I would say after reading the handbook that the highschool is too punitive. It is almost like a military school. You get 4 demerits if your shirt isnt tucked in, which a lot of the students probably get a lot of detentions and suspensions, and if you get 30 detentions or 20 suspensions, you wont graduate from highschool on time. You also have to visit a college 50% of the time in highschool in order to graduate. What if youre not sure which college you want to visit? Another graduation requirement is that you have to participate in sports or a club in order to graduate. What if you cant find a sport or a club that you like? One fact that if you arrive at 9:30 AM, they mark as a half a day absence, which it is not even half a day. They start school at 8:00 AM and end at 3:45 PM Monday-Thursday and 8:00 AM-1:20 PM Fridays. I highly doubt that when they finish the highschool that the highschoolers are going to graduate on time. I you want to go to Hiawatha Leadership Academy or if youre a parent who wants to enroll your child at the Hiawatha Academies, pull them out in highschool. If you are a highschool student who wants to go here, dont go here. If youre a parent who wants to enroll highschool students here, dont enroll them here because they may not receive their diploma on time.
