If you can avoid it, DO NOT enroll your kids in the Minneapolis Public Schools. Schools are underfunded, poorly managed, understaffed and discipline is a joke. The problem starts at the top with the overpaid, under qualified Superintendent of Schools and staff.Resources are unequally and unfairly distributed, resulting in better schools in south Minneapolis and poor schools in North Minneapolis. Recent budget cuts primarily affected North Minneapolis schools. Great teachers were let go. Quality teaching was sacrificed. This is a pattern I’ve watched for over 20 years.Parents, use the Choice is Yours Program and send your kids, and money, to other school districts. Shame on Minneapolis for not putting ALL kids first. You’re failing to teach the students that need it the most.

What are You guys gonna do about Franklin middle school You guys are allowing other schools to have computer and tablet access but they need computer and tablet access to they have work they need to get done since schools gonna be out until May 4 2020

Its Friday, payday. Im in the middle of switching financial institutions: turns out the number listed on my new account is incomplete but doesnt indicate this (ie. Click on account to display full number). New bank says no account matched, so it was returned to the Fed Reserve. MPS says it wont issue me another check until the other funds are returned. Their reason? What if the funds DO get deposited in my account? Lame. It didnt work the first time, why would it work the second or third?! Still wont match! So Im SOL with no rent money until Wednesday. Withholding my pay wont solve your $33 million budget deficit MPS.

Terrible. Im not allowed to go into my class for being a few seconds late, they dont care to help the struggling students they just pay attention to the ones who obviously dont need it. They dont listen to the parent or student suggestions. Theyre overall turning their schools into prisons. Cant wait to be done with it

I recently had an incident where the maintenance man from MPS on Broadway was mowing the lawn while I was working at an apartment building across the street. The maintenance man ended up busting my window from a rock that shot out of his mower now you would think that MPS would take care of it no problem, Ive been dealing with a lady named Dawn Solstys and been getting nothing but a run around shes been unprofessional and very rude and I cant believe this is how MPS conducts themselves when it comes to accountability and responsibility. The crazy thing is the apartment building I work at caught the maintenance manwhen he busted my window on video tape and I showed it to Dawn and at first she said no problem well take care of it now shes telling me after seeing the video tape that HER video tapes dont show that its their fault, wow, quick change of tune on their part. Dont know how much more proof they should need than that, but I guess $200 is too much for them to pay. What makes it so bad is that Ive got a 3 year old and a 1 year old that ride around in my car and I cant even bring them anywhere because I dont have a window. I explained to the school, Dawn, that I have a $500 deductible so I cant run it through my insurance and since its their fault they should just pay for it but theyve been brushing me off for weeks now so if this is how they handle their claims like this, a very small claim mind you, then I cant imagine it being a very good school to send your children because how would MPS respond if you CHILD had a major incident? The way that theyve handled this issue, I would never consider sending my kids to any of their schools. Ive been redirected to the legal department and Im still waiting to find out how theyre going to resolve this I will keep you posted well see how long this takes. Im guessing the snow will be flying long before this issue gets resolved. I will probably end up having to go to court and Im wondering if News Channel or Newspaper would be interested in this story. #verydissappointed

I have had nothing but good experiences in the Minneapolis public schools. I have found teachers to be great and behavior to be manageable

This district is not as educated as i planned it to be. I came from a district in california and everything theyre teaching me here, Ive already learned from my old school in california 2 years prior to attending a MPS school.

As a parent this program is the worst. Quyen Phan has already preconceived that the students are failures and the science teacher Erik Miller was horrible. After reading the description of the program Im not sure if the district really realizes how FALSE that description is. They give deadlines and the dont hold the teachers accountable for being available through the end of the deadlines and then fail the kids. Thats not student achievement. That not student support. and its not student success. Perhaps the high school program staff should be revamped with people who care because the 2 named above DO NOT.

Love the school but kids have to walk 17 blocks to school wat happens when Winter hit I think its a dam shame this school dont have buses for these kids 11 years old walking that far to and from school and only thing they can say is Transfer them SMH at minneapolis school District

I have already been to my son several times to change schools the last time I realized that they dont care about anything because my son suffered because they hit him with a shovel at school in the eye and when I went to an old woman who was in front of me even if he cares and when I told him to change school, an old woman who speaks Spanish so stupid asking that if one speaks Spanish it is so gross because before that old woman that aviated us, but Well, I never go back to that place those people are shit they dont care about anything just that they get paid and without doing anything too bad bad service They must change staff
