I cannot put into words just how much we love and appreciate MMS. Our son’s teachers were thoughtful, sweet, attentive and deeply committed to his well-being. They don’t have a one-size-fits-all approach to learning and treat each child as an individual. They encourage their strengths and help them in areas that need improvement. We will always be grateful to this school and the wonderful people in it. We cant recommend it highly enough.

We have been at MMS for 6 years and we absolutely love it. Our son is thriving in the school’s environment – small classes, caring teachers and staff and yet very strong academically. We have seen him grow in confidence and maturity over these years and he is so happy there. We have also been extremely impressed by the way the school managed Covid, and with safety as a top priority, still being able to remain open 5 days a week throughout the school year.

Weve been at the school for the past eight years, with three very different children who are all thriving. Now that we have switched to distance learning, the quality of the teachers and the relationship they have with the children, have become so apparent. Our oldest is graduating this year, and I know well never find a place as magical as MMS!

This is a great small school that goes from Kindergarten to 6th grade. It also offers other programs for toddlers. The school is known for having a great balance between academic rigor and broad personal development. Tuition is also competitive vs alternatives.I have 3 daughters that have attended the school and have been very please to see how they have developed with an amazing level of self awareness and self confidence at a relatively young age.During the ex-mission process of my children I was able to see how well regarded the school is among the top schools in New York City.Truly the best well kept secret of the Upper West Side...

I cant say enough wonderful things about MMS. This school is warm, supportive, innovative and a wonderful place for little humans to grow into amazing, empathetic and intelligent adults. I am so happy that my children are able to go here!The teachers, staff and administrators truly care about each child and family, and the curriculum is ingenious in finding ways to engage the children in every way possible. The facility is superb- there is truly something for everyone!

My son is just completing his first 3 year Montessori cycle at MMS and its been incredible. Throughout the 3 years, his knowledgable and empathetic teachers have helped him grow from a nervous 3 year old to a confident, well rounded learner. The school and staff take pride in helping children become emotionally intelligent as well as independent life long lovers of learning. In addition, the small school size, frequent communication, and community-oriented philosophy makes it feel like a family. Having seen how articulate, internally-driven, and kind the 6th graders are, I feel confident that weve made the right choice for our sons education. Definitely a far cry from how I learned at public school in nyc!

If I could do it over again, my child wouldn’t step foot into this school. Ineffective instruction, inequitable practices and lack of regard for the socio emotional well being of students...more specifically diverse students.High staff turnover rate and incompetent head of school.

Gifted and caring teachers that teach to the individual child, beautiful facilities, creative/warm/fun/down-to-earth community which has become an extension of our family. This school is a treasure.
