Yutong has been an incredible teacher right from day one. She was able to tailor the curriculum to the aspects of the language that I was most interested in learning right from the beginning. Yutong created an encouraging balance that was challenging enough to make good progress but not too overwhelming. I would highly recommend her!

Shan-tan was an excellent teacher! She did a great job not only explaining the current lessons material but also relating it to my everyday situation and creating engaging conversation to help me remember new vocabulary and grammar. She was very understanding of my confusions and very productive to work with. Yutong also helped me feel supported by providing a multitude of resources from the school like textbooks and Mandarin-language content, as well as helping to understand my needs and pair me with the right teacher. I started out by using the integrated Chinese method, but later decided that a more conversation focused approach works better with my learning goals. Ive been taking lessons with Yutong for a bit over a year now and she is a wonderful Chinese teacher!On the one hand, her lessons are very solidly planned out and build towards very concrete goals. She has a lot of experience teaching in many different types of settings (including to schoolchildren), and it seems to me that she’s honed her lesson planning skills very well.On the other hand, she allows each lesson to be very fluid and conversational: she starts each lesson conversationally and allows the lesson to adapt with some degree of freedom. She remembers what I know and what I have trouble with and is never impatient with explaining something multiple times (which I sometimes need!).Another nice thing about Yutong’s lessons is that she draws on a very wide range of material: there’s a textbook which provides a broad foundation, but beyond that she introduces Chinese and western youtubers, music videos, children’s videos, etc to present a rich amount of learning material.She also conveys a great enthusiasm for learning Chinese and for languages in general! For example, she clearly loves teaching and discussing the history of how certain characters came to be the way they are, the societal context behind certain words, and the cultural relevance of tongue twisters.All in all, I would highly recommend!

What’s great about Ms.Chen is her determination to personalize her lessons to strengthen your weaknesses. Although I was able to read and write basic Chinese, I was unable to have a Chinese conversation with confidence. Within taking a few months of Ms. Chen, I was doing nothing but talking Mandarin whenever I had the chance — and I was having so much fun! Ms.Chen is not only a passionate teacher, but a wonderful person that really cares about improving your Chinese language skills whether it’s Mandarin or Cantonese. She also makes sure to teach you how to speak and conduct yourself in different situations: business, casual or family. Her classes taught me more than just the Chinese language but also the culture. I highly recommend taking a class with Ms. Chen. She is fun, hip, and sharp. She is the best!

Chens teaching style is different from other Chinese teachers I’ve used in the past. Instead of just reading from the textbook, she keeps my needs and learning preferences in mind(conversation-focused) and would use things like conversational scenarios that were meaningful and interesting to me. She really tries to live up to the school’s claim of personalized training for each student. I highly recommend her!

I’m taking one-on-one Cantonese classes with Ms. Chan about twice a week. Her classes are both fun and practical. She’s very good at keeping me engaged with different conversational activities and also caters to my needs to use the language in business settings. I’ve had quite a few Cantonese teachers in the past and I have to say Ms. Chan is the best so far!

Amazing teacher - fun, great, good methodology where I actually learn/retain lessons and have improved. Cantonese is super hard, but Ive improved and Yutong has made it a fun ride over the past 3+ years. I love how she tailors the lessons/curriculum to what I want to learn, from daily life to slang.

I have been taking online one-on-one classes with Shan-Tan for nine months now and I cant believe how much Ive learned! Shan-Tan is a great teacher- instead of strictly sticking to the textbook, she always finds a way to teach the grammar by weaving in current events or topics that are relevant to me. I took classes with Chen Laoshi from Unlock Chinese and it really helped me feel more comfortable with an upcoming trip to Taiwan. She helped me work through the most common phrases I would need for the trip and was very accommodating with the schedule and location, willing to teach after hours at my office. +1 would recommend if looking for a good Chinese class!

Over the last two years, Ive had a great experience learning mandarin with Laoshi Wang. The tutoring sessions have really helped me develop my conversational skills, always in a supportive environment. Also, Ive learned about the target culture, which was helpful for my visit to Beijing last year.For the amount of time that I have studied the language, I feel like Ive made progress. Id definitely recommend my instructor to anyone who is looking for an efficient way to learn the language.

I am taking online Cantonese lessons with Melody, just want to surprise my boyfriend. Melodys really good in leading me to have conversations in Cantonese. Shes also teaching me southern Chinese culture behind the language! I feel like im not just picking up words but also learning how the locals think. Great fun indeed! Hope I can suprise my boyfriend and his families in Conghua this coming Chinese New Year! Fingers crossed!
