My girls and I have been riding the horses here for the last 6 months. My kids love these horses, they are so sweet and gentle. It is the highlight of their week and all they want to do. The new arena is huge which is so nice for lessons. We are big fans of this place. ❤️❤️

It was an excellent outing for my family. Instructor was running behind due to another staff member needing to leave. But her and the horses were calm, gentle and patient. Very understanding of the inexperience of the young riders. Kinda cut short with more customers arriving, but we were more than happy to move along and help the instructor maintain their schedule.

My daughter had a really good time. I didnt like that I had to drop her off without getting out of the car. But because of the parking being non existent it was dropping my kid off without speaking to anyone. The hours seem a bit short. Driving from Vancouver to drop off @ 810 and then back to pick up @ 115 didnt feel long enough. I think that the camp being 4 days made up for the short day. My daughter brought home adorable crafts that she made everyday. She said she had the time of her life. Thankfully the owner took pictures and sent them home. I was kinda bummed about not getting to see my daughter. So Im grateful for that also.

I have been with Lynne for 5 years now and she is absolutely wonderful. I haven’t rode in over 40 years and she helped me get back into the saddle again. I have since bought my own horse and he boards there and is a happy comic boy. I have also stated doing shows again and help out with lessons as well as run lessons for special needs. This is a wonderful place with lots of open spaces, the lesson horses get rotated on a regular basis and the owned horses get out as well at the instruction of the owners. Some like there horses out all the time no matter what the weather is like and some like them to be out in fair weather. I have assisted in many of birthday parties and everyone leaves happy with great smiles. If you are looking for a place to learn to ride, or wanting to get back into the saddle again, or have a special birthday party, I would highly recommend this place. Also every year they hold horse camps for the children and watching them learn about how to take care of there horses with the 4-H leader and an adult for safety reasons, they do arts and crafts daily and just have plain fun. Please give this place a try, you won’t be disappointed.

My son had his first lesson today, he was so scared. But the trainers didnt let him quit, they gave him all the confidence he needed and more to get up on his horse named Kate (who was more than patient and just plain sweet)! After cheering from everyone in the arena he rode his horse (guided), but all smiles and no more tears! We cant wait to go back. Everyone was great and kind, nothing but encouragement! It is such a wonderful atmosphere! We will definitely become regulars!

Very unpleasant experience with this barn. It was a very concerning experience for my/any children. I suggest using any other barn than this one for lessons and or camp. They are not concerned with their quality of service. It is apparent when they argue with a parent, when they raise concerns. Caling my child a liar, essentially. Saying xyz did not happen, when my young adult child AND her peers all say it did. Not ok. Will never do business here again. I will encourage any and everyone to stay away.

DO NOT RIDE HERE. Poor quality, poor value. Horses are mistreated and it’s not professional. Read the reviews! I wish I had. Click here to read my experience. We showed up on time for a small group lesson and entered the barn. Lynn was finishing another lesson. While filling out our waivers, I overheard her talking to another woman saying “we will just use these horses since they are already saddled”.I am an experienced rider so my ears perked up realizing that these horses were not going to get a break in between sessions. She brought the horses out of the arena and didn’t even give them any food or water between riders. She runs her horses like mules.Lynne said the most experienced rider needs to go on this horse. Then she walked out of the arena and left us with a woman that barely knew what she was doing. One of the staff members kept asking what her name was. Nobody seemed to know her. When we got into the arena, this unknown trainer had the reins of my friends horse and the horse was showing resistance - he didn’t want to go back in. He was probably hungry and exhausted. The trainer lifted her fist as if she was going to punch him and then one of the staff members came over to help lead him.The horse I was on was super scattered. As an experienced rider, I am comfortable with a scattered horse but this horse, I did not trust. I know how to use my legs and the reins to communicate. After 10 minutes on this horse, I immediately got off. I felt unsafe. For me to feel unsafe is uncommon. I would not risk an injury on one of her horses.I joined the trainer in the middle of the arena and heard her tell my friend to start trotting. My friend has minimal experience. This trainer didn’t teach her any basics like how to use your legs or how to use the reins. I began training my friend on how to ride her horse. The unknown trainer said, well you seem to know what you’re doing and she left the arena!Toward the end of the lesson, I realized my friends horse was also super unresponsive, he began sticking his tongue out and foaming at the mouth. I realized his bit was under his tongue (it’s supposed to be over the tongue). She got off of her horse, I paid for her lesson only as a courtesy. I shouldn’t have even done that. As we were leaving and saying goodbye to her horse he tried to bite us. He was super aggressive and unhappy. We will never return to this stable. Horses are sacred animals, I feel for her horses and how terribly she runs them. Truly unfortunate experience.

I voluntered to work at this yard in return for free rides. Big mistake.I am a very experienced horseman with 50 years of experience and have only occasionally come across a more poorly run establishment. The owner is hardly ever present and leaves as much work as she can to volunteers. She accepts money from boarders, does no work herself relying on the volunteers to take care of the horses. The bedding is rationed and way too thin. The hay is very poor being either very dusty or still green. One leads COPD, the other to the risk of collic due to fermentation of the hay.It is amazing that this yard is still in business and has not either gone backrupt or been shut down by the humane society.

I have never posted a review, good or bad, before... but I feel very strongly about my experience with Amethyst, and Lynn. She embarrassed my shy teenage daughter horribly, and for our 2nd lesson, said we would have to forfeit (after driving over an hour to get there) our lesson. She said we were late!I don’t think I’ve ever been so helplessly angry. So, I’m writing a review. Maybe I can save some other mom out there, that is thinking...”maybe this’ll be a fun way to get us all together as a family, and have som fun!” ..... don’t bet on it :(

It was great to be able to brush and clean up my rental horse, then saddle and bridle her and off I went with my friend. I have been back several times and plan on continuing with my riding. I have ridden the same horse each time. She is wonderful! Takes her commands very well. Can ride either english or western. Lynn has always been extremely accommodating for me. Been a horse person all my life and I was super impressed today! I don’t ever believe bad reviews because you never know a persons day or if someone is having revenge on someone but I do know that this place is just what we’ve been looking for. The worst place Ive ever experienced. They didnt have any responsibility.I bought a four-time horseback riding lesson voucher from Grupon and visited twice of them.Every time I went, I texted and always arrived 10 minutes ago, but my reservation was missing on the first day. They didnt even know my reservation and I wasted 20 minutes without anything. The voucher I bought was an hour lesson, but my children took a horse only 30min.Also, the woman who came as a substitute instructor in a hurry on the first day spoke very firmly to my child and was not kind at all.She seemed more concerned about the saddle breaking of a horse than about the safety of my child. However, I made a second reservation for the pleasure of riding a horse, even though it is unpleasant experience. The second reservation was made at 9 a.m. on Monday, so I left early with my children but no instructor showed up.No show!I called at 9 oclock but they didnt answer the phone. No one showed up after waiting for a while.I got a text message 40 minutes later. The instructor said I had to go ER.So I asked refund but she said, it is posted, we cant refund. But I have never seen about refund policy.I did everything correctly such as reservation, arrive on time.Ive had two very unpleasant experiences out of four vouchers.Even though I dont want to go again and theres no fault of mine, I cant get a refund. She told me give more free lessons, but I cant believe it and I dont want to visit again Thats the worst.😡😡😡😡😡Also, I couldnt get refund.Waste time, my passion, gas.

I bought a groupon for a birthday party for my 11 year old daughter. Horses are a 11 year olds dream. Per the groupon the birthday group would have dressed up horses and they would get to brush the horses. We scheduled the party over 2 weeks out. Plenty of time for everyone to know we were coming. We decided due to covid we would only bring the birthday girl and 1 friend. We also thought this would give them more time to ride. When we arrived we did just as the directions said. We waited outside of the arena for more than 10 minutes before someone greeted us and told us what we needed to do. We had our permission slips signed and ready all to save time. Again we stood and waited. We told 2 people why we were there. We were finally taken to a horse who was already saddled and ready to go. The lady who was helping the girls asked them at least 5 times each if it was there first lesson which they replied every time they were there for a birthday party. My daughter the birthday girl was finally on the horse at 4:24 (first picture taken) she was instructed how to get the horse to walk, the lady quickly lost patience with her. My daughter was nervous being her first time on a horse, so she asked the lady to walk with her. The lady told her, her time was up and she had to get off. The time was 4:28 and my daughter was crying. A 4 minute ride for the birthday girl. My daughters friend got on and again was treated like she was in a lesson, the lady had no patience with her either her ride was over at 4:33. The lady told us our lesson was over. I explained to the lady we were there for a bday party. She had us talk to a girl named Angelina who did her best to fix the situation at 4:47 my daughter got back on the horse and at 4:54 her friend got another turn. So all together they both rode a horse for 11 min each. I cant imagine what would of happened if we would have brought 5 girls with us. It was so disappointing. We drove over an hour to get there, we did all we were supposed to do. I even told several friends about the groupon (which I now regret). The girls were really looking forward to riding these horse. Every girls dream is to ride a horse. I would not recommend this place especially if your daughter really wants to ride. They will ruin that for her.

Booked a birthday party, showed up after confirming several times, the owner never showed up or answered her phone. Luckily, a high-school aged girl offered to give rides to the kids-the only reason I gave 2 stars. After discussing this situation with others, turns out that the owner has a horrible reputation for no shows and collecting deposits via venmo and not refunding. After this I also noticed the owner on a local social media chitchat asking for donations for fire damage and distress to her horses. We didnt notice any distress to the horses or damage to the property. Seasoned scammer!

We were hopeful we had found a long term barn when we found Amethyst Performance Horses and were VERY sorely mistaken. Our experience went as such -Lesson 1 : Arrived on time, Lynn was there and ready for the initial lesson. All went great, however my warning should have been her talking poorly about a parent there for her children’s lesson after my daughters.Lesson 2 : Scheduled for Thursday afternoon, Lynn texted in the morning and cancelled due to illness, no worries that happens! Rescheduled for the following Thursday as well as Saturday to make up for the missed week.New lesson 2 : Different instructor that my daughter really liked, lesson all was fine.Lesson 3 : Arrive Saturday on time for scheduled lesson with Liz. There is no one named Liz at the barn, the instructor who was there didn’t have my daughter on her schedule but agreed to do her lesson. Lynn text me later in the day to schedule her next lesson (#4) and was surprised to hear we had a lesson earlier that day (that SHE scheduled with me, warning sign 2).Lesson 4 : Arrived early, received a text Lynn was stuck in traffic and no idea when she would be there. Told her ok we’ll wait, I had a friend drive from an hour away to take my daughter as I had to work. She texts me a few minutes later that Lorraine will be doing my daughters lesson. When I arrive home I find my VERY upset daughter and friend and hear that Lorraine had NO idea she was supposed to be giving my daughter her lesson, as she was giving 2 other girls an English lesson and my daughter rides Western. We also pay extra for private lessons. When my friend let her know Lynn text that she would be instructing my daughter she said “I guess I’ll try and do hers too then”. She then put my daughter on a horse and told her (I quote) : “You’ll need to be careful because he kicks other horses” and sends her into an arena with 2 other horses 🤦🏻‍♀️ My daughter proceeds to spend her hour long “private” lesson walking small circles in the middle of the arena while the 2 girls riding English have their lesson on the outer wall.I text Lynn to discuss my concerns and ask for a refund of the lesson as well as the future lessons I paid for since I wasn’t comfortable, and more importantly my daughter wasn’t comfortable, with the experience we had. She said “ok sorry” and that my daughter was on a “very safe champion horse”. Fine, but if that’s the case why was she specifically told to be careful about keeping away from other horses?! She then proceeds to tell me it is my daughters fault for “not listening” and refuses a refund but instead offers a free lesson. Yea right! I wish I would have been more diligent in reading reviews prior to going here and not wasted my money. BEWARE - you get a small discount to prepay 4 lessons at a time and it’s NEVER mentioned you won’t get a refund if anything changes and you decide to not use them, even when it’s the owner is in the wrong.

I went to this place with high expectations. One of my favorite things to do as an equestrian is care for the horses (brush them, tack them, etc.) they did not let me brush the horse, tack the horse, or even let me pet the horse. Once I got on the were very demanding and very rude. As a beginner rider they expect you to know how to do everything under the sun. The horse was very pretty. But also was demanding. I was told to do this and that. And I was doing that and I was treated like I was an annoyance and a failular. Not once in my 2 years of riding have I had to apologize to a trainer for not pulling a horse to the right. Not to mention, (this may not be a big deal for some) but for me, riding with a bit is 100% wrong. I understand that some horses need to be ridden in a bit. But when a horse starts to pull away against it, it’s causes a lot of tension for the rider. I ended up feeling VERY unsafe on these horses. Take caution when choosing to ride here..Book a lesson

If you like to be treated like youre an annoyance... I recommend this place. If you like to pay $100.00 for a 15min ride (not a lesson like it was suppose to be)... I recommend this place. If you like to explain to your child that theyre not going to their lesson again, because of yet another last minute cancellation. Which ends up with your child heart broken. (This happened more then once).. I recommend this place. If you like to be ripped off and not be refunded for their problems. (This was not disclosed to me, when I purchased lessons over the phone. But was mentioned when I asked for a refund and was told that it was posted up at the stables. I DID NOT SEE ANYTHING POSTED.) i recommended this place. If I could give it a zero star rating I would. Lynne is rude over the phone/text. And even though she was suppose to be my childs instructor, she canceled and had an Amanda who acted annoyed for having to deal with a young child for the whole 15 min ride. This place is seriously a joke. Lynne barely paid attention to my child during her two lessons there. She took phone calls and held long involved conversations with adults at the side of the arena instead of noticing that my child was uncomfortable and struggling. At different points, my child was left alone in the arena on a horse, or in the stable with a horse. I was flabbergasted. If shes insured, I cant imagine that her insurance covers that sort of negligence.Dont pre-pay for lessons like I did (Im kicking myself now!). Once you figure out youre getting a worthless/dangerous service, youll want a refund and she doesnt give them...a fact shes careful to neglect to tell you up front. I did try to talk to her about the quality of lesson - she couldnt be bothered and didnt even pretend to be interested in my complaint. I gave her a chance to give me half the refund show owed me. This is NOT a good choice for young riders. Look elsewhere for horseback riding lessons for children. The owner doesnt really watch your kid, and sometimes leaves the ring entirely to go do something else. Furthermore, shes not really honest about the fees and when I made safety complaints and asked for a refund for pre-paid lessons - she literally *laughed* at me and told me good luck.I think this lady is crooked, and worse yet she is cavalier about the safety of your young riders.

DO NOT take your child here. It is completely unsafe. A lot of people go here because they get a Groupon for a lesson and most people dont know any better on how a horse riding establishment should treat you and so they love it here. But my first expirience here (as a new rider) was horrifying, i almost never rode again and apparently there were many other people with experiences like mine which I found out when i started riding at a new barn, because at least one kid a week comes in with a new horror story from amethyst. Not to mention the incredibly rude staff. This barn needs to be shut down before anymore kids get hurt. I dont even get how they are still running. Please save yourself the trip and find a new barn.

There was no passion, and it was weird because she somehow managed to make horseback riding unpleasant. It really rubs off on you, the negativity. Didnt have a single nice thing to say, and she also mentioned that her horses have bucked everyone at least once right after we put our 4 year old on the horse.Meanwhile during the lesson she was TEXTING. She literally stopped the horse with our child on it, hid behind it (stopped hiding eventually) shamelessly texting while doing the lesson.
