Best barbershop Ive been to my whole life honestly. First, you basically never have to wait cause theres so many open seats and workers there. Next, they actually have super high quality haircuts, I asked for a fade and they explained the different types of fades very well. The only downside is that it takes a very long time to do the haircut but id much rather they do that with quality then rush it and mess up. They also put special treatment to close your hair pores, like what the heck, where do you get. I also got offered hair get and all this for $10 like what the heck. Barber got me nice and faded up for a wedding. They also get it checked at the end by a professional which makes it super reassuring theyre doing a good job which I really appreciate.

Been coming here consistently for around 6 years bring my teenage son. Peggy gets the best for my crazy curly hair. My son liked the way his hair turns out.

Today was horrible and she is such the nicest person alive , I went to go get cash back since cash is only accepted as a payment which is perfectly fine, unfornately I wasnt able to draw the cash off due to cash back limits and ATM fees but she gave me a tab and just told me to come back!🙂

The students here work hard and know their craft. Solid haircuts for $9???? Way way better than Great Clips or other chain stores. Get in there for a good cut and support the students. You’ll be glad you did

I come here all the time. I bring my two sons here too. The owner is very nice and good at what she does. I have no complaints. The guy in the video just had a problem. He just wanted a free haircut. The owner is a nice person and I know she is not racist because Im native American and she showed me and my sons nothing but respect. She know us when we come in and she know who we like to cut are hair. She is very good at costumer service.

I live walking distance from this place and have started to become a regular. Peggy and the staff are absolutely fantastic. People of all walks of life work/school here and they take care of customers of all walks of life. The people who dont actually know what its like inside this establishment have no right to rate it. This place is top notch.

Always friendly staff and students, Ive had at least 20 cuts here. Students all have their own style and techniques and the instructors always critique their work and have them fix it if youre not happy or the instructor doesnt accept the cut. Ive never had a bad hair cut, but some I liked more than others. I will keep coming back!

Absolutely not, they have young white boys to that know nothing about cutting a Latino or black person’s hair. The Judy got a haircut by a guy who cut my hair was a very super white kid who was nervous and messed up my hair badly😡. Horrible place to get a hair cut, go to a real shop who knows what they are doing. Will not Recommend to anyone

The students are very nice, and the owner is always extremely friendly and kind.To all the bad reviews, they’ve come from accounts that aren’t even from Minnesota, or accounts which only have that one review on them- as if people are deliberately creating fake accounts in order to leave false reviews. This shop is amazing, and the owner is a wonderful, hardworking, and kind woman!!

I have been going here for the last year and a half since moving to the Twin Cities area. I go once a month and have always received a good to excellent haircut from the student barbers. The shop seems to be well run and efficient. Aesthetically, the place is a bit old, but in an old-timey nostalgic way I suppose. Very good value. And the students have been consistently good. Diversity among students and customers is nice too.

Best choice I’ve ever made!! Minnesota School of Barbering changed my life. I got a job right out of school and have been making a great living for 30+ years. If your considering barbering as a career choice, go see for yourself!

Peggy likes to discriminate even against white people. My child tried attending the school and was treated horribly by her. She just likes to make up the rules as she goes. My child dropped out.

So well, that I dropped everything to immediately come here to leave five stars! Been going for many years and never a problem: always a good cut and extremely reasonable price. I tell all my friends about it. Peggy knows her craft very well and have never seen some of the junk posted on this thread.

Margaret Schmidt needs someone to put her straight as to what customer service is. It is not glaring at customers, or getting in their space, and definitely not treating a person of a different race the way she does. She claims to have so many accolades, but they dont speak for anything, her racism speaks volumes. Would never do business with this woman!

I’m not sure that most of the reviews here about this business are genuine. Most of them are from people who watched a video online and only saw part of what the “victim” wanted people to see. If you actually ask, the person in the video kept changing what they wanted they’re hair to be like while having a STUDENT cut their hair. After 3 times the owner came over to put a stop to it because at a certain point the customer was just using the student instead of moving on. Sure the owner might be brash but she is a teacher and has she be blunt with customers about certain things. Don’t listen to some of the reviews on here as they aren’t true and most of them aren’t even people who have been in the store but just people who watched a video of someone trying to label the place as racist cause they want some attention in their sad boring lives. How can a place be raciest when they have a diverse group of students? That doesn’t even make sense. Check it out for yourselves and remember that it’s about the students and learning. There’s always 2 sides to a story...

The owner from this place is a racist .... Making customers feel less like if shes more than anybody. She forgets that without customers she has no business. This place should be shut down.

Im sure this women is professional and fantastic at what she does, otherwise she wouldnt be able to court students to teach. It is now 2019 and the term Racist has lost its meaning, this business is getting ridiculous bad reviews based on an out of context video that was ciruclating Youtube. So now all these arm chair good for nothing sloths lither out of their beds to roll over to the phone or computer to write their scathing reviews claiming racisim. Apparently none of them care about context, Peggy did say something along these lines in that video: You only took the phone out now, you didnt want to film when you were being nasty and rude. Context is important, you can not omit context and fully understand what happened in a situation, yet every single 1 star review that cites racism does exactly that, pays no mind to context. Thats a god damn shame and its a huge problem in our society today.

I was amazed at how rudely i was treated. I brought my three year old in for a hair cut. The woman who runs it wanted me to leave my son alone with her and i was to sit in the other room. I said i wanted to stand near him as he is only three and i dont leave him alone. She then told me she refused to cut his hair and directed me to leave. She said it was one of their rules that the parent has to wait in the next room. She was then extremely rude to me, she refused to talk to me and we left. I dont know anyone who would want to leave their three year old with a stranger while,they waited in the next room.

The negative comments are due to the owner professionally and politely defending her business and her student after a client repedively harrassed them and become very distuptive. He then tried to get by without paying them anything. This is a great business thats very courteous of their customers. The owner treats everyone with the utmost respect and is a great teacher.

This place is cheap and the materials professional the barbers is good but you just need to be specific and think like a tailor to tell them exact lengths and such then youl be straight.

Peggy Schmidt was extremely rude, intimidating, and xenophobic to a paying client. In what world do you have to put down a mirror. In what world would you have a hired tattooed henchman help you. I have had my hair cut there for years and by many guys there and all have been great. The Owner, Peggy, is right on things to keep everything running smoothy all the time. No need to pay more!

This is one of the few places that do a decent job with cutting my hair.

Ive been going here on-and-off for a couple years. (On-and-off only because they close pretty early for my schedule.) I always get really decent haircuts — especially for the (VERY LOW!) price. Of course it takes a little longer than other places, they are students after all, but if youve got time, want to save some dough, and help people to learn, this is your place.
