I have been flying since 1990 and for a time (10 years) owned an aircraft. I stopped flying about 5 years ago but in 2020 decided to resume. 9-11 then the financial crisis of 2008 decimated flying schools. The comeback has been slow, but flight training and rentals is going strong. Of all the flying establishments Ive used over the past 31 years, this is the best managed. He runs a good business in that you can pick the price point you want. My price point is $200/hour and that gets me a nice Arrow. Scheduling and checking out the plane is ridiculously simple and refreshingly pleasant. I just wish they had some HP planes in Rock Hill.

Just wanted to thank Aerowood Aviation. I got an introductory flight for my son on his birthday. He said it was breathtaking and the most exciting gift he’s ever had. Hard to beat that. The pilot, Jacob was awesome and and Danielle who helped set up the flight was super helpful as well. Thanks all around.

I’ve been a pilot for over 40 years. I recently lost my medical, after which my 14 year old granddaughter, who lives in another state, expressed an interest in aviation. I contacted Aerowood Aviation who helped me coordinate a “Discovery” ride. That’s when I met our pilot. Katie Slater. She was great to work with. She conducted the preflight, engaging my granddaughter in the process. She explained every action of the startup checklist and let her taxi the aircraft to the active, then handed her the controls 15 minutes after takeoff. I’m proud to say the kid turned out to be a natural. The raw talent is there.I was very impressed with Katie’s situational awareness, inside and outside the cockpit as well as constant focus on and communication with my granddaughter. As we came in to land, Katie brings it in and the stall warning horn goes off just before she greased the wheels on the runway. I had to laugh and told her she was just showing off.I’m 67, use a computer every day and this is the second time I’ve ever posted a comment, about anything. Great job Katie. We will see Aerowood Aviation and you again.

Aerowood Instructors focus on my training needs and are very flexible schedule wise. Their fleet is very well maintained and covers from tail.draggers, to a good ammount of 172s, on to high performance singles and twin engine. Back office commumicates regularly to keep all pilots informed of operational changes/reminders. A very well run flight school.

I wanted to take a Discovery Flight, I decided to go with Aerowood Aviation as their modern website was transparent and offers all of the information that you need. This includes a moderately sized list of airplanes along with the hourly rate, shall I pursue my private pilots license. Everyone in the office was relatively friendly, and David was a knowledgeable flight instructor. The flight was awesome as I controlled the airplane for much longer than I anticipated...and its safe to say that I have been bitten by the bug. I certainly will continue my lessons at Aerowood and I would (and have) recommended this company.

Aerowood is a great place to learn to fly or be a renter. Lots of training aircraft, nice collection of advanced planes as you progress. I got training here for my Commercial and Multi-Engine and continue to be a regular renter. Lots of good instructors, friendly and helpful staff. I also think they might have the best rates around the Charlotte area. Monroe Airport is also terrific.

***Avoid these guys*** Im highly disappointed with the entire experience for three reasons. First, the instructor canceled my booking less than 15 hours prior to my class without a sound reason. Since I was already on my way to Charlotte, I did not see his last minute automatic cancelation notification. This is a big problem due to the fact that as a non American resident, I had booked plane tickets and accomodations for the sole purpose of completing a flight review that never happened. Second, since nobody sits on site to inform students on the whereabouts of the instructors, I called the instructor 5 mins after the appointment time to see where he was. Third, he was unapologetic and did not give me a sound reason for canceling after all the expenses I incurred. This is a complete lack of respect to customers time.

This is my second flight school in a few years. Considering where I came from , its been great at Aerowood. I am having fun again flying and learning . It is expensive however, they try very hard to push you through, the airplanes are very well kept, the Instructors are always making sure you are prepared for what you are working on. Its all very structured. The best part is if your main CFI is unavailable you can network with other CFIs also to get another opinion. It helps maintain your consistency which is key as you are working on your ratings. I should of began here when i first started but moving forward I plan on getting all my ratings at this school .

Very disappointed in Aerowood Flight School. I sent my daughter there for a simple Flight Instructor rating which should take 2-3 weeks maximum especially with her level of experience being Commercial, Instrument, Multi-engine pilot with 600 hours. All FAA written completed with a 100 on one and 96 on the other. We had a 32 day timeline before she left to return to college for her senior year. Four weeks into the program the Chief Flight Instructor, Jim, had failed to cover even 3/4 of the syllabus. Not to mention failed to schedule a FAA examiner a head of time to complete the rating in timely manner.Aerowood Aviation might be the Flight school for you if you have unlimited funds and no timeline. They certainly had no issues charging for billable hours of wasted ground and flight instruction. The problem lies in the fact that no one is really looking at the end result. Chief Flight Instructor Jim Efirds lackadaisical approach to completing this rating knowing Maci had a college timeline is unconscionable. I contacted the owner Brandon I would definitely choose a more goal oriented reputable Flight School such as ATP or American Flyers In the future.

Great instructional flight in a beautiful SR20. Will Farrell is a highly knowledgeable CFI with a gift for teaching. He made the complex procedures understandable. Really enjoyed the lesson, especially with the AC making a hot afternoon comfortable - living the #cirruslife!
