I’ve had 2 lessons so far and I’m hooked! I hadn’t ridden in years before finding NYCRA. Both of my instructors were patient, friendly, and knowledgeable. It’s a clean, pleasant place to spend a morning or afternoon. The horses seem happy and well-loved. I saw students ranging from 4-5 up to middle aged. I’ll be going back as often as I can!
Full disclosure: I first started taking lessons here, and I enjoyed it so much, now I volunteer here. Im not paid at all, so this is in no way personal interest! I love the NYCRA. The people are so kind and dedicated, the horses are really sweet (but dont be fooled -- they move!), and the instruction is excellent. I had a great lesson today where a concept that took me so long at another barn (changing my diagonal) was so clearly explained that it clicked in one lesson. If you want high-quality instruction at a reasonable price in Manhattan, this is the only place to go. (Literally. Its the only horse riding school in Manhattan.)
Dr. Blair and Mrs. Ann are wonderful. The instructors are patient and knowledgeable. This was our first year and we plan to come back every year!
Wonderful peaceful location in New York City. Well run and staffed by volunteers with big hearts for service and the well being of the horses, and a true commitment to reaching and helping kids become competent riders.
Would this place be a good place for me to learn how to train horses
Many thanks for the warm and safe walk.
My children loved their horse riding camp!
That place is very expensive and very rude and snobby.I have taken it there & that place was a disaster. The instructors were awful the horses havent been ridden.I would not recommend anyone to take this place
