them both to beginners and advanced students. Ive only ever been in the adult class, but the kids class seems well-run. The group is open and inviting; if youve ever been interested in judo Id suggest popping by a class to see what its all about.
