Last year we went on a search for the best BJJ gym in Omaha for our kids. This included research online, visiting the gyms and watching the classes to going to competition and witnessing the different teams and its coaches in action.OABJJ stood out from all the rest. Hands down!!Professor Dennis is one of a kind. He truly cares about his students and wants the best for them. It shows in everything he does. Incredibly knowledgeable and skilled in the sport. I’m a huge fan of the sport and have been for most of my life. Going to the gym and watching Dennis coach the kids is the best part of my day.From the coaches to the students to the parents, everyone is one big family! There is something really special about this gym.We are grateful for professor Dennis!

In 2016 I decided that I was going to try Jiu jitsu. I talk to a few people that had been training for awhile. I gave a few gyms a try around Omaha and one in Council Bluffs. None of them felt right. After a few classes here and there a buddy told my that one of the instructors at the gym he trains at is opening a new gym. I waited a month for the new gym to open. I am so thankful that Dennis opened his gym. I have been a student from day one and will be a student until the day comes when I can no longer train. Dennis runs the best school in Omaha. This is not my opinion, this is proven. This school products champions. The best part about the school is the kids program. I love seeing the kids grow, not just in their grappling but as people. If you are looking to just get in better shape or looking to compete you wont find a better group of people or a better school in Omaha.

Ive been a student of Professor Dennis Bacon for three years. He is one of the most dedicated teachers Ive had in my life. He cares so deeply about the sport and for all of the members of his school. The culture he creates is warm and highly inclusive. He knows and cares for every student, and masterfully guides them on their unique BJJ journey. We are so fortunate to have found this gym when we moved to Omaha! My son and daughter started rolling a couple years ago and its been amazing for them. Physically and mentally they have grown so much in that time. They have competed and won several tournaments. Now our whole family goes to classes. This is so much more than just a place to train. This has become a family away from home. If you want to learn for fun or become a champion this is the spot!

This has been a great place to learn BJJ from scratch. Dennis is motivating, enjoyable to be around, and encouraging. The gym has quickly become a second home for our family. This gym competes at the top level at tournaments, however a competitors mentality and outlook is not required to be accepted and welcomed at this gym. I recommend it for both new and experienced practitioners.

My kids ages 10&7 love OABJJ. They have been at his academy now for almost 3 years. They enjoy Dennis and his patience with them and the other kids. I myself do not participate but i thoroughly enjoy watching my kids. Thank you Dennis for all the hard work you do for our kids.

Military family stationed at Offutt. We drive 45 minutes one way to take part in this family, and i do mean family. Its a great group of people, not to mention the instructor is highly skilled and works extremely well with kids, in a sport that inherently pushes people out of their comfort zones. Highly recommended.

This is the best gym in Omaha. Our entire family has been going here for years without a complaint from us. Professor Dennis is a true professional. Humble people, chill environment, clean facility, great teaching

Dennis is a great coach. He has a passion for what he teaches and his students. He takes the time to really get to know every one, tailoring things to fit each individual. Dennis is approachable and easy to talk to. He takes the time to listen to your questions and ideas, providing great feedback. He truly wants you to succeed.Somehow there is great mix of a family atmosphere as well as a strong competitive atmosphere. Many of the kids have their parents training as well. Everyone gets along and helps each other out. It is wonderful to have a place to train that isn’t harshly formal yet still provides intense and effective training.On top of all that, Dennis is a beast when it comes to BJJ.

Ive been training with OABJJ for two years. Were all Jiu-Jitsu, 6 days/week. We train for competition. Our style is simple and out training is repetitive. There are places in town where the training is less focused and intense, but I appreciate the opportunity to be pushed to achieve at the highest levels. The flipside of that coin is that everyone is supportive. Ive struggled, but I never felt like I struggled alone. Its nice to win gold medals, especially when you started at the bottom, getting your butt kicked. But the calm, the confidence, the relationships you build here. I really feel like I lucked out falling in with Dennis and the OABJJ crew.

As newcomers to BJJ, I didn’t quite know what to expect but Professor Dennis immediately welcomed in our family.My 2 (soon to be 3) boys and I have spent the last year training 4-5 x/week and enjoy every minute of it. We found the Omaha Academy of Brazilian Jujitsu over a year ago and couldn’t have found a better second home. Professor Dennis is an amazing coach who has true passion for these kids and jujitsu. This is beyond the best place if you are looking for jiu jitsu! Not only is it like a family everyone truly cares for each other. The dedication, fun, and determination in both kids and adults is unlike anything I have ever experienced. If it wasn’t for Professor Dennis I wouldn’t have ever tried it myself and I was the last one of my family to join. Now we get to experience jiu jitsu together with amazing people and an amazing professor! There is nothing better than this place it is no longer a jiu jitsu academy, but our family. I would recommend it 1000%.

Im a 10th Planet Omaha student and our sensei went to instruct a class while their sensei was out of town. A handful of us from our dojo went to the class. We were welcomed with open guards! Everyone there was great and it was a fun time. Glad for the experience.
