“I have no words of how wonderful this school is. They are hands on with the children. They are dedicated and devoted to giving their best. The staff deals with situations one on one and they understand that each child is unique and different. Dawn is so warming and caring. She greets everyone with such joy and love. I love their programs: they are engaging, helping children develop their fine and gross motors skills. Enhancing their verbal/social skills. I love Perry school, their is no school like this one. I love the staff.”

The most amazing, nurturing and educational environment you could ever want for your child. All the teachers know every child by name, regardless of whether they directly teach your child or not. Dawn and her team make every child feel wanted, included and confident to learn. The curriculum is exactly right for each age group. Honestly, you won’t find a more caring place for your little one to start their educational journey!

I cant speak highly enough about our and our childrens experience at Perry School. Our daughter attended Perry for three years, starting with Baby Moves classes when she was an infant and moving into the 2s and 3s preschool program. The teachers are creative, warm, and engaging and the curriculum is challenging yet always varied and fun. Their efforts helped inculcate a love of learning in our daughter from her earliest years that has carried through to the present day. The Think Tank program, which she took when she was three, provided excellent preparation for grade school and was instrumental in her gaining acceptance into New Yorks Gifted and Talented Program. Even in the G&T program, her teachers have marveled at how prepared she is for the advanced curriculum. But as great as the educational experience at Perry is, the best part about the school is the sense of community that the head of school Dawn Leslie Stewart and her teachers foster. They get to know every parent and child individually, tailoring the educational experience to each childs personality and interests. We have seen this first hand with two-year-old son, who also attends Perry School. We were worried initially, because his personality is quite different from his sisters: his speech was not as advanced, and he was more cautious and reticent around people he didnt know. Our fears, it turns out, were completely misplaced. Since hes started at Perry, his personality has undergone a remarkable change. He is much less clingy and dependent on his parents, and he is able to express himself with more confidence around both friends and strangers alike. He now relishes singing, counting, reciting his alphabet, and pointing out different shapes and colors. Most importantly, when he gets frustrated, he knows how to calm himself down and ask for help from the nearest adult. It is these fundamental skills -- self-reliance, communication, emotional maturity, and mindfulness -- that Dawn and her teachers do such an amazing job of fostering in their students, and which set the stage for their ability to thrive both academically and emotionally as they get older. In short, Perry School is a wonderful place for children. I cant recommend it highly enough.

I heard people say bad things about the place and the owner, but I live nearby so I wanted to give it a chance. It was bad! bad enough to add another bad review. At least the families we met were nice - I love the West Village !

My five and a half year old son Walt went to the Perry Schools summer program (called NYC Kids Camp) all summer and absolutely loved it! The staff is wonderful....involved, attentive and loads of fun. The facilities are spotlessly clean. Housed in Richard Meiers Westbeth housing complex on Bank Street, the camp is surrounded by artists and galleries and cool architecture. Their weeks are full of fun activities and great field trips. One week the kids took a ride on The Beast, the big high speed powerboat that cruises up and down the Hudson. The next week they went to a Yankee game. They go swimming all the time, they go to parks, they go on the Highline. They also researched Leonardo daVinci and worked on a whole bunch of art projects. They go to the library, they get swim lessons at the YMCA......every day is something new and fun. Walt has already pleaded with me to sign him up for next summer! I cant recommend this camp enough (and the Perry Street School).
