Wildcat is a little different from most high schools. It gives you a restart on life, time to catch up. Wildcat gives you a second chance, it gave me a second chance. Schools are usually crowded and often make students fall behind because teachers can not provide that one on one time students need to excel. Wildcat welcomes all into a healthy yet small work space that makes it easier for teens to learn. Teachers are actually able to walk you through assignments as well as lead the rest of the class. You won’t feel behind. The teachers in Wildcat invest in all their students and urge them to never give up. The teacher in Wildcat, unlike other teachers I’ve had don’t give up on you, and they’re easy to work with. They understand not every kid learns at the same pace.Being a student at wildcat is similar to being a student in any other school. Of course there are rules, and people you have to respect. But Wildcat doesn’t treat you like a baby they treat you like the young adult you are. Wildcat feels like a home and it offers you a chance to step into the real world, something most schools don’t give you. They offer you internships and show you how to build your resume. All in all it gives you a head start for the real world.

In my own opinion I would say that Wildcat is one of the best schools out there. The school may be small but thats one of its strengths, as you feel as if you’re never left behind. Teachers guide you and motivate you to do work you never thought you could do. Being a student here is different from any other school as you feel like a family pushing each other to greatness for the betterment of everyone. I would highly recommend this school if youre willing to join and strive for greatness then this is the place for you!

At Wildcat they treat us like a family and there’s really no drama and kids be on track. Every student is trying to get somewhere and graduate. Even though Wildcat is a credit recovery school they don’t make it seem like it is. They are very helpful and also help out with jobs. I feel that other schools don’t help with one on one work because it’s a large amount of students and they don’t care as much as Wildcat. Wildcat makes me feel like a student because they stay on top of everyone and make sure everyone is on track. Teachers at Wildcat are very helpful and kind and they will help you with anything, as much as they can.

What I like about Wildcat is that they dont give up on you easily, they always try to help because they see potential in their students. What’s unique about the school is they show you work opportunities and prep you towards getting a job in the future. At wildcat there are smaller class settings, in the classroom teachers make sure everyone understands whatever it is they’re teaching before they move on and also they take the time to get to know the students and how they learn. As a student at Wildcat this school makes me feel like I can be better than I even know I can be. At Wildcat the teachers are understanding and strive for you to pass and graduate even if you feel like failing yourself.

What I like about Wildcats is that they always try to understand your situation and help you out any chance they can to make you succeed. The methods they teach and also their staff and students are so unique. You can experience support and more opening doors as well as gain experience at work places for your future knowledge. Me being a student at Wildcats makes me feel proud as well comforted to know I have a lot of support systems at school. The teachers in Wildcat are amazing, they try to push you to your best capacity and are always there when you need them.

What I like about Wildcat is that it’s a small school so it’s very easy to not get distracted and focus on your work. The amount of progress you get done there is amazing. You can get so much done in such little time. Wildcat makes me feel independent as a student. The teachers at Wildcat are really nice, caring and they take the extra step to help their students graduate the earliest they can. That’s why I like my Wildcat administrators and teachers.

What I mostly like about Wildcat is that it’s not to big of a school to were you lose you’re focus. You have the support system there with you to really guide you and set you up for success. This school is so special to me because it was my second chance at Getting a diploma and I was on the right path to get it but I suffered a tragic lost during the time that lead me to stop showing up but they still didn’t give up on me and welcomed me back with open arms pushing me to the finish line. Being at wildcat you will experience the support , dedication of your teachers.

It takes the right type of student to appreciate a school like this. You have to be dedicated and focused, because it easy to be consumed by your environment. Great Teachers and Great academic agenda that is actually do-able within a reasonable time period. I appreciated my time here; it gave me an opportunity to support myself financially and educationally. Great place to be.

Wildcat puts all the effort to help you graduate on time, as long as youre doing your part they help you a lot. Some other schools do not look for every way to help you but this school gives you the classes you need and not only that but it also gives you an internship, which helps you gain credits also. What’s special about this school is that it’s like no other. it tries to find every way possible to help you. the teachers and the staff are awesome too, nothing like any other schools I’ve been to. What you can experience at wildcat that you can’t experience at other schools is simply having a job while going to school like a job that pays you and not only that it also gives you credits for attending the internship. its just an experience that you wont have at any other schools. If you wanna graduate on time but don’t have enough credits go to Wildcat they will help you in every way possible.

Clearly the past 5-10 reviews are all talking about transgender views. I never had a problem with this school when it came to the LGBTQ community. It is very much obvious that this is someone that is just mad over one incident. This school changed many peoples lives and while youre reading this review. Check out the book Yo miss by Lisa Wilde whom is a teacher at John V Lindsay Wildcat Academy in the downtown Manhattan location. It is a book about students and staff at wildcat. a GRAPHIC book at that. For people who are seriously considering in changing your life around, this is the school for you. You wont regret it. These are the most compassionate staff Ive ever encountered. Give it a chance!

I graduated from this school in 2014, and I still speak so highly about it to my siblings, friends and colleagues. This school and it’s staff are the reason I am where I am today and I am eternally grateful, this school was the second chance I needed in order to wake up and grow up. If you are lucky enough to choose this school, don’t take the opportunities and programs you are offered for granted!

Some of the reviews here are probably from disgruntle thankless students who either didnt graduate from Wildcat or who cannot appreciate the hard work and effort the teachers and staff do to make this school a great place to learn and earn a high school diploma. There are far worse schools who let the kids run the place, make the rules and decide when they will come in and leave for the day. I cant say enough about them. They call me when my kid is late or wants to go home. They let me know if the school is open even in the middle of what is happening with terrorist threats, viruses and just plain every day concerns. Anyone who says differently has a problem with authority. Without this school, kids wont have a choice to go to college. I say thumbs down to those who are naysayers and thumbs up to those who have seen first hand what this school is doing for our community.

Thank you JVL Wildcat, if it wasn’t for your internship program I will not be where I am today. I definitely would recommend this school to others.

I attended the Bronx location and it was disgusting. The teachers are extremely unprofessional, disrespectful, uneducated, and incompetent. Theyre a private school so its not monitored by the DOE, but both locations need to shut their doors immediately. Very misleading and fraudulent. Do not attend! You wont graduate, the credits are so minimal there.EDIT: I am unaware of the LGBT Community crisis, because I didnt witness any ostracizing; however, I did witness to teachers cursing, making extremely inappropriate jokes; students not in uniform, and staff clueless as to what the teachers are doing/saying. I recall going to the principal at the Bronx location because of how uncomfortable I was of the dialogue in the classroom, and she claimed to have no idea the teacher spoke like that! Are you kidding me lady? How do you use profanity so CASUALLY, as an educator in a classroom? What teachers crack jokes (that are corny, by the way) about students mothers? I mean the food was atrocious, they lied about enforcing their dress code, and about how many credits you earn (ALMOST NONE). Ive been to many PUBLIC high schools in very rough areas and they dont come remotely close to how unethical this school is. Teachers talking about sex with the students, I mean really disturbing things... Yall, the list goes on.🤦🏾This school is for hoodlums who have no interest in graduating and becoming productive members of society. If you want sex talk, profanity, and lies, go to Wild Cat.... WILD is the right terminology. Their name says it all.P.S. Please do not speak on other peoples experiences, you make yourself look dumb. You werent there and you cant tell someone what their experience was (CINDY!) SMH.

This school did not help their students in abusive housing, much less when they went to homeless shelters. They did not help with the bullying or transphobic staff, and broke the guidelines of the DOE regarding transgender students and utilizing their preferred name and pronouns.
