I dont want special treatment because I get treated here. But how is that nothing could be done while the supervisor is on vacation. Why is there no one to help till she gets back. You guys really let me down. I think you guys should be more considerate with how important something is to someone and if you can help. At least a strait yes or we cant help you. Would be understanding. Why isnt a place like this that are supposed to be helping people with issues have no one to over ride a date approval or at least consider to hear from me and tell why cant you be able to help me. I really hope youre vacationing was worth my pain. Thank you for showing me how this place can work . You let me down without a answer and my problem in my hands with no help or a Im sorry to satisfy me. If I explained how serious this was why wasnt this considered and related back to whos in charge. Its like a teacher leaving a classroom full of children with no worries about what they do while shes on vacation so its okay.

Low quality treatment that will make your mental health worse. My therapist at PRFI was a white woman who questioned my status as a POC, gave me dirty looks when I discussed some very basic troubles I have had to deal with in life, and was completely abysmmal in helping me understand myself better. She said some truly unprofessional things Ill never forget. Get over it and most people arent bothered by this like you are were seriously her responses for me, without any effort to get to the bottom of why I think differently from others.I am now in EMDR therapy for PTSD, something she would have never understood I had. That is how awful she was.

Stay away. The therapist I was assigned was judgmental and negative about my feelings and experiences, which thanks to my current therapist I have been allowed to fully accept and understand are reasonable in order for me to move on from them. The psychiatrist at PRFI, which they offer two sessions a year with, is even worse: accusatory, constantly interrupting patients, and condescending. Even my therapist warned me people find him intense. Rude and unprofessional is more accurate. I dont know what is more of a warning sign about this place than therapists are warning patients a psychiatrist is going to negatively impace an already highly traumatized population. The therapists then refuse to discuss anything more about the psychiatrist and refuse to accept your feedback about him.Overall, its a dysfunctional and frankly bizarre setup. Im guessing because this is a community organization, their budget is limited so all their salaries are low, which means they will attract a low caliber of mental health professionals. You can find better in Manhattan.Edit: please note my review is on the mental health service, not on any other aspect of the organization. Im sure PRFI overall does incredible work.

Volunteered here by making phone calls to reach out to various donors. They are a top notch organization that helps local Puerto Ricans in need. Very caring and professional staff. Volunteer with them if you can! They even provide donuts and coffee which was unexpected.

My only family in New York City, I went to that place and the help they gave me was something heavenly. Offices that are for anyone who goes with some need.
