I have always found Kathak to be a beautiful form of dance and I wanted to find a teacher who was truly passionate about this art form. Himanshi Patel is definitely such a great teacher, and I have grown so much as dancer with her guidance in just one year. I was born and raised in Brazil, no access to Indian cultural activities, ... I’ve dreamed about learning Kathak for a long time, so when I first came to the academy and meet my guru Himanshi I felt thrilled and grateful that she took me as one of her students. I was so challenged by the rhythmic complexity. From Himanshi guru I learned that Kathak is not just a dance or something you can memorize and replicate, it’s about the devotion love and respect for everything you do, it’s dedication though years of a endless journey. Himanshi is able to show her essence and love for Kathak so her students can feel it and transform it in something beautiful, peacefull when we dance. Because of that coming to class is one off my favorite things to do, and when we start the music and do our namaskar I’m the happiest.Today I can say that I found what I was looking for when I first dreamed about learning Kathak, My guru gave me the chance to overcome things that I believed to be my limitations I’m more confident in myself and more aware of my body, I know that I have so much more to learn and improve, but I have the confidence that I’m at the right place with the best and kindest Guru!
